3 Sfety Wrning nd Cutions 3 Mke sure you red the following before you use the projector. s Sfety Instructions Wrning nd Cutions on Instlltion An optionl ceiling mount is required when suspending the projector from ceiling. s "Optionl Accessories" p.211 Wrning Do not use or instll the projector where it my be subject to wter or rin, or high humidity, such s outdoors, in bthroom, or shower room, nd so on. Otherwise, it could cuse fire or electric shock. A specil method of instlltion is required when suspending the projector from ceiling (ceiling mount). If instlltion work is not crried out correctly, the projector could fll down. This my result in injury or ccidents. Contct your locl deler or the nerest ddress provided in the Epson Projector Contct List. s Epson Projector Contct List If you use dhesives on the ceiling mount fixing points to prevent the screws from loosening, or if you use things such s lubricnts or oils on the projector, the projector cse my crck cusing it to fll from its ceiling mount. This could cuse n ccident or injury to nyone under the ceiling mount. When instlling or djusting the ceiling mount, do not use dhesives to prevent the screws from loosening nd do not use oils or lubricnts nd so on. Do not cover the projector's ir intke vent or ir exhust vent. If either of the vents re covered, the internl temperture could rise nd cuse fire. Do not plce flmmble objects in front of the lens. If you set the schedule to turn on the projector utomticlly, ny flmmble objects plced in front of the lens could cuse fire. Do not tie the power cord nd other connection cbles together. Otherwise, it could cuse fire. Only use the specified power-supply voltge. Otherwise, it could cuse fire or electric shock.

Note the following when hndling the power cord. - Do not plug multiple power cords in single electric outlet. - Do not plug in the power cord if there re ny foreign substnces, such s dust, stuck to it. - Mke sure you insert the power cord ll the wy in. - Do not plug in or unplug the power cord with wet hnds. - Do not pull the cord when unplugging the power cord. Mke sure you hold it by the plug. Do not use dmged power cord. Otherwise, it could cuse fire or electric shock. Note the following when hndling the power cord. - Do not lter the power cord. - Do not plce ny hevy objects on the power cord. - Do not bend, twist, or pull the power cord forcibly. - Do not lyout the power cord ner heting device. Attention Do not instll the projector in loction tht is subject to vibrtion or shock. Do not instll the projector ner high-voltge line or object tht genertes mgnetism. Otherwise the projector my not work correctly. Do not use or store the projector in loction tht is subject to extreme tempertures. Also, void sudden temperture chnges. Mke sure you use or store the projector in plce tht is within the following operting or storge temperture rnges. - Operting temperture rnge 0 to +45 C (Altitude of 0 to 1,500 m, no condenstion) 0 to +40 C (Altitude of 1,501 to 3,048 m, no condenstion) - Storge temperture rnge: -10 to +60 C (No condenstion) When using t n ltitude tht exceeds 1,500 m, set High Altitude Mode to On. s Extended - Opertion - High Altitude Mode p.133 The projector cn be instlled t ny ngle. There is no verticl or horizontl limit to how the projector cn be instlled. Cution Do not plce the projector on n unstble surfce, such s on n unstble tble or tilted surfce. When projecting verticlly, instll the projector ppropritely to prevent the projector from flling. Otherwise it my cuse n injury. You my need dedicted instlltion mounts to tilt nd instll the projector. Contct professionl nd prepre the mount. Pln so tht the mount does not fll.

5 Sfety Wrning nd Cutions 5 Attention Mke sure you secure the following spce round the projector so s not to block the ir exhust vent nd the ir intke vent. Attention Use commercilly vilble M6 screws (up to depth of 12 mm) to fix the projector's ceiling mount fixing points nd the mount t four points. When setting up multiple projectors, mke sure there is gp of t lest 50 cm between the projectors. Also, mke sure tht the het from the ir exhust vent does not go into the ir intke vent. When instlling the projector with the ir intke vent fcing down, mke sure there is gp of t lest 10 cm between the projector nd the floor nd so on. Mke sure there is gp of 500 x 200 mm for the bse so tht the ir intke vent is not blocked. Do not use two projectors t the sme time when stcking two projectors directly on top of ech other. Instll the projector so tht there is no dnger tht it will fll. We recommend setting the focus, zoom, nd lens shift t lest 20 minutes fter you strt the projection, becuse imges re not stble right fter turning on the projector. When djusting the imge height with the verticl lens shift, djust by moving the imge from the bottom to the top. If it is djusted from the top to the bottom, the imge position my move down slightly fter djusting.

