35 HDR FOR BROADCAST AND ON-LINE Final Thoughts Broadcasters will benefit from a graceful, non-disruptive introduction of HDR. The majority of the audience will watch programmes on non HDR televisions for many years. It is vital that the HDR systems allow easy automated conversion of an HDR programmes to Standard Dynamic Range (SDR). Mapping of SDR to HDR will be key to mixing old and new content in HDR programming and distribution. Creative practices in production should not have adverse effects such as visual fatigue or discomfort when viewed for a significant period of time
