2 Description of Course Course Title: Music Appreciation, Dual Enrollment - #770D Description: Music Appreciation is appropriate for the musician or the non-musician. It provides an introduction to perceptive listening as well as to musical elements, forms, and stylistic periods. The purpose of the course is to deepen the student s appreciation for music and to develop listening skills. Students will take this course for 3 college credits. Goals: Instill an appreciation for music Encourage perceptive and analytical listening Develop listening skills Introduce musical elements, form, and stylistic periods Familiarize the student with the periods of classical music and their representative composers Requirements: Text: Music: An Appreciation, Seventh Edition, Roger Kamien Key to Levels of Achievement (Listed with each learning objective) Awareness (A): Learning (L): Understanding (U): Reinforcement (R): Students are introduced to concepts, forms, and patterns.