6 Sfety Wrning nd Cutions 6 Wrning nd Cutions on Usge Wrning Do not cover the projector's ir intke vent or ir exhust vent. If either of the vents is covered, the internl temperture could rise nd cuse fire. Do not look into the lens while projecting. The powerful light emitted could cuse dmge to eyesight. Tke prticulr cre when there re children present. When turning on the projector t distnce using the remote control, mke sure there is no one looking into the lens. During projection, do not block the light from the projector with the lens cover (removble) or book nd so on. If the light from the projector is blocked, the re on which the light shines becomes hot which could cuse it to melt, burn, or strt fire. Also, the lens my get hot due to the reflected light which could cuse the projector to mlfunction. To stop projection, use the A/V Mute function, or turn off the projector. Do not open the projector's cse. Never disssemble or remodel the projector. There re high-voltge components inside the projector tht could cuse fire, electric shock, or n ccident. If n error occurs, disconnect the power cord from the electricl outlet, nd contct your locl deler or the nerest ddress provided in the Epson Projector Contct List. If you continue using the projector s it is, it could cuse n electric shock, fire, or even dmge to eyesight. s Epson Projector Contct List Attention Only remove the lens unit when necessry. If dust or dirt enter the projector, projection qulity deteriortes nd it could cuse mlfunction. Try not to touch the lens section with your hnd or fingers. If fingerprints or oils re left on the surfce of the lens, projection qulity deteriortes. Store the projector with the lens unit instlled. If the projector is stored without the lens unit, dust nd dirt my get inside the projector nd cuse mlfunctions or lower the qulity of projection. When storing, mke sure you remove the btteries from the remote control. If the btteries re left in the remote control for n extended period of time, they my lek. Cution Do not plce objects tht my become wrped or otherwise ffected by het ner the ir exhust vent nd do not put your fce or hnds ner the vent while projection is in progress.

7 Sfety Wrning nd Cutions 7 About the LCD pnel - The LCD pnel my contin pixels tht re missing or pper bright ll the time. This is not sign of n error. - When high-powered lser bems through the surfce of the projection lens even when it is not being used, it cn cuse mlfunction in the LCD pnel. Attch the lens cover when storing the projector. About the light source The projector uses lser s the light source. The lser hs the following chrcteristics. - Depending on the surroundings, the brightness of the light source my decline. The brightness declines lot when the temperture gets too high. - The brightness of the light source declines the longer it is used. You cn chnge the reltionship between usge time nd decline in brightness in Brightness Settings. s "Reltionship between Brightness Level nd usge time" p.76 About light source clibrtion - Whenever the usge time reches 100 hours, clibrtion strts utomticlly for the light source when the projector is turned off. However, this does not strt utomticlly when the projector is used continuously for more thn 24 hours, or when direct shutdown is used regulrly. Set Light Source Clibrtion in the scheduling function. s "Scheduling Function" p When performing light source clibrtion, the difference between the white blnce nd the brightness level for the light source is corrected. Wrning nd Cutions on the Lser Wrning Lser wrning lbels re ttched inside the projector nd on the side of the projector. Inside Side Do not open the projector's cse. The projector contins high-powered lser. Possibly hzrdous opticl rdition emitted from this product. Do not look t operting light source. Eye injury my result.

