38 LIGHTED MIRRORS COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS For Lighted Mirrors 100 WHAT IS THE BRIGHTEST LIGHTED MIRROR? Medium and large Silhouette and Integrity Lighted Mirrors have lights on all four sides which produce more light than styles with just two light strips, such as the Novo or Fusion. Within the Silhouette, the sizes with a 36 height are brighter than the sizes with a 42 height. CAN A LIGHTED MIRROR BE THE ONLY SOURCE OF LIGHT IN A BATHROOM? Typically, we would not recommend using a Lighted Mirror as the only source of light in a bathroom. We recommend having overhead lighting in addition to Lighted Mirrors to create ideal conditions. CAN A LIGHTED MIRROR BE MOUNTED ANY ORIENTATION? No, the Lighted Mirror must be installed in the orientation listed (width x height) as the mirror hangs on a chassis. If you need a custom size, contact us for a quote. CAN THE TOP OF A LIGHTED MIRROR BE MOUNTED ALL THE WAY TO THE CEILING? No, the wall mounted Lighted Mirrors require a 1 clearance at the top to allow space for the mirror to lift onto the metal chassis. CAN THE LIGHTED MIRRORS BE RECESSED FLUSH WITH THE WALL? The lighted mirrors are meant to be surface mounted. If you would like to recess your lighted mirror, ensure that the ¼ mirror is proud of the wall and just the chassis should be partially recessed. Make sure to leave a 1 clearance above the glass so the mirror can lift up for installation and maintenance. HOW SHOULD UPGRADES BE LISTED ON A PURCHASE ORDER? When ordering upgrades, please list any upgrade model numbers to the end of the specific base model. For Example: FUS3636-DC-DM-LED. CAN I ADD ALL THE UPGRADE OPTIONS TO MY BASE LIGHTED MIRROR? Not ALL the upgrades, however each lighted mirror may receive any of the following upgrades: 1. Diamond Clear. 2. Side diffusers (applicable on models with wall glow: NOV, NOV4, SER, and SIL only). 3. One of the two lighting upgrades (dimming ballast or dimmable LEDs). 4. Electric Mirror is the leader of Mirror TV technology, and we design and manufacture our own bathroom TVs for installation in hotel and residential bathrooms around the world. Our 15.6 and 21.5 TVs are an Electric Mirror brand TV that are 1 thin and are approved for bathroom installation. HOW CAN I MAKE IT SO THE TV TURNS ON TO HDMI EVERY TIME I TURN THE TV ON? You can program your TV power on to HDMI1 by pressing the menu button while the TV is on, toggle down to parental using the channel down button and press select and enter password Then go to on source and select HDMI1 by toggling with the volume button. Click select and exit. ARE SPEAKERS INCLUDED, AND CAN I USE MY OWN SPEAKERS? Yes, we include integrated speakers that we call Glasswaves. You may also upgrade to a BOSE ceiling speaker for $300 list additional, or you can connect your own external speakers on site. WHAT IS THE WARRANTY OF THE TV AND HOW DO I SERVICE THE TV? Electric Mirror offers an industry leading three-year warranty on 15.6 and 21.5 TVs. Should an issue occur within the three year warranty, Electric Mirror will either repair or replace the TV. The TV can easily be swapped from the TV bracket on the back of the mirror using a Philips screwdriver. CAN THE TV BE INTEGRATED WITH A HOME AUTOMATION SYSTEM? Yes, we include a rear IR Emitter as a 3.5mm jack for control. You may request our IR codes by ing residential@electricmirror.com. In the rare case where you want to include RS232, contact Electric Mirror before ordering for a quote. DO I NEED A SEPARATE CABLE BOX AND REMOTE? As with any TV, if you would like premium cable channels, your cable company will require a cable box for the TV. The cable box will either need to have line of sight from the remote, or you can hide the cable box in the vanity and get a crystal IR receiver from the cable company so just the sleek IR receiver has line of sight from the remote. If you are using DirecTV s Genie system, you should be able to select Electric Mirror for the TV brand and use the DirecTV remote as a single remote solution. While the majority of the mirror will not fog up, you can expect to see fog form around the perimeter of the mirror. CAN YOU TURN THE FOG-FREE MIRROR ON AT THE SAME TIME AS THE SHOWER? We recommend a minute warm-up period. These are low voltage units so they are safe in the shower, but that means they need some time to warm up before the shower is turned on. CAN THE FOG-FREE MIRRORS BE INSTALLED IN A STEAM SHOWER? While you may install this unit in a steam shower, you can expect it to fog up under intense steam from a steam shower. This product is better suited for a typical shower. HOW IT IS WIRED AND WHERE SHOULD THE TRANSFORMER BE PLACED? These unites come ready for hardwire and require a 120V connection. The transformer should be installed in an accessible dry location like a closet and it is to be controlled by a light switch, such as the overhead shower light. The low voltage cable will run from the transformer to the back of the defogger. WHAT ADHESIVE DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR INSTALLING THE AQUA FOG-FREE MIRROR? For the non-lighted Aqua Fog-Free Mirror, the mirror defogger is to