2 LOGO STANDARDS Best practices for use of NS, MC System, and MCF logos worldwide

3 Logo Formats Horizontal and vertical formats, Use in dark background, Color and typography applications, Preserving the logo space, Minimum logo size, Common Errors in Logo use

4 HORIZONTAL FORMAT The horizontal format of the logo (icon left hand side of text) is recommended as the primary format, specially when it is placed beside logos of sponsors and external partners which are also on horizontal format. When using any two or three of these logos, make sure that the horizontal format is consistent, side by side other horizontal logos. NS logo, in all cases, takes precedence over all other logos. We strongly recommend using the logo primarily over a white or light background such as cream, light shades of blue, and light shades of green.

5 VERTICAL FORMAT The vertical format of the logo (icon on top of text) is recommended when there is a need to economize on the design space, specially when it is placed on logos of sponsors and external partners which are also on vertical format. When using any two or three of these logos, make sure that the vertical format is consistent, side by side other vertical logos. NS logo, in all cases, takes precedence over all other logos. We strongly recommend using the logo primarily over a white or light background such as cream, light shades of blue, and light shades of green.

6 Using the Logo in Dark Colour Background (Horizontal Format) In all other color background whether plain, solid color or multi-color use a white accent such as a white bar or a white arched space on top or bottom so the logo can be visible. On the left side are some examples. In all cases, ensure that the logo is visible, unobstructed, and its text portion is still readable.

7 Using the Logo in Dark Colour Background (Vertical Format) In all other color backgrounds, use a white accent such as a white circle or a white loop, or a white tab in any corner of the poster, depending on the design layout. These fonts or typefaces are chosen for being universally available in most programs and applications such as Macintosh or Microsoft Office.

10 PRESERVING THE LOGO SPACE (horizontal format) Preserve the space around the logo for visual effectiveness. No element should intrude this specified space. Approximately 0.5 cm in all sides, from the top and bottom of the logo icons as well as beside the text. As illustrated in the left hand side, keep the spaces within the dashed perimeter of the logos free from other graphics or text. Keep it clear and clean.

In all cases, ensure that the length or width is reduced proportionate with the height.

14 COMMON ERRORS IN LOGO USE Inverting or modifying colors. Distorting or shearing the logos out of proportion Placing the logo on a dark background. Placing the logo on a picture or on a busy and dark background.

15 COMMON ERRORS IN LOGO USE Adding artistic effects, transparencies, and quick styles to the logo. This Includes but is not limited to: invert, bevel and emboss, lighting and drop shadows Recreating the logo, like tweaking the icons or customizing a logo for the country Institute. Deleting the text, just using the icons, or modifying the text, including putting the country Institute.

41 Way Forward Delete your old logos in all your folders, files, and other templates Update your posters, promo materials, and other marketing collaterals Do not use old logos with new logos Connect with the ISNS Marketing Committee for clarifications via: ( address) Discuss this in your country Institutes and local MCF chapters Be open to receive gentle reminders from the Marketing Committee whenever we need to give input on a promo material that you are circulating.