8 Sfety Wrning nd Cutions 8 Cution This projector is Clss 1 lser product tht complies with the IEC interntionl stndrd for lsers. Do not disssemble the projector when disposing of it. Dispose ccording to your locl or ntionl lws nd regultions. Notes on Trnsporting There re mny glss prts nd precision components inside the projector. To prevent dmge due to impcts when trnsporting, hndle the projector s follows. Cution The projector should not be crried by one person. At lest two people re needed to unpck or crry the projector. Attention Moving Nerby - Turn off the power to the projector nd disconnect ll cbles. - Attch the cover to the lens. When Trnsporting After checking the points in "Moving Nerby", prepre the following nd then pck up the projector. - Remove the lens unit if n option lens is instlled. - If the projector does not hve lens, ttch the cover tht ws on the lens mount when you purchsed the projector. - Attch the lens if the projector hs built-in lens. Upon purchse, ttch the protective pd tht is ttched round the lens unit. - Move the lens position to the home position. s "Adjusting the Position of the Projected Imge (Lens Shift)" p.33 - Enclose the projector securely in pckging mteril to protect it from shock, nd plce it into strong crdbord continer. Do not ttch the lens unit when the projector's lens insertion section is fcing up. Dust or dirt could enter the projector. Try not to touch the lens section with your hnd or fingers. If fingerprints or oils re left on the surfce of the lens, projection qulity deteriortes. b Hold the lock lever nd turn it counterclockwise. The projector supports lens with the following model numbers. ELPLM08 (not vilble for EB-L1505U/EB-L1500U), ELPLX01 (not vilble for EB-L1505U/EB-L1500U), ELPLU03, ELPLU04, ELPLW05, ELPLW06, ELPLM09, ELPLM10, ELPLM11, ELPLL08, ELPLS04, ELPLU02, ELPLR04, ELPLW04, ELPLM06, ELPLM07, ELPLL07 When using the following lens, set the Lens Type in the Configurtion menu ccording to the lens you re using so tht distortion correction is performed correctly. After ttching lens unit tht differs from the previous one, messge is displyed when the projector is turned on. Select Yes to clibrte the lens. Lens clibrtion tkes up to bout 100 seconds until it is complete. When it is complete, the lens position returns to the position before the clibrtion (ELPLX01 returns to the stndrd position). d While holding the lens unit firmly, hold the lock lever nd turn it clockwise to lock the lens unit. Check tht the lens cnnot be detched. Attention If the messge "Lens Clibrtion filed." is displyed, stop using the projector, remove the power plug from the electricl outlet, nd contct your locl deler or the nerest ddress provided in the Epson Projector Contct List. s Epson Projector Contct List e Attch the lens replcement cover. You cn lso clibrte the lens from the Configurtion menu. s Extended - Opertion - Lens Clibrtion p.133 If you ttch lens unit tht is the sme s the previous one, clibrte the lens from the Configurtion menu. The imge will be clerest when the lens position is moved to the home position. If you hold down the [Lens Shift] button on the remote control or the [Lens] button on the control pnel for t lest three seconds, the lens position moves to the home position. If you set A/V Output to Alwys On, you cn move the lens position to the home position even if the projector is in stndby mode. s Extended - A/V Settings - A/V Output p.133 ELPLR04 does not support lens shift. b Press the [ ][ ][ ][ ] buttons to djust the position of the projected imge. Repetedly press the [Lens] button on the control pnel until the focus djustment screen is displyed. Registering nd Loding Lens Adjustment Vlues You cn register lens position whose lens shift, zoom, focus, nd distortion ws djusted in memory, nd lod it when necessry. You cn register up to 10 vlues. This feture cnnot be used if the following lenses re ttched. ELPLS04, ELPLU02, ELPLR04, ELPLW04, ELPLM06, ELPLM07, ELPLL07 If you did not clibrte your lens, messge is displyed when you sve memory. Select Yes to clibrte the lens. The lens position when memory is loded my not completely mtch the lens position when the memory ws sved. However, if the btteries re left out for long time, it is reset to the defult vlue (ID0). Setting the Time You cn set the time for the projector. 56 Turning On the Projector 56 Before turning on the projector, connect your computer or video equipment to the projector. s "Connecting Equipment" p.45 Connect the projector to n electricl outlet with the power cord. Press the [Serch] button on the control pnel or the remote control to detect the input source. Press the button for the input source tht you wnt to project by using the remote control. If the Home screen is displyed, select the input source tht you wnt to project. Wrning Do not look into the projector's lens during projection. Doing so my dmge your eyes. Be especilly creful if children re present. During projection, do not block the light from the projector with book nd so on. If the light from the projector is blocked for long time, the re on which the light shines becomes hot which could cuse it to melt, burn, or strt fire. Also, the lens my get hot due to the reflected light which could cuse the projector to mlfunction. To stop projection, use the A/V Mute function or turn off the projector. b The projector's power indictor turns blue (it is in stndby mode). This indictes tht the projector is receiving power, but is not yet turned on. Press the [ ] button on the control pnel or remote control to turn on the projector. The confirmtion buzzer beeps nd the sttus indictor flshes blue s the projector wrms up. Once the projector is wrmed up, the sttus indictor stops flshing nd turns blue. If the imge is not projected, try the following. Turn on the connected computer or video equipment. When using lptop computer, chnge the screen output of the computer. Insert medi such s DVD nd ply it bck. Home Screen If Direct Power On is set to On in the Extended menu, the projector utomticlly turns on when the power cord is connected to it. The light source's operting life vries depending on the Configurtion menu settings, environmentl conditions, nd usge conditions. The brightness of the projected imge drops s projection time elpses. The projector cn be powered off directly by the breker becuse it supports the direct shutdown function. When the projector is used continuously for more thn 24 hours, or when direct shutdown is used regulrly, set Light Source Clibrtion using the scheduling function to djust the light source periodiclly. s "Scheduling Function" p.113 Press the [t] button on the control pnel or the remote control. If the [Freeze] button is pressed while the Configurtion menu or the Help screen is displyed, the menu or the Help screen tht is displyed is closed. Freeze still works while E-Zoom is being used. Enlrging Prt of the Imge (E-Zoom) This is useful when you wnt to expnd imges to see them in greter detil, such s grphs nd tbles. Freezing the Imge (Freeze) When Freeze is ctivted on moving imges, the frozen imge continues to project on the screen, so you cn project moving imge one frme t time like still photo. Also, you cn perform opertions such s chnging between files during presenttions from computer without projecting ny imges if the Freeze function is ctivted beforehnd.

Power On Protection When Power On Protection is On, you need to enter preset pssword fter the projector is plugged in nd turned on (this lso pplies to Direct Power On). If the correct pssword is not entered, projection does not strt. User's Logo Protection Even if someone tries to chnge the User's Logo set by the owner of the projector, it cnnot be chnged. When User's Logo Protection is set to On, the following setting chnges for the User's Logo re prohibited. The btch setup function is only for projectors with the sme model number. Use one of the following methods. Setup using USB flsh drive. Setup by connecting the computer nd projector with USB cble. Setup using EsyMP Network Updter. This mnul explins the USB flsh drive nd the USB cble methods. The following content is not reflected by the btch setup function. - The Network menu settings (except for the Notifictions menu nd the Others menu) - Sttus nd Light Source Info in the Info menu Perform btch setup before djusting the projected imge. Adjustment vlues for the projected imge, such s Geometry Correction re reflected by the btch setup function.
