Two keys must be pressed to select a channel. Example: Press 0 then 6 to select channel 6. For cable channels 100 through 125, press and hold the 1 key untl C -- appears. 9 OPERATINGTIPS - The VCR and TV modes are preprogrammed wth Sanyo codes. - To operate each product (VCR, TV, Cable Box, or Satellte Recever), you must frst press the proper mode key (VCR, TV, CABLE, or SAT/AUX). - The assocated mode key lghts when you press any operatng key (channel, volume, etc.) t_ ndcate whch equpment s beng controlled. - The SAT/AUX mode can be programmed to operate a Satellte Recever, VCR, or Cable Box. - Some manufacturers use dfferent types of remote contros. If your brand has several codes lsted, program the unt wth dfferent codes untl you fnd the correct one. Larger numbers may represent newer models. - There may be VCRs, Cable Converter Boxes, and Satellte Recevers that ths remote control cannot operate. Some models may operate only partally. - Ths remote control uses an nvsble (nfrared) lght beam to operate the equpment. Objects between the equpment and the remote control can block ths lght beam. Therefore, the remote control must be ponted drectly at the equpment you want to operate. - Ths remote control cannot add features to your equpmert. They must have been orgnally provded by your equpment's manufacturer. MPAA s a voluntary ratng system used by the move ndustry. TV Parental Gudelnes are modeled after the MPAA ratngs and were desgned to be smple to use, easy to understand, and easy to fnd. TV Parental Gudelnes contan both age-based and content-based nformaton. Ths gves parents dscretonary ways of choosng approprate materal for ther chldren to vew. Content ratngs are represented by the ntals D (Suggestve Dalog), L (Adult Language), S (Sexual Stuatons), V (Volence), and FV (Fantasy Volence). When programmng contans any or all of these condtons, these letters become part of the con that s dsplayed on the TV screen. A ratng con wll appear n the upper lefthand corner of the TV screen for ffteen seconds at the begnnng of a program and should be repeated at the begnnng of the OPERATION second hour of a long program. It may also appear when returnng from commercals. There may be other nstances when these cons wll be dsplayed as well. Parents are encouraged to become famlar wth these cons and ther meanngs. 16 CLOSED-CAPTIONING [] QuckTps! If Capton Text mode s selected and no captoned text s broadcasted, a black box may appear and reman on the TV screen. Captonng s textual nformaton transmtted along wth the pcture and sound so t can be dsplayed on the TV screen. Because dfferent types of captons can be transmtted wth the TV sgnal, separate captonng modes are provded. The captonng modes recognzed by ths model are: Captonl, Capton2, Textl, and Text2. Local broadcasters decde whch capton sgnals to transmt. They may not choose to provde captons or may provde captons n one or all of the avalable modes. Captonl: Ths s the man mode used for program captonng (words match the program you are watchng). Almost all broadcasters wll use Captonl to transmt program captons. These captons are generally one or two lnes. Capton2: Ths s an alternatve mode for program captonng. Capton2 may be used by the broadcaster to provde captons n another language, such as, Spansh or French. To remove ths black box, set captonng to any mode other than Textl or Text2 or press the RESET key to cancel captonng and customzed settngs, When captonng : s turned ot_ the channel dsplay wll not stay on the screen, For these dsplays to stay on the screen you must set Captonng to OFF. Textl: Ths mode s used to dsplay large amounts of text. Ths text wll appear wthn a black box that may be nearly as large as the TV screen. Text dsplayed n ths manner does not generally relate to the program. These captons may be used by broadcasters to provde weather reports, communty bulletns, stock quotes, etc. Text2: Ths s an alternatve mode used to dsplay large amounts of text. The same typos of nformaton dsplayed n Textl can be dsplayed n Text2. Qukeap: Qnkcap allows captons to toggle on and off wth the MUTE functon. For example, the phone rngs; you press the MUTE key on the remote control to block the TV sound; the captons dsplay automatcally. When you fnsh your conversaton and press the MUTE key agan to restore the sound, the captons wll dsappear. Qukcap dsplays program captons n the Captonl mode. SE'FrlNG CAPTIONS 1. Press the CAPTION key on the remotecontrol. 2. Use the 0 key to select OFF,Capton1, Capton2, Text1, Text2, or Qukeap.
