Coming off a third Emmy Award for Best Reality Competition Series, and with Gwen Stefani returning as coach alongside returning coaches Alicia Keys, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton the co-viewing, four-quadrant blockbuster vocal competition series moves back to CTV, anchoring the network s Monday and Tuesday night lineups (Feb. 27/28). Also bolstering CTV s 2017 winter schedule is the series premiere of the gritty, emotional, darkly humorous, and terrifically intense TRAINING DAY (Feb. 2) and the previously announced, highly-anticipated, new six-part CTV Original Event Series CARDINAL (Jan. 25). On the heels of its third Emmy win, and with momentum building, THE VOICE is poised to star on CTV s 2017 winter schedule, said Mike Cosentino, Senior Vice-President, CTV and Specialty. In addition to the much-anticipated debuts of the buzzed-about TRAINING DAY and CTV s new original can t miss event-series CARDINAL, plus the return of fan-favourite hits and TV s mostwatched big ticket live events such as THE OSCARS and SUPER BOWL LI, CTV and CTV Two are primed for an extraordinary start to the new year. Kicking off the new year, perennial Friday night favourite GRIMM begins its sixth and final season (Jan. 6) and game show revival MATCH GAME, hosted by Alec Baldwin (SNL), returns for its second season (Jan. 4). The legal drama CONVICTION moves to CTV s Sunday night lineup (Jan. 1), while can t miss thriller QUANTICO move to Mondays (Jan. 23). Hit series HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER (Jan. 19) and THE FLASH (Jan. 24) continue in their regular timeslots with all-new episodes. On CTV Two, SLEEPY HOLLOW (Jan. 6), MASTERCHEF JUNIOR (Feb. 9), and the final season of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES (Jan. 13) all return. Demoted for a hunch about a case that he wouldn t let go, Cardinal is brought back to the Homicide Unit when the body of missing 13-year-old Katie Pine is discovered, proving his instincts correct. TRAINING DAY Thursdays at 10 p.m. beginning Feb. 2 on CTV Gritty, emotional, darkly humorous and terrifically intense, TRAINING DAY is a reimagining of the ground-breaking film of the same name, beginning 15 years later, and exploring modern-day Los Angeles in all its guts and glory. The LAPD s Kyle Craig (Justin Cornwell, EMPIRE) is one of the good guys. A rookie cop bumped up to detective in the elite and elusive Special Investigation Section (S.I.S.), a unit that goes after the worst of the worst, he s been tasked by Deputy Chief Lockhart (Marianne Jean-Baptiste, BLINDSPOT) to expose the corruption of veteran cop Frank Rourke (Bill Paxton, BIG LOVE), a charming but crooked detective and the head of S.I.S. The morally ambiguous Frank lives by the law of the jungle and he s willing to do whatever it takes to bring down the bad guys, and to continue the chase where the law won t. When Kyle learns that Frank was his father s partner and may be able to help him solve his father s murder, he keeps his judgment at bay. Having Kyle, a politically correct poster boy for the new police order, as his trainee could be beneficial for Frank as they maneuver the streets and track the city s most dangerous offenders. As the bullets fly in the undercover world of S.I.S. with these partners who don t trust each other, the question becomes who s training who? TRAINING DAY also stars Lex Scott Davis (TONI BRAXTON: UNBREAK MY HEART) as Alyse Arredondo, Katrina Law (ARROW) as Rebecca Lee, Drew Van Acker (PRETTY LITTLE LIARS) as Tommy Campbell, and Julie Benz (DEXTER) as Holly Butler.
