9 Projector Fetures When projecting imges using wireless LAN, you must instll the Epson b/g/n wireless LAN module, nd then set up your projector nd computer for wireless projection (EB W41/EB X41/EB S41/EB U05/EB W05/EB X05/EB S05/EB U1 40/EB W140/EB X140/EB S140/EB X450/EB X400/EB S400). Depending on your projector model, you my need to purchse the optionl wireless LAN module. See the Quick Strt Guide for list of items supplied with your projector. 17 Projector Plcement 17 You cn plce the projector on lmost ny flt surfce to project n imge. You cn lso instll the projector in ceiling mount if you wnt to use it in fixed loction. An optionl ceiling mount is required when suspending the projector from ceiling. Note the following points when selecting projector loction: Plce the projector on sturdy, level surfce or instll it using comptible mount. Leve plenty of spce round nd under the projector for ventiltion, nd do not plce it on top of or next to nything tht could block the vents. Position the projector within rech of grounded electricl outlet or extension cord. Plce the projector prllel to the screen. If Wrning you cnnot instll the projector prllel to the screen, correct keystone distortion using the projector controls. You must instll ceiling mount when suspending the projector from ceiling. If you do not instll the projector correctly, it could fll nd cuse dmge or injury. Do not use dhesives on the ceiling mount fixing points to prevent the screws from loosening, or use lubricnts, oils, or similr substnces on the projector; the projector cse my crck cusing it to fll from its ceiling mount. This could cuse serious injury to nyone under the ceiling mount nd could dmge the projector. Do not cover the projector's ir intke or ir exhust vents. If the vents re covered, the internl temperture could rise nd cuse fire. Do not instll the projector on n unstble surfce or in loction beyond the weight specifictions of the projector. Otherwise, it could fll or topple cusing n ccident nd injury. When instlling the projector in high position, tke mesures to prevent flling by using wires to ensure sfety in n emergency, such s n erthquke, nd to prevent ccidents. If it is not instlled correctly, it could fll cusing n ccident nd injury. Attention Do not operte the projector on its side. This my cuse the projector to mlfunction. 18 Projector Plcement 18 Projector Setup nd Instlltion Options You cn set up or instll your projector in the following wys: Front/Rer projector is from the screen, but cn vry depending on the zoom fctor, spect rtio, nd other settings. See the Appendix for detils bout how fr to plce the projector from the screen bsed on the size of the projected imge. When correcting keystone distortion, your imge is slightly smller. The imge size increses the frther the

19 Projector Connections 19 You cn connect the projector to vriety of computer, video, nd udio sources to disply presenttions, movies, or other imges, with or without sound. Attention Check the shpe nd orienttion of the connectors on ny cble you pln to connect. Do not force connector into port if it does not fit. The device or your projector could be dmged or could mlfunction. See the Quick Strt Guide for list of cbles supplied with your projector. Purchse optionl or commercilly vilble cbles when necessry. Connect computer tht hs USB port, stndrd video output (monitor) port, or HDMI port. For video projection, connect devices such s DVD plyers, gming consoles, digitl cmers, nd smrtphones with comptible video output ports. If your presenttion or video includes sound, you cn connect udio input cbles. Mke sure the udio cble is lbeled "No resistnce". Connect the VGA computer cble to your computer's monitor port. Do one of the following to instll the Epson USB Disply softwre: You only need to instll this softwre the first time you connect the projector to the computer. Connecting to Computer for USB Video nd Audio If your computer meets the system requirements, you cn send video nd udio output to the projector through the computer's USB port. This function is clled USB Disply. Connect the projector to your computer using USB cble. e Windows: Select Run EMP_UDSE.EXE in the dilog box tht is displyed to instll the Epson USB Disply softwre. Mc: The Epson USB Disply setup folder is displyed on your screen. Select USB Disply Instller nd follow the on-screen instructions to instll the Epson USB Disply softwre. If the USB Disply Setup folder is not displyed utomticlly, double-click EPSON_PJ_UD > USB Disply Instller. Follow ny on-screen instructions. Do not disconnect the USB cble or turn off the projector until the projector displys n imge. If you use USB hub, the connection my not operte correctly. Connect the USB cble directly to the projector. The projector displys the imge from your computer's desktop nd outputs sound if your presenttion contins udio. Connect the cble to your projector's USB-B port. Contct the mnufcturer of your smrtphone or tblet device to check if your device supports MHL. Attention If you connect n MHL cble tht does not support the MHL stndrd, the smrtphone or tblet device my become hot, or lekge or explosion my hppen. 26 Instlling Btteries in the Remote Control 26 The remote control uses the two AA btteries tht cme with the projector. Attention Mke sure you red the Sfety Instructions before hndling the btteries. Remove the bttery cover s shown. c Wrning Check the positions of the (+) nd ( ) mrks inside the bttery holder to ensure the btteries re inserted the correct wy. If the btteries re not used correctly, they could explode or lek cusing fire, injury, or dmge to the product. Replce the bttery cover nd press it down until it clicks into plce. b Insert the btteries with the + nd ends fcing s shown.

