No. D28A/D28B INSTRUCTION MANUAL CTZ-B Explanation of Displays and Buttons Although the display may vary according to the model, the operating procedure is the same. 2. Features This watch is a digital watch equipped with numerous funcions including time display, calendar, alarm, stopwatch, timer 1, timer 2, and a chime. In addition, it also has an EL (electroluminescence) internal illumination function that enables the display to be viewed in the dark. 3. Switching the mode Pressing button M switches mode in the manner shown below. The date is displayed for as long as button A is pressed while the watch is showing the nornal time display. 5. Setting the Time and Calendar 1) Pressing and holding button B in for at least 1 second while in the time and calendar display causes the seconds digits to flash enabling the seconds to be reset 2) Press button A to reset the seconds. When the seconds displayed are from 30 seconds to 59 seconds, pressing button A returns the seconds digits to zero and advances the minutes by 1. 3) Each time button B is pressed, the flashing portion of the display will change as shown below. Press button B until the digits of the display you want to correct flashes. 4) Press button A to correct the flashing digits of the display. Pressing and holding button A in will cause the flashing digits to advance rapidly. 5) After making the correction, press button M to return the watch to the normal time diplay. When using a 12-hour clock for displaying time, make sure AM or PM is set correctly. If the calendar is set to a date that does not exist (such as February 30), the date will automatically be corrected to the first day of the following month as the watch is returned to the normal time display. The calendar does not have to be corrected on the last day of the month.the watch performs this automatically. The watch does use February 29 however. Pressing button M while in the setting state, returns the watch to the normal time display. If a button is not pressed for 1 minute while in the setting state, the watch will automatically return to the normal time display.

2 6. Use of Alarm and Chime Once the alarm has been set to on (set time is displayed), the alarm will sound at the same time each day until it is cancelled (set to off). When the chime is turned on, it will sound (two beeps) every hour on the hour. 7. Use of the Stopwatch The stopwatch function is able to measure and display time in 1/100 second increments up to a maximum of 59 minutes, seconds. The stopwatch returns to 00 after measuring 59 minutes and seconds, after which it continues measuring time. [Use of Integrated Measurement] (1)The stopwatch is started and stopped by pressing button B. (2)The stopwatch is reset by pressing button A while it is stopped. [Switching the Alarm and Chime On and Off] 1) Each time button A is pressed in the normal alarm mode, the alarm and chime will be switched between on and off as shown in the illustration previously. [Setting the Alarm] 1) When button B is pressed continuously for 1 second or more while in the normal alarm mode, the hours display will flash indicating that the watch is in the alarm setting mode. 2) Press button A to correct the hours. 3) When button B is pressed, the minutes display will flash. Press button A to set the minutes. (Pressing button A continuously causes the minutes display to advance rapidly. 4) Each time button button B is pressed, the display will alternate between hours and minutes. 5) After setting the hours and minutes, press button M to return the watch to the normal alarm display. [Duration of Alarm Sound] The alarm sounds for approximately 16 seconds. [Stopping the Alarm Sound] The alarm sound can be stopped by pressing any button. [Alarm Sound Monitor] The alarm sound monitor can be activated for 15 seconds by continuously pressing button A for at least 1 second while in the normal alarm display. * The watch automatically returns to the normal alarm display if none of the watch buttons are pressed for 1 minute or more while in the alarm correction mode. * In addition, the watch automatically returns to the normal time display if none of the watch buttons are pressed for 12 seconds or more while in the normal alarm display. * When the time is displayed using a 12-hour clock, make sure AM or PM is set correctly. [Measurement of Split Time (Intermediate Elapsed Time)] (1) Press B button to start measuring time. (2) Press button A stops the stopwatch display to show the split time. * Measurement of time continues internally even though the stopwatch display is not running. (3) Pressing button A again cancels the display of split time as measurement continues with the display showing the elapsed time from the start (the stopwatch display begins to run again). * Repeat steps (2) and (3) if desired, to repeatedly display split time. (4) Pressing button B while the split time is displayed ends split time measurement. (5) When button A is pressed, the time that elapsed during display of split time is added to the measured time and that time is displayed. (6) Pressing button A again resets the stopwatch and the display returns to zero. [Simultaneous Measurement of 1st Place and 2nd Place Times] (1) Press button B to start measuring time. (2) Press button A when the 1st place competitor crosses the line. The time of the 1st placed competitor is displayed. * Measurement of the time of the 2nd place competitor crosses (3) Press button B when the 2nd place competitor crosses the finish line. Time measurement will stop at this point. * The time of the 1st place competitor is still displayed. (4) Press button A to display the time of the 2nd place competitor. (5) Pressing button A again resets the stopwatch and returns each of the displays to zero.

