3 Dear Pilot, Thank you for purchasing the AP117 FY-OSD from Feiyu Tech. In order to achieve full potential and safe operation of this product, please carefully read this manual prior to installation. Warning: The installation and use of the AP117 require some skill and knowledge in soldering and the transmission of video downlink from your RC aircraft to a video receiver / display on the ground. If you have never done this before, please find assistance from an experienced person who may provide you with the basic knowledge required to use this device successfully. If you are already familiar with video downlinks, you will find the installation of this OSD easy and logical. Just follow the instructions as stated in this manual and you won t go wrong. Preface The AP117 OSD overlays flight telemetry information onto your video image. The telemetry information displayed includes altitude, flight speed, flight direction, and home direction. The AP117 can be connected to the FY-21AP and FY-3ZT systems to display autopilot telemetric data, or to a GPS receiver to display positioning Data. 6 Standard Operations 1. After connecting the power supply, the indicator LED light will be activated. 2. The AP117 will automatically detect the incoming video (accepts both NTSC and PAL). 3. If connected Autopilots FY-21AP, FY-3ZT or FY-GPS Receiver, the LED indicator light will begin to flash. 4. Once the input video is detected even if there is interruption to the video signal, the telemetry data of the AP117 will continue to be transmitted via the video stream. CONNECTION INTERFACE Audio In Video In Audio Out Video Out / PWM / +3.3V / Data TX / Data RX ENG / ENG / CUR AD / +5V CONNECTIONS AND INSTALLATION 1. DANGER: The three ports (positive) for Video In, Video Out and Power In are all inter-connected. Therefore you are allowed to connect ONE input voltage only. DO NOT input more than one power supply or damage to the OSD will occur. 2. It is recommended to power the OSD independently to ensure a clean video display. (Note: Power is supplied from the OSD to the Camera. Do not input any other power supply through this port or damage will occur). Video input (Connect to the camera video signal output). Detailed description of the Video out port Audio OUT Video OUT Connect to video transmitter Audio output (Connect to the audio input of the camera or microphone). Connect to the video transmitter power input. (Note: Power is supplied from the OSD to the video transmitter. Do not input any other power supply through this port or damage will occur). Connect to the video input of the video transmitter. Detailed description of the SW port PWM Connect to the power port of the RC receiver. Connect to the signal port of your RC receiver (you need to designate to a free channel). Detailed description of the Power port Connected to the power that supply to the OSD control board. Connect to the power that supply to the OSD control board(safe input range: DC6V to 16V) Note: this power supply is sent directly to your Video Camera and Video Transmitter. 9 Display Control Via RC Channel The OSD can be controlled to show all or part of its display information via a spare 3 position switch. If the OSD does not detect any incoming PPM signal to the SWITCH Port, by default it will automatically display all the information on the screen. Receiver channel signal input µS µS µS Functional Mode OSD display is OFF (no display) Display GPS data, main battery voltage & power consumed All 19 data parameters will be displayed µs OSD OFF µs display part of the information µs display all the information Altitude Measurement Error Coefficient (AMEC) The AMEC figure is a very useful assessment of the health of the Attitude Flight Stabilization System (AFSS) active on aircraft. This is especially helpful in monitoring the effects of on-board vibration to the AFSS during the flight in real-time. The AMEC data output is currently supported by the FY-21AP and FY-3ZT autopilots: AMEC value Interpretation (range) 0 AFSS in perfect working condition. Good autopilot installation. 100 to 500 AFSS experiencing vibration but still fully functional. 500 to 800 Degradation of the AFSS due to vibration or other factors influencing the 3 axis gyros and tri-axial accelerometer. 800 to 1000 AFSS is severely affected by onboard environment. Autopilot switching OFF and aircraft controls transferred back to you. Flight stabilization degraded or not functional altogether. Check your installation. Solve vibration issues. Check the POWER supply input and ensure connection is correctly done. 2. Check the Video in and Video out connections, as per this manual, as well as the requirements of the video camera and video transmitter hardware. 3. Check that the video input and output devices are working normally. If there is video output but there no telemetry data on the screen, please check the following: 1. Observe the indicator LED flashing. If the LED does not flash, check whether the connection of the Data In is correctly done. 2. Check the switch channel which is used to control the display on the screen is set correctly as per this manual. Note: FeiYu Tech reserve the right to change this manual at any time.
