2 To make a call, just type in the Conference ID number, or IP address on the main call screen. This screen should be the default screen when the system is turned on. Then hit the call button on the remote control. (Top left of remote control) Hanging up a call To hang up, simply hit the hang up button located at the top right of the remote control. Changing Inputs When you connect to a session, the default display should be camera one. If you are only viewing a session and do not need to use the Laptop, Elmo or Camera Two, you don't need to worry about changing inputs. To change inputs, select the camera button on the remote control. 2

3 You should see this image display on the screen. To switch inputs, select the arrow buttons on the remote control to navigate back and forth. Then click the center button to enter the input. 4 input. Make sure the Elmo is turned on. You will notice the following labels on the Elmo. Simply select the correct device to use by pushing the appropriate button on the Elmo. The second camera can no longer be controlled by the IVN system remote control. To use Camera Two, select the Cam 2 input button on the Elmo. To zoom Cam 2 in and out, you will need to use Camera Two's remote control, which is labeled Cam 2. To go back to the default display (Camera One) select the camera button on the remote and select the first camera (Main). 4

5 Recording with the DVDR recorder NOTE.. The VCR recorder is not hooked up. You will have to use the DVDR player to record. There are no spare ports on the IVN system to use both, and a DVDR disk can store a lot more data. It is now possible to record near and far side sessions. To use the DVDR player, insert a DVDR+R disk. You should see (CH IN1). If this is not the correct input, call Anne (8283), or Shoujun Fan (8488). You will notice "READ" on the display panel. The DVD player will read the disk and make sure it is the correct format. Once that is finished, it is safe to start recording. 5

6 Select Far Side Recording. Look at the diagram below. The DVDR player is setup so that it will record what is on the "LEFT" monitor. When you are connected, the default image should show the Far Side on the Left Plasma Monitor. If you want to record the Near side, simply select the camera button on the remote (Polycom), and choose the Camera (Main) Icon 6

7 Now you should see the Near side camera. To switch back to the far side, simply select the camera button on the remote (Polycom), and select the Camera (Main) icon. Once you have selected what side you want to record, click the record button on the DVD player remote control. To stop recording, click on the stop button on the DVD remote. Viewing the DVDR Disk. There are 2 ways to view the lecture. You can view your disk in the DVDR player on any DVD player, or you can view it on your PC, which must have a DVD Rom Player. To view the disk on the DVDR player in the IVN room, select the camera button on the remote (Polycom), and choose the VCR Icon. This selects the DVD player, the VCR player does not work. 7

8 Then hit play on the DVD remote control. To view the disk on your PC, you will have to finalize the DVDR disk. Select the camera button on the remote (Polycom), and choose the VCR Icon. This selects the DVD player, the VCR player does not work. On the DVD remote control, select function button. 8

9 You will see another screen. - Select "Other Funtions" - Disk Management - Finalize - "Finalizing will take around 5 minutes... Do you wish to Continue? (YES) - "Finalizing is necessary to enable playback... You will not be able to record on this disk when you finalize..." Are you sure you want to continue"? (START) - "Finished Finalizing..." Press Enter You are all set. Take your disk out and you can play it on your PC DVD Rom player. You will not be able to record on this disk again. 9