27 Remote Control Opertion 27 The remote control lets you control the projector from lmost nywhere in the room. Mke sure tht you im the remote control t the projector's receivers within the distnce nd ngles listed here. Avoid using the remote control in conditions with bright fluorescent lights or in direct sunlight, or the projector my not respond to commnds. If you re not going to use the remote control for long time, remove the btteries.

30 Turning On the Projector 30 Turn on the computer or video equipment you wnt to use fter you turn on the projector. Connect the power cord to the projector's power inlet nd plug it into n electricl outlet. c Open the projector's lens cover. b The projector's power indictor turns blue. This indictes tht the projector is receiving power, but is not yet turned on (it is in stndby mode). Press the power button on the control pnel or remote control to turn on the projector. The projector beeps nd the sttus indictor flshes blue s the projector wrms up. Once the projector is wrmed up, the sttus indictor stops flshing nd turns blue. Try the following if you do not see projected imge. Verify the lens cover is open ll the wy. Turn on the connected computer or video device. Chnge the screen output from the computer when using lptop computer. Insert DVD or other video medi, nd press ply (if necessry). Press the [Source Serch] button on the control pnel or remote control to detect the source. Press the button for the desired video source on the remote control. If the Home screen is displyed, select the source you wnt to project.

31 Turning On the Projector 31 Wrning Never look into the projector lens when the lmp is on. This cn dmge your eyes nd is especilly dngerous for children. When turning on the projector t distnce using the remote control, mke sure there is no one looking into the lens. During projection, do not block the light from the projector with book or other objects. If the light from the projector is blocked, the re on which the light shines becomes hot which could cuse it to melt, burn, or strt fire. Also, the lens my get hot due to the reflected light which could cuse the projector to mlfunction. To stop projection, use the A/V Mute function, or turn off the projector. A mercury lmp with high internl pressure is used s the projector's light source. If the lmp is subjected to vibrtions or shocks, or if it is used for n overly extended length of time, the lmp my brek or it my not turn on. If the lmp explodes, gses my escpe nd smll frgments of glss my be scttered which could cuse n injury. Be sure to observe the instructions below. Do not disssemble or dmge the lmp or subject it to ny impcts. Do not bring your fce close to the projector while it is in use. Prticulr cre should be tken when the projector is instlled to ceiling, s smll pieces of glss my fll down when the lmp cover is removed. When clening the projector or replcing the lmp yourself, be very creful not to llow such pieces of glss to get into the eyes or mouth. If the lmp breks, ventilte the re immeditely, nd contct doctor if ny frgments of broken glss re inhled or get into the eyes or mouth. 33 Turning Off the Projector 33 Turn off the projector fter use. Turn off this product when it is not in use to prolong the life of the projector. Lmp life vries depending on the mode selected, environmentl conditions, nd usge. Brightness decreses over time. Since the projector supports the direct shutdown feture, it cn be turned off directly using the breker. c To trnsport or store the projector, mke sure the power indictor is blue (but not flshing) nd the sttus indictor is off, then unplug the power cord. Press the power button on the control pnel or remote control. The projector displys shutdown confirmtion screen. b Press the power button gin. (To leve it on, press ny other button.) The projector beeps twice, the lmp turns off, nd the sttus indictor turns off. d Close the projector's lens cover. With Epson's Instnt Off technology, there is no cool-down period so you cn pck up the projector for trnsport right wy.

