10 Projector Fetures When projecting imges using wireless LAN, you must instll the Epson b/g/n wireless LAN module, nd then set up your projector nd computer for wireless projection (EB L510U/EB L610W/EB L610/EB L400U/EB L500W/EB L500). 18 Projector Plcement 18 You cn plce the projector on lmost ny flt surfce to project n imge. You cn lso instll the projector in ceiling mount if you wnt to use it in fixed loction. An optionl ceiling mount is required when suspending the projector from ceiling. Note the following points when selecting projector loction: Plce the projector on sturdy, level surfce or instll it using comptible mount. Wrning You must instll ceiling mount when suspending the projector from ceiling. If you do not instll the projector correctly, it could fll nd cuse dmge or injury. Do not use dhesives on the ceiling mount fixing points to prevent the screws from loosening, or use lubricnts, oils, or similr substnces on the projector; the projector cse my crck cusing it to fll from its ceiling mount. This could cuse serious injury to nyone under the ceiling mount nd could dmge the projector. Do not cover the projector's ir intke or ir exhust vents. If the vents re covered, the internl temperture could rise nd cuse fire. Do not instll the projector on n unstble surfce or in loction beyond the weight specifictions of the projector. Otherwise, it could fll or topple cusing n ccident nd injury. When instlling the projector in high position, tke mesures to prevent flling by using wires to ensure sfety in n emergency, such s n erthquke, nd to prevent ccidents. If it is not instlled correctly, it could fll cusing n ccident nd injury. Leve plenty of spce round nd under the projector for ventiltion, nd do not plce it on top of or next to nything tht could block the vents. Plce the projector prllel to the screen. 19 Projector Plcement 19 Projector Setup nd Instlltion Options You cn set up or instll your projector in the following wys: Front/Rer Precutions on Instlltion You cn instll the projector or mount it to the ceiling t ny horizontl or verticl ngle. Note the following precutions when instlling the projector. Attention If the projector is instlled t n ngle, it should be instlled by qulified technicins using mounting hrdwre designed for use with this projector. Instll the projector ppropritely to prevent it from flling down. Use M4 screws (up to depth of 9 mm) to fix the projector's ceiling mount fixing points nd the mounting hrdwre t four points. 20 Projector Plcement 20 Instlltion spce Instlltion spce (When instlling multiple projectors side by side) Attention Be sure to leve the following mount of spce round the projector so s not to block the ir exhust nd intke vents. Attention If you re instlling multiple projectors next to ech other, mke sure hot ir from the exhust vent does not go into the ir intke vent of nother projector. The imge size increses the frther the projector is from the screen, but cn vry depending on the zoom fctor, spect rtio, nd other settings.

22 Projector Connections 22 See these sections to connect the projector to vriety of projection sources. Attention Check the shpe nd orienttion of the connectors on ny cble you pln to connect. Do not force connector into port if it does not fit. The device or your projector could be dmged or could mlfunction. See the Quick Reference for list of cbles supplied with your projector. Connecting to n HDBseT Trnsmitter 27 one end of the network cble to the HDBseT port on the b Connect trnsmitter. c Connect the other end to the projector's HDBseT port. To send n HDMI or RS-232C signl over long distnce, you cn connect the projector to n optionl HDBseT trnsmitter using 100Bse-TX network cble (EB L615U/EB L610U/EB L510U/EB L610W). This is useful when you wnt to send signl to or control the projector from remote loction, such s in hll or event site, since you cn use network cble up to 100 m in length. To ensure proper dt trnsmission, use Ctegory 5e STP cble or better. However, opertion is not gurnteed for ll input/output devices nd environments. To enble communiction from the Ethernet nd seril ports on the trnsmitter, select On s the Control Communictions setting in the projector's Extended menu (Stndby Mode is utomticlly set to Communiction On). 35 Turning On the Projector 35 Turn on the computer or video equipment you wnt to use fter you turn on the projector. Connect the power cord to the projector's power inlet nd plug it into n electricl outlet. Try the following if you do not see projected imge. Turn on the connected computer or video device. Chnge the screen output from the computer when using lptop computer. Insert DVD or other video medi, nd press ply (if necessry). Press the [Source Serch] button on the control pnel or remote control to detect the source. Press the button for the desired video source on the remote control. If the Home screen is displyed, select the source you wnt to project. Wrning Never look into the projector lens when the light source is on. This cn dmge your eyes nd is especilly dngerous for children. When turning on the projector t distnce using the remote control, mke sure there is no one looking into the lens. During projection, do not block the light from the projector with book or other objects. If the light from the projector is blocked, the re on which the light shines becomes hot which could cuse it to melt, burn, or strt fire. Also, the lens my get hot due to the reflected light which could cuse the projector to mlfunction. To stop projection, use the A/V Mute function, or turn off the projector. b The projector's power indictor turns blue. This indictes tht the projector is receiving power, but is not yet turned on (it is in stndby mode). Press the power button on the control pnel or remote control to turn on the projector. The projector beeps nd the sttus indictor flshes blue s the projector wrms up. Once the projector is wrmed up, the sttus indictor stops flshing nd turns blue. When the Direct Power On setting is set to On in the projector's Extended menu, the projector turns on s soon s you plug it in. 37 Turning Off the Projector 37 Turn off the projector fter use. Turn off this product when it is not in use to prolong the life of the projector. Light source life vries depending on the mode selected, environmentl conditions, nd usge. Brightness decreses over time. Automtic light source clibrtion strts periodiclly when you turn off the projector. However, this does not strt utomticlly in the following situtions: If you use the projector continuously for more thn 24 hours in the Constnt Brightness mode If you regulrly turn off the projector by shutting off the power outlet (direct shutdown) Schedule periodic Light Source Clibrtion events in the projector's Extended menu. s Extended > Schedule Settings Since the projector supports the direct shutdown feture, it cn be turned off directly using the breker. Selecting the Projector You wnt to Operte After setting the projector's ID, select the ID for the projector you wnt to operte using the remote control. Aim the remote control t the trget projector nd press the [ID] button. b While holding the [ID] button, press the number button tht mtches the ID of the projector you wnt to operte. c The projector you wnt to operte is selected. Press the [ID] button to check if the ID-setting process worked. You see messge displyed by the projector. If the remote control is listed s On, you cn operte the projector from the remote control. 108 Wireless Network Projection You cn send imges to your projector through wireless network. To do this, you must instll the Epson b/g/n wireless LAN module, nd then set up your projector nd computer for wireless projection (EBL510U/EB-L610W/EB-L610/EB-L400U/EB-L500W/EB-L500). Some models hve built-in wireless LAN modules (EB L615U/EB L610U). You don't need to instll the Epson b/g/n wireless LAN module. You cn connect the projector to your wireless network by configuring the connection mnully using the projector's Network menus. After instlling the wireless LAN module nd setting up the projector, instll the network softwre from the Epson Projector Softwre CD-ROM (if vilble) or downlod the softwre, s necessry.