3 * If the watch is switched to a different mode while the stopwatch is measuring time and then switched back to stopwatch mode, the display will return to measuring as it was prior to changing modes. However, exceptions to this are as follows: (1) When the stopwatch is measuring split time, the watch will return to stopwatch measurement. (2) After measurement of split time has been ended, the watch will switch to display of final elapsed time. 8. Use of Timer 1 Timer 1 can be set in 5 minute increments from 60 minutes to 5 minutes. When measurement is completed, a signal indicating that the time is up will sound for about 3 seconds. When the set time is up, the watch will change over to the autochronograph (stopwatch) mode, and begin measuring time from 00 minutes 00 seconds. Simultaneous to the watch switching to the autochronograph mode, the time set on the timer will be cleared. Furthermore, preliminary warnings will sound when the time remaining on the timer reaches 10 minutes,5 minutes, 1 minute, 30 seconds, 20 seconds, 5 seconds, 4 seconds, 3 seconds, 2 seconds and 1 second. [Initial Timer Setting mode] * When switching back to the timer mode after having switched to a different mode from the timer initial set time, timer run mode, timer stop mode or autochronograph mode, the display will return to the same state that it was in prior to switching to the other mode. When timer measurement has ended, however, the watch automatically switches to the autochronograph measurement mode. [Using the Autochronograph] (1) When the time on timer 1 is up, the watch will automatically switch to the autochronograph mode, and begin measuring time from 00 minutes 00 seconds. 1 The autochronograph is started and stopped by pressing button B during measurement. (2) Pressing button A while in the autochronograph mode returns the watch to the Timer 1 initial set time. 9. Use of Timer 2 Timer 2 can be set in 1 minute increments from 60 minutes to 1 minute. When measurement is completed, a signal indicating that the time is up will sound for about 3 seconds after which the watch will switch to the initial set time. [Setting the Timer] (1) Pressing button A while the set time is flashing in the timer mode causes the set time to be decreased in 5 minute increments. Press button A to select the desired set time (pressing button A continuously causes the display to decrease rapidly.) [Time Measurement] (1) The timer starts to count down from the set time when button B is pressed. (2) The timer is stopped by pressing button B during measurement. The timer is restarted by pressing button B again. (3) Pressing button A when the timer is stopped, switches the watch to the initial set time. (4) Pressing button A during measurement forcibly interrupts timing and returns the watch to the initial set time after which the timer begins to count down again. [Setting the Timer] (1) Pressing button A while the set time is flashing in the Timer 2 mode causes the set time to be decreased in 1 minute increments. Press button to select the desired set time. (Pressing button A continuously causes the display to change rapidly.) [Timer Measurement] (1) The timer starts to count down from the set when button B is pressed. (2) The timer is stopped by pressing button B during measurement. The timer is restarted by pressing button B again after the time has stopped. (3) Pressing button A when the timer is stopped switches the watch to the initial set time.