be adhered to the wall using a mirror mastic or tile adhesive around the back edges of the mirror. CAN THE FOG-FREE MIRRORS BE SURFACE MOUNTED TO THE DRY WALL? The Acclaim Lighted Fog-Free mirror must be recessed into the wall, and the Aqua non-lit Fog-Free Mirror should adhere to the wall and be flush with the tile or marble surface. In order to protect the mirror edges from damage over time, it is important to seal around the edges by applying a silicon sealant to the joint between the mirror and the tile. No, we cannot offer custom finishes or any customization to the Makeup Mirrors (whereas we do offer custom for vanity Lighted Mirrors). ARE ANY MAKEUP MIRRORS DOUBLE SIDED? Only the Palette (MODEL EMHL700) is double sided, with 5x on one side and normal mirror on the flip side. All other models only have the 5X on one side and the back is a finished metal. DO THE WALL MOUNTED MAKEUP MIRRORS HAVE A DOUBLE ARM? Yes. This enables the mirror to fold in towards itself for maximizing your space when not in use. WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR INSTALLATION? Electric Mirror s Entertainment Mirror TVs include TVs that are 32, 40, 48, 55, 65, 75, or 85, from a leading TV manufacturer. 146 ARE THE TVS 4K? Yes, our large Entertainment Mirror TVs with 40 TV and larger include the highest quality 4K UHD TVs available. Also, the 48, 55, and 65 TV models include HDR (High Dynamic Range) processing for superior picture quality. CAN I USE MY OWN TV AND ELECTRIC MIRROR PROVIDE THE MIRROR? No, Electric Mirror provides a Mirror TV as a complete solution. The TV comes attached to the mirror and simply mounts to the wall with the wall hanger provided for an easy and seamless installation. DOES THE MIRROR TV NEED TO RECESS INTO THE WALL? The standard Entertainment Mirror TV is meant to surface mount on the wall and includes a bracket on the left and right edge to block a view of the TV from the side. If you would like to recess your Mirror TV in the wall, you may upgrade to a recessed mount and Electric Mirror will provide the necessary rough in information. With the recess mount, make sure the ¼ mirror is proud of the wall so it has clearance at the top to lift up 1 for installation and maintenance. CAN THE TOP OF THE MIRROR BE MOUNTED ALL THE WAY TO THE CEILING? No, the surface mounted and recess mounted Mirror TVs require a 1 clearance at the top of the mirror to allow space for the mirror to lift onto the mounting bracket. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN V-MIRROR AND IRIS? Iris is the best glass option for Entertainment Mirror TVs because it gives the brightest Mirror TV experience, offering reduced glare and stunning TV viewing on parity with a standard HDTV. The TV virtually vanishes when off, leaving only a subtle faint outline of the TV perimeter that may be noticeable up close. For the bathroom, V-Mirror is the preferred glass for a completely vanishing Mirror TV because the V-Mirror is more reflective than Iris, offering a better reflection for a bathroom application compared to Iris. However even V-Mirror is darker than a typical mirror, so Spectrum is recommended for the best mirror reflection possible for bathroom Mirror TVs. WHAT IS THE WARRANTY OF THE TV AND HOW DO I SERVICE THE TV? Since our Entertainment TVs, 32 and larger, are manufactured by a TV manufacturer, the warranty is through the TV manufacturer and it is 2 years. IS THE KITCHEN TV WATERPROOF? Although the Kitchen TV is not waterproof, it is water resistant and is meant to be installed in the Kitchen, such as under a cabinet above the counter, but away from the sink or oven. Avoid high humidity or highly wet areas. The Kitchen TV also includes a waterproof remote that can get wet. DOES THE KITCHEN TV NEED TO BE INSTALLED IN A KITCHEN? Not at all! We designed the Kitchen TV specifically to fulfill the need for a flush mounted TV for the Kitchen to save valuable counter space, but the TV can really be installed anywhere in the house besides the shower (see Northstar Waterproof TV for wet installations). Any other place where you d like a flush mounted 15.6 TV will be a great fit for the Kitchen TV. CAN IT BE CONNECTED TO A SECURITY SYSTEM? The multiple audio and video inputs make the Kitchen TV compatible with video security cameras for television monitoring. Secure tamper proof connections will be grouted into the wall behind the TV. The elegant design does not appear to be a security monitor. CAN THE KITCHEN TV BE INSTALLED FLUSH WITH TILE OR DIRECTLY ON A FINISHED WALL? Yes, either way is perfectly fine. CAN YOU CUSTOMIZE THE KITCHEN TV? No, we are not able to offer any customization to the Kitchen TV. However we have selected finishes such as white to go with white appliances, Iris or Mirror Glass to go with stainless appliances, and Black glass to go with black appliances. And we created the Lush Green for some added color. WHAT IS RECOMMENDED FOR AUDIO? Integrated speakers only come included for the GAL-156-BS-MS model. All other models will require either an audio upgrade such as WallWaves Speakers or the BOSE ceiling speakers, or you can also connect external speakers by others. QUESTIONS?
