9 CONNECTING YOUR TV Conneting externl equipment Before onneting ny externl equipment, turn off ll min power swithes. If there is no swith, remove the mins plug from the wll soket. We reommend SCART 1 for deoder nd SCART 2 for medi reorder. If onneting S-Video equipment, set EXT 2 Input mode to S- VIDEO. See pge 41. If the television utomtilly swithes over to monitor externl equipment, return to norml television y pressing the desired progrmme position utton. To rell externl equipment, press o to selet etween DTV, EXT 1, EXT 2, EXT 3, HDMI 1, HDMI 2, HDMI 3, HDMI 4, PC or ATV. When the externl input mode is seleted while viewing DTV mode, the SCART soket does not output video/udio signls. The SCART output will lso e muted in EPG mode. 10 CONNECTING YOUR TV Conneting n HDMI or DVI devie to the HDMI input The HDMI input on your television reeives digitl udio nd unompressed digitl video from n HDMI soure devie or unompressed digitl video from DVI (Digitl Visul Interfe) soure devie. This input is designed to ept HDCP (High-Bndwidth Digitl-Content Protetion) progrmme mteril in digitl form from EIA/CEA-861-D omplint [1] onsumer eletroni devies (suh s set-top ox or DVD plyer with HDMI or DVI output). For eptle video signl formts, see pge 51. NOTE: Some erly HDMI equipment my not work properly with your ltest HDMI TV, due to the doption of new stndrd. Plese unplug your HDMI le first nd then try setting the following options (Lip Syn, INSTAPORT ) to Off. Your erly HDMI soure should operte properly with your television. See pge 41. Supported Audio formt: Liner PCM, smpling rte 32/ 44.1/48kHz. To onnet n HDMI devie Connet n HDMI le (type A onnetor) to the HDMI terminl. For proper opertion, it is reommended tht you use n HDMI le with the HDMI Logo ( ). If your HDMI onnetion is ple of 1080p nd/or your television is ple of refresh rtes greter thn 50Hz, you will need Ctegory 2 le. Conventionl HDMI/DVI le my not work properly with this mode. HDMI le trnsfers oth video nd udio. Seprte nlogue udio les re not required (see illustrtion). See HDMI 1 Audio on pge 41. The HDMI 4 terminl is loted on the side of the television. Connet n HDMI-to-DVI dpter le (HDMI type A onnetor) to the HDMI 1 terminl nd udio les to the PC/ HDMI1 (AUDIO) soket (see illustrtion). The reommended HDMI-to-DVI dpter le length is 6.6 ft (2m). To onnet PC to the RGB/PC terminl When onneting PC to the RGB/PC terminl on the television, use n nlogue RGB (15-pin) omputer le nd PC udio le for the PC/HDMI1 (AUDIO) soket. Selet PC from the PC/HDMI 1 Audio options in the AV Connetion menu loted in the SETUP menu. the k of your television When PC input mode is seleted, some of the television s fetures will e unville e.g. Mnul Settings in the SETUP menu, Colour, Tint, Shrpness nd Blk/White Level in the PICTURE menu. To onnet PC to the HDMI terminl When onneting PC to the HDMI terminl on the television, use n HDMI-to-DVI dpter le nd n nlogue udio le. If onneting PC with n HDMI terminl, use n HDMI le (type A onnetor). 12 CONNECTING YOUR TV Controls nd input onnetions A wide vriety of externl equipment n e onneted to the input sokets on the side of the television. Whilst ll the neessry djustments nd ontrols for the television re mde using the remote ontrol, the uttons on the television my e used for some funtions. Stndy Illustrtion represents 40LV685D. POWER swith COMMON INTERFACE The Common Interfe is for Conditionl Aess Module (CAM). Contt servie provider. USB port To ess photo files HDMI 4 INPUT (Not ville on ll models.) Input 3 (side) will tke priority over EXT 3 (k) if oth onnetions re used t the sme time. ORANGE LED - Progrmme timer set (digitl only) RED LED Progrmme timer Ative (digitl only) GREEN LED On Timer set RED LED Stndy GREEN LED Power on INPUT 3 (EXT 3) Swithing on If the RED LED is unlit, hek tht the mins plug is onneted to the power supply nd press the! (POWER) utton on the left side of the television to swith the television on. If the piture does not pper, press 1 on the remote ontrol. It my tke few moments. The GREEN LED will e lit. To put the television into Stndy, press 1 on the remote ontrol. To view the television, press 1 gin. The piture my tke few seonds to pper. Using the remote ontrol Press MENU on the remote ontrol to disply the menu. The menu ppers s list of five topis. As eh symol is seleted y pressing C or on the nvigtion ring on the remote ontrol, its respetive options will pper elow. NOTE: The sme menu is displyed in DTV (Digitl TV) nd ATV (Anlogue TV) modes; however, some items re greyed out in eh se. To operte the menu, press B nd on the remote ontrol to move up nd down, press C or to selet your desired setting. Follow the on-sreen instrutions. The funtions of eh menu re desried in detil throughout the mnul. Using the ontrols nd onnetions To lter the volume press 2 +. To lter the progrmme position press p B. Press MENU nd I, i, U or u to ontrol the sound nd piture options. Press MENU to finish. An S-Video le provides etter piture performne thn omposite video le. If you onnet n S-Video le to EXT 3, e sure to disonnet the stndrd (omposite) video le or the piture performne will e uneptle. To selet n externl input, press o until the pproprite input soure is seleted s desried on pge 40. Plese lwys refer to the owner s mnul of the equipment to e onneted for full detils. 13 SETTING UP YOUR TV Strtup Applition Before swithing on the television, put your deoder nd medi reorder, if pplile, to Stndy.