4 (4) Pressing button A during measurement forcibly interrupts timing and returns the watch to the initial set time (flyback) after the timer begins to count down again. * If the watch is switched to a different mode while in the initial timer set time, the timer is running, the timer is stopped or in the autochronograph mode, and then is switched back to Timer 2 mode, the watch will display each state as it was prior to switching to the other mode. However, the watch will switch to the Timer 2 initial set time after timer measurement is completed. 10. EL Internal Illumination Function Electroluminescene (EL) refers to a scientific phenomenon in which an EL material emits light when a voltage is applied. <Using the EL Function> Pressing button C causes El internal illumination to be turned on. 11. All-Reset Procedure Perform the all-reset procedure described below after replacing the battery or when the watch does not run properly or has an abnormal display due to a strong impact (such as when there is no display showing or when the alarm sounds continuously). (1) Press buttons A, B, C and M simultaneously. * All segments in the digital display and the internal EL illumination will flash during the time the buttons are pressed. * All-reset will be activated when any of the buttons is released. A signal sounds confirming that the all-reset procedure has been performed. (2) Following completion of the all-reset procedure, reset the calendar and each of the other modes before using the watch. 12. Precautions

5 Water-resistance for daily use (to 3 atmospheres): This type of watch is water-resistant to minor exposure to water. For example, you may wear the watch while washing your face; however,it is not designed for use underwater. Upgraded water-resistance for daily use (to 5 atmospheres): This type of watch is water-resistant to moderate exposure to water. You may wear the watch while swimming; however, it is not designed for use while skin diving. Upgraded water-resistance for daily use (to 10/20 atmospheres): This type of watch may be used for skin diving; however, it is not designed for scuba or saturated diving using helium gas. CAUTION Do not operate the button with wet fingers or when the watch is wet. Water may enter the watch and compromise water-resistance. If the watch is used in seawater, rinse with fresh water afterward and wipe with a dry cloth. If moisture has entered the watch, or if the inside of the crystal is fogged up and does not become clear within a day, immediately take the watch to your dealer or Citizen Service Centre for repair. Leaving the watch in such a state will allow corrosion to form inside. If seawater enters the watch, place the watch in a box or plastic bag and immediately take it in for repair. Otherwise, pressure inside the watch will increase, and parts (crystal, buttons, etc.) may come off. CAUTION: Keep your watch clean Dust and dirt tend to be deposited in gaps in the back of the case or band. Deposited dust and dirt may cause corrosion and soil your clothing. Clean the watch occasionally. Cleaning the Watch Use a soft cloth to wipe off dirt, perspiration and water from the case and crystal. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe off perspiration and dirt from the leather band. To clean a metal, plastic, or rubber watchband, wash away dirt with mild soap and water. Use a soft brush to remove dust and dirt jammed in the gaps in the metal band. If your watch is not waterresistant, take it to your dealer. NOTE: Avoid using solvents (thinner, benzine, etc.), as they may mar the finish WARNING: Handling of the battery Keep the battery out of the reach of small children. If a child swallows the battery, contact a physician immediately. CAUTION: Replacing the Battery For replacement of the battery, take your watch to your dealer or Citizen Service Centre. Replace the battery as soon as possible if the service life of the battery has expired. Leaving a depleted battery in the watch may result in leakage, which can damage the watch severely. CAUTION: Operating environment Use the watch within the operating-temperature range specified in the instruction manual. Using the watch where temperatures are outside the specified range may result in deterioration of functions or even stoppage of the watch. Do NOT use the watch in places where it is exposed to high temperature, such as in a sauna. Doing so may result in skin burn. Do NOT leave the watch in a place where it is exposed to high temperature, such as the glove compartment or dashboard of a car. Doing so may result in deterioration of the watch, such as deformation of plastic parts. Do NOT place the watch close to a magnet. Timekeeping will become inaccurate if you place the watch close to a magnetic necklace, a magnetic latch or a refrigerator door or handbag clasp, or the earphone of a mobile phone. If this has occurred, move the watch away from the magnet and reset the time. Do NOT place the watch to close to household appliances that generate static electricity. Timekeeping may become inaccurate if the watch is exposed to strong static electricity, such as emitted from a TV screen. Do NOT subject the watch to strong shocks such as dropping it onto a hard floor. Avoid using the watch in an environment where it may be exposed to chemicals or corrosive gases. If solvents such as thinner and benzine, or substances containing such solvents, come in contact with the watch, discolouration, melting, cracking, etc., may result. If the watch comes in contact with mercury used in thermometers, the case, band or other parts may become discoloured.