34 Selecting the Lnguge for the Projector Menus 34 If you wnt to view the projector's menus nd messges in nother lnguge, you cn chnge the Lnguge setting. b Turn on the projector. Rer flips the imge horizontlly to project from behind trnslucent screen. 37 Adjusting the Imge Height 37 If you re projecting from tble or other flt surfce nd the imge is too high or low, you cn djust the imge height using the projector's djustble feet. The lrger the ngle of tilt, the hrder it becomes to focus. Locte the projector so tht it only needs to be tilted t smll ngle. b Turn on the projector nd disply n imge. To djust the front foot, pull up on the foot relese lever nd lift the front of the projector. d If the imge is tilted, rotte the rer feet to djust their height. A Extend the rer foot B Retrct the rer foot c The foot extends from the projector. You cn djust the position up to 12 degrees. Relese the lever to lock the foot. Any sound or video ction continues to run, however, so you cnnot resume projection t the point tht you stopped it. You cn lso stop projection using the A/V Mute slide lever on the projector. The projector's power utomticlly turns off 30 minutes fter A/V Mute is enbled. You cn disble this feture in the projector's ECO menu. s ECO > Lens Cover Timer s ECO > A/V Mute Timer The lmp is still operting during A/V Mute, so the lmp hours continue to ccumulte. When projecting imges from n Epson document cmer using USB connection, you cn enlrge the selected re from one to eight times its size in 57 incrementl steps. Press the [E-Zoom] + button on the remote control. b You see crosshir on the screen indicting the center of the zoom re. Use the following buttons on the remote control to djust the zoomed imge: Use the rrow buttons to position the crosshir in the imge re you wnt to zoom into. If the User's Logo Protection setting is set to On in the Pssword Protection setting menu, set to Off before sving the user's logo. You cn set unique projector ID for ech projector to operte them individully using remote control, nd then correct the brightness nd color for ech projector. d Use the rrow buttons to select the identifiction number you wnt to use for the projector. Then press [Enter]. In some cses the brightness nd color tone my not mtch completely even fter correction. The current Projector ID is displyed on the projected screen. It disppers fter bout 3 seconds. The projector you wnt to operte is selected. c Press the [ID] button to check if the ID-setting process worked. You see messge displyed by the projector. If the remote control is listed s On, you cn operte the projector from the remote control. If the remote control is listed s Off, you cnnot operte the projector from the remote control. Repet the steps bove to enble the remote control. When you select 0 on the remote control, you cn operte ll projectors regrdless the Projector ID setting. You must select the projector ID from the remote control ech time you turn on the projector you hve set it to control. When you turn on the projector, 0 is selected s the remote control's projector ID. When you set the Projector ID setting to Off, you cn operte the projector using the remote control whichever ID you select on the remote control.

73 Projector Security Fetures You cn secure your projector to deter theft or prevent unintended use by setting up the following security fetures: Pssword security to prevent people who do not know the pssword from using the projector, nd prevent chnges to the strtup screen nd other settings. This cts s n nti-theft function s the projector cnnot be used even if it is stolen, nd you cn limit who cn use the projector. Button lock security to block opertion of the projector using the buttons on the control pnel. This is useful t events or shows when you wnt to dectivte ll buttons during projection or t schools when you wnt to limit button opertion. User's Logo Protection pssword prevents nyone from chnging the custom screen displyed when the projector turns on, when no signl is being input, or when you use the A/V Mute feture. The custom screen discourges theft by identifying the projector's owner. Network Protection pssword prevents nyone from chnging the projector's Network settings. Screen Mirroring Protec. pssword prevents nyone from chnging the projector's Screen Mirroring settings (EB U42). You see the Pssword Protection setting menu. If Pssword Protection is lredy ctivted, you must enter the correct pssword to disply the Pssword Protection setting menu.

