3 Entertainment & Technology TNT Greenlights New Series DALLAS TNT has given the greenlight to DALLAS, an all-new series based upon one of the most popular television dramas of all time, about the bitter rivalries and family power struggles within a Texas oil and cattle-ranching dynasty. Famous for its ratings-grabbing cliffhangers, the original series was known for its wealth, seduction, scandal and intrigues. Set in the big state of Texas, TNT s new DALLAS from Warner Horizon Television also lives life large and in the fast lane and brings a new generation of stars together with cast members from the original drama series. The new DALLAS stars are Josh Henderson (90210), Jesse Metcalfe (John Tucker Must Die), Jordana Brewster (Fast & Furious), Julie Gonzalo (Veronica Mars) and Brenda Strong (Desperate Housewives), and they will be joined by iconic stars Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray and Larry Hagman as J.R. Ewing. TNT has ordered 10 episodes of DALLAS, which is slated to premiere in summer Fans can visit the website, to watch sneak peeks and behind-the-scenes videos. The website will be periodically updated with new materials. TNT has explored the possibility of an updated version of DALLAS for several years, but it wasn t until we read Cynthia Cidre s outstanding pilot script that we knew we had the foundation for a great new series, said Michael Wright, executive vice president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). It is incredibly exciting to see both new and familiar characters in the hands of a dream cast under the guidance of the enormously talented Cidre and Mike Robin. We couldn t be more pleased with how DALLAS has come together. The original DALLAS aired from 1978 to 1991 and centered on the Ewing family, a cattle and oil dynasty occupying the expansive Southfork Ranch in Texas. A long and bitter rivalry between brothers J.R. Ewing (Hagman) and Bobby Ewing (Duffy) eventually led to J.R. losing control of most of the Ewing industries. Bachelor Pad Premieres Monday, August 8 Fan-favorites, arch-rivals, villains and the sexiest participants from the hugely successful Bachelor franchise reunite under one roof in a competitive reality series for a second chance at love as ABC s Bachelor Pad returns for a second season Monday, August 8th (7:00-9:00 p.m.). Who among Bachelors and Bachelorettes past will rekindle old flames and ignite new ones? America s Karaoke Challenge Premieres After Bachelor Pad August 8th This summer ABC brings viewers the amazing story of a competition that draws thousands of the most talented singers together in the ultimate sing-off the Karaoke World Championships USA. Scream If You Know The Answer The Travel Channel will be airing a new game show starring Bert Kreischer, better known as Bert the Conqueror, called Scream: If You Know The Answer. The contestants will be challenged by Bert with trivia questions and mind games, all while riding a roller coaster. It s an American version of a British show of the same name. Beginning Sunday, August 7 at 8:00 p.m., Bert challenges contestants to answer trivia questions, word games, charades and memory games while riding amusement park thrill rides throughout the country. This show literally takes the average game show to new heights.

7 In Our Community National Night Out - Meet Your Local Safety Agencies The Marseilles Police Department will sponsor a National Night Out Event from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 2nd at Knudson Park. National Night Out is a nationwide community event planned annually to raise drug and crime prevention awareness. All ages and families are invited to attend the free event. There will be activities and games for children and families. Also, demonstrations from local safety officials will be presented. It has always been a great community night out. Hope to see everybody out at Knudson Park! Bridges Senior Center Schedules Potluck & Bingo August 24th Bridges Senior Center Satellite Office located at the Marseilles American Legion will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a potluck at noon and Bingo starting at 1:00 p.m. Staff will be on site to help with senior assistance. This event will take place the 4th Wednesday of every month until the end of the year. Call to make appointments. Bridges is a community center that offers information, education, recreational programs and support for seniors, those who care for them and grandparents raising grandchildren. All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast The American Legion Hall in Marseilles offers All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast the last Sunday of the month. This month s breakfast will be August 28, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The cost for breakfast is $5 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12 years old. The Legion is located at 571 Rutland. Organically Grown Veggies Available Growing Home s will open its small farm stand Wednesday and Friday afternoons from. A small selection of farm picked organically grown veggies and herbs will be featured. Participants accepted into the program learn organic farming skills, as well as other skills like customer service and operations support. When at the Les Brown Memorial Farm they participate in intense on-thejob training by helping our farmers seed, cultivate, and harvest crops to sell at market or through our community supported agriculture (CSA) program. Music In The Park Branded as Marseille s Very Own Ravinia in Knudson Park, you can come on down and enjoy FREE music on Friday nights from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This month come out and listen to the music of Bad Dads, an 80 s Rock n Roll band. They will be performing on August 12. Then, on August 19, bring the family and friends to hear The Coachmen. This band plays a format of Rock a Billie and Oldies. Finally, mark your calendar for September 2 to see an American Folksinger, Bucky Halker. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the music under the stars! Market In The Park Marseilles Farmers Market is open every Wednesday at Knudson Park on Lincoln Street across from the Fire Station. You ll find vegetables, fruit, baked goods and other specialty items for sale from local farmers and residents. The hours of the market are from 12:00 Noon until 5:00 p.m. as weather permits.
