QUARTERLY RFTORT PDUCTION and SALE OF RADIO RECNG SETS V V APRIL, MAY and.j1jne, 194 During the second 1unrter of 1940 producers' sores of ratio receivers in Canada amounted to 5,937 sets having a list or retail value of 3,22,274. Data for the three months under review show that the number of sets sold was higher than for any corresponding period of other years. The total. of 5,937 sets sold during April, May and June of this year was 62 per cent over the 52,95 sets sold during the second quarter of 1939, which in turn exceeded the 0,7].9 sets for the second quarter of 193 by 72 per cent. Compared with corresponding data for a year ago, the figures for this quarter show substantial increases in sales across Canada. In Ontario, the advance was to 37,27 sets from 23,246, in British CoLumbia to 9,270 from 4,094, in the Maritimes to 7,739 from 3,166, in Quebec to 15,319 from 11,259, in Saskatchewan and Alberta to 10,733 from 6,69 and in Manitoba to 5,59 from 4,441. In addition to the 5,937 receiving sets sold by Canadian manufacturers during the quarter, there were Inuorts through Customs of 2,417 sets while 7,15 sets were admitted into Canada under special conditions. Inventories at the producerst factories and various branches or in jobberst hands on June 50, 140 were reported at 120,967 sets.
