1 Inventor of Photon counting detectors Hybrid pixel detectors Do not adapt your system to the detector, let us adapt the detector to your system 1
2 imxpad stands for Imaging with the XPAD detector, our goal is to create high-end X-ray hybrid pixel detectors. Xpad detectors are based on the photon counting technology providing quasinoiseless imaging with very high dynamic range (32 bits) and fast frame rates (up to 700 images/s). Energy discrimination, only possible with photon counting detectors, opens the possibility to color imaging. Silicon and CdTe are the sensor material used by our detectors. These detectors are particularly relevant in material sciences (synchrotron beam lines and X-ray laboratory analysis), biomedical imaging (color CT), non destructive and industrial quality control, and cultural heritage analysis (art restauration). We are committed to satisfy your needs as well as to insure an efficient customer service. Xpad detectors can be always modify to adapt to your special requirements.
3 The miracle of the photon counting detectors 15 years In CCD s and CMOS the X-ray energy is converted in light and cumulated within the noise giving an analogue signal to be numerated In photon counting, the noise is rejected by energy threshold and each X-ray element (photon) is directly converted and counted giving a numerical information The X photons are converted in Visible Light X- photon Hybrid pixel detectors X- photon PIXELS HYBRIDES Photon counting Photon X 10 kev Capteur Conversion Direct conversion directe Photon in the sensor électrons scintillator integrated in the CCD Optical fibres CCD or CMOS Analog readout Digital readout CCD or CMOS No integration La signature du photon est conservée On peut compter les photons 1 par 1 The noise is not counted On peut sélectionner l énergie The photons are counted one by on with energy selection No noise Very high dynamic range High image rate (> 500 images/sec) Short gate (electronic shutter ~ 100 ns) Stacking (adding image sequences) Time resolved experiments Volts Threshold Photon pulse Noise time
