19 Projector Plcement 19 You cn plce the projector on lmost ny flt surfce to project n imge. You cn lso instll the projector in ceiling mount if you wnt to use it in fixed loction. An optionl ceiling mount is required when suspending the projector from ceiling. Note the following points when selecting projector loction: Plce the projector on sturdy, level surfce or instll it using comptible mount. Downloded from Wrning If you cnnot instll the projector prllel to the screen, correct keystone distortion using the projector controls. You must instll ceiling mount when suspending the projector from ceiling. If you do not instll the projector correctly, it could fll nd cuse dmge or injury. Do not use dhesives on the ceiling mount fixing points to prevent the screws from loosening, or use lubricnts, oils, or similr substnces on the projector; the projector cse my crck cusing it to fll from its ceiling mount. This could cuse serious injury to nyone under the ceiling mount nd could dmge the projector. Do not cover the projector's ir intke or ir exhust vents. If the vents re covered, the internl temperture could rise nd cuse fire. Leve plenty of spce round nd under the projector for ventiltion, nd do not plce it on top of or next to nything tht could block the vents. Position the projector within rech of grounded electricl outlet or extension cord. Plce the projector prllel to the screen. Attention Do not operte the projector on its side. 21 Projector Connections 21 You cn connect the projector to vriety of computer, video, nd udio sources to disply presenttions, movies, or other imges, with or without sound. Illustrtions in this section re of EB-W04. Connect computer tht hs USB port, stndrd video output (monitor) port, or HDMI port. For video projection, connect devices such s DVD plyers, gming consoles, digitl cmers, nd smrtphones with comptible video output ports. If your presenttion or video includes sound, you cn connect udio input cbles. For slide shows or presenttions without computer, you cn connect USB devices (such s flsh drive or cmer) or the optionl Epson document cmer. You cn ply sound through the projector's speker system by connecting commercilly vilble RCA udio cble. b Downloded from To connect Mc tht includes only Mini DisplyPort, Thunderbolt port, or Mini-DVI port for video output, you need to obtin n dpter tht llows you to connect to the projector's VGA video port. Connect the cble to your projector's USB-B port. Do e Windows 2000: Double-click Computer > EPSON_PJ_UD > EMP_UDSE.EXE. Windows XP: Wit s messges re displyed on your computer screen nd the projector instlls the Epson USB Disply softwre on your computer. If it is not instlled utomticlly, double-click My Computer > EPSON_PJ_UD > EMP_UDSE.EXE. 33 Turning On the Projector 33 Turn on the computer or video equipment you wnt to use fter you turn on the projector. 34 Turning On the Projector 34 Wrning Never look into the projector lens when the lmp is on. This cn dmge your eyes nd is especilly dngerous for children. During projection, do not block the light from the projector with book or other objects. If the light from the projector is blocked, the re on which the light shines becomes hot which could cuse it to melt, burn, or strt fire. Also, the lens my get hot due to the reflected light which could cuse the projector to mlfunction. To stop projection, use the A/V Mute function, or turn off the projector. A mercury lmp with high internl pressure is used s the projector's light source. If the lmp is subjected to vibrtions or shocks, or if it is used for n overly extended length of time, the lmp my brek or it my not turn on. If the lmp explodes, gses my escpe nd smll frgments of glss my be scttered which could cuse n injury. Be sure to observe the instructions below. Do not disssemble or dmge the lmp or subject it to ny impcts. Do not bring your fce close to the projector while it is in use. Prticulr cre should be tken when the projector is instlled to ceiling, s smll pieces of glss my fll down when the lmp cover is removed. When clening the projector or replcing the lmp yourself, be very creful not to llow such pieces of glss to get into the eyes or mouth. You cn use the wireless mouse fetures with Windows 2000 nd lter, or OS X 10.3.x nd lter. Connect the projector to computer using the projector's USB-B, Computer, or HDMI port.