74 Projector Security Fetures 74 b c d Select Pssword nd press [Enter]. You see the prompt "Chnge the pssword?". Select Yes nd press [Enter]. If you select No, the Pssword Protection setting menu is displyed gin. Hold down the [Num] button on the remote control nd use the numeric buttons to set four-digit pssword. e f g The pssword displys s **** s it is entered. A confirmtion prompt is displyed when you enter the fourth digit. Enter the pssword gin. You see the messge "Pssword ccepted". If you enter the pssword incorrectly, messge is displyed prompting you to re-enter the pssword. Press [Esc] to return to the menu. Mke note of the pssword nd keep it in sfe plce. Selecting Pssword Security Types After setting pssword, you see this menu, llowing you to select the pssword security types you wnt to use. If you do not see this menu, hold down the [Freeze] button on the remote control for 5 seconds until the menu ppers. To prevent unuthorized use of the projector, select On s the Power On Protection setting. To prevent chnges to the User's Logo screen or relted disply settings, select On s the User's Logo Protection setting. To prevent chnges to network settings, select On s the Network Protection setting.

Projector Keyword lets you turn on security pssword to prevent ccess to the projector by nyone not in the room with it. If you selected the Advnced connection mode, select Serch Access Point to select the ccess point you wnt to connect to. k l m If you wnt to connect the projector to the network using IPv6, select IPv6 Settings to set the IPv6 setting to On, nd then set the Auto Configurtion nd Use Temporry Address settings s necessry. To prevent the SSID or IP ddress from being displyed on the LAN stndby screen nd Home screen, set the SSID Disply setting or the IP Address Disply setting to Off. When you hve finished selecting settings, select Complete nd then follow the on-screen instructions to sve your settings nd exit the menus. Press the [LAN] button on the remote control. The wireless network settings re complete when you see the correct IP ddress on the LAN stndby screen. j If you need to ssign the SSID mnully, select SSID to enter the SSID. For the Advnced connection mode, ssign the IP settings for your network s necessry. If your network ssigns ddresses utomticlly, select IP Settings to set the DHCP setting to On. If you must set ddresses mnully, select IP Settings to set the DHCP setting to Off, nd then enter the projector's IP Address, Subnet Msk, nd Gtewy Address s necessry. When you hve finished mking wireless settings for your projector, you need to select the wireless network on your computer. Then strt the network softwre to send imges to your projector through wireless network.

Using QR Code to Connect Mobile Device When connection is estblished, select Contents menu from then select the file you wnt to project., nd After selecting the wireless network settings for your projector, you cn disply QR code on the screen nd use it to connect mobile device using the Epson iprojection (ios/android) pp. Mke sure you hve instlled the ltest version of Epson iprojection on your device (V1.3.0 or lter supports this feture). You cn downlod Epson iprojection for free from the App Store or Google Ply. Any fees incurred when communicting with the App Store or Google Ply re the responsibility of the customer. When using Epson iprojection in Quick connection mode, we recommend mking security settings. Using USB Key to Connect Windows Computer You cn set up your USB flsh drive s USB key to quickly connect the projector to wireless LAN supported Windows computer. After creting the USB key, you cn quickly project imges from the network projector. Set up the USB key using Epson iprojection (Windows/Mc) softwre. See the Epson iprojection Opertion Guide (Windows/Mc) for instructions.

Attention If you continue to use the lmp fter the replcement period hs pssed, the possibility tht the lmp my explode increses.
