1 LOST AND FOUND ORCHESTRA ADELAIDE FESTIVAL OPENING SHOW 03 and 04 MARCH 2018 Volunteer Cast Performer Briefing The Opportunity From the creators of the long running West End and Broadway show STOMP, the Opening of the 2018 Adelaide Festival, is the incredible percussive and musical extravaganza: Lost and Found Orchestra (LFO). Playing two nights over the opening weekend of the Festival in Elder Park, the show will see the 24 members of the UK based Lost and Found Orchestra joined by a 500 strong Adelaide volunteer cast of musicians, percussionists, drummers, choirs and performers. It promises to be an unforgettable experience. Nothing quite like this has ever been staged in Australia. Our Commitment to You It is our hope that participation in this show will leave a lasting legacy on the cultural landscape of Adelaide. The experience will provide volunteers the opportunity to learn new musical techniques, enhance their live performance skills, provide the opportunity to make new friends and connections and be part of two unforgettable nights. You ll get to work with some of the most creative people in the business and the chance to perform live, in front of tens of thousands of people. To show our appreciation you will receive a volunteer performer pass, which will provide you with 10% discount on ticket purchases across all Adelaide Festival shows. You ll also get access to our rush tickets program, which enables on the day purchases to certain shows for a limited amount of $20 tickets. Who We Are Looking For We are looking for passionate, committed individuals to perform in the show, who can offer time and focus, a love of music and performance skills of various levels (see below for more detail on the roles available). Please note we are looking for performers who are 12 years or older, so applicants must be over this age. Roles Available and Skills Set Required We are looking for a range of skills to form our volunteer cast. They are: Saw Section: for established string players, with high existing skill level Brass Section: for established brass players, with high existing skill level Percussion Section: for established percussion players, with high existing skill level Choir Section: preferably in an existing choir with a good skill level Ensemble A: Percussion and drumming skills, a good sense of rhythm and coordination and a willingness to perform various roles and mass choreography, spread across the site Ensemble B: A good sense of rhythm and co-ordination and a willingness to perform various roles and mass choreography, spread across the site Please note, there are limited spaces available in each role type, so we apologise in advance if the role you register for is not available. 2 Time Commitment In order to be a volunteer cast performer, you ll need to be sure you are able to commit to the key dates from the outset. Attending all rehearsals and of course the live shows is a must, so please read over the dates carefully when considering your involvement. The success of the show relies on full attendance at all rehearsals. Schedules can be found at the end of this document. Cast members will be responsible for making their own way to rehearsals. No financial compensation will be provided by the Festival for this. More about the Show This is not your typical orchestra. It s spectacular, hugely inventive, whacky, at times unexpectedly moving and unlike anything you ll have experienced before. Instruments are made from hose pipes, bottles, oil drums, saws, and a myriad of specially designed props. It s a highly percussive, performance of immense theatrical charm. It s humorous and a show for everyone. The creative team and the core LFO Orchestra will be arriving from the UK in time to rehearse with the local performers. How to Apply If you re able to commit to all rehearsal and show dates and would like to be a part of this incredible experience, we d love to hear from you.
