2 Room Dimensions Chapter 2 Room Recommendations for the Cisco TelePresence System 3010 Table 2-1 HVAC Design Summarization of Room Requirements for the CTS 3010 (continued) Independent Room Control Typical Cooling 9,500 BTU/Hr Aesthetic Continuity highly desirable For best video quality: Avoid high contrast elements such as very dark or bright colors Avoid glossy finishes Avoid clutter Room Dimensions For the CTS 3010, rectangular rooms are preferred although irregular shaped rooms can also be accommodated. The minimum, recommended, and maximum room sizes for a Cisco TelePresence 3010 system are provided in Table 2-2. Table 2-2 CTS 3010 Room Dimensions Width Depth Height Minimum 20 (6.10 m) 15 (4.57 m) 8 (2.44 m) Recommended 22 (6.70 m) 19 (5.80 m) 10 (3.05 m) Maximum 31 (9.45 m) 23 (7.01 m) 10 (3.05 m) Ceilings lower than 7 (2.13 m) will not physically support the height of the CTS endpoint lighting façade. The minimum room dimensions are illustrated in Figure 2-1: 2-2
3 Chapter 2 Room Recommendations for the Cisco TelePresence System 3010 Room Dimensions Figure 2-1 CTS 3010 Minimum Room Dimensions Table 2-3 Callouts for Figure 2-1 Callout Description 1 Minimum room width 20 (6.10 m). Rooms can be wider. 2 Minimum room length is 15 (4.57 m). Rooms can be longer. Wall behind the TelePresence endpoint. The distance from the unit s frameon the floor to wall must be a minimum of 4 (10.16 cm). If the room is longer than the minimum size, proportionally more space 3 can be left behind the unit for easier access. 4 The CTS 3010 is (3.07 m) from the back of the lighting shroud to the table edge. 5 The minimum space between back table and wall is 4.63 (1.41 m). 6 The width of the CTS 3010 is 18 (5.49 m). 7 From the camera to the table edge at the outer chair position is 8.3 (2.53 m). 2-3
4 Lighting Considerations Chapter 2 Room Recommendations for the Cisco TelePresence System 3010 Lighting Considerations The CTS 3010 requires the following lighting levels for optimal quality: Table 2-4 Lighting Measurements Illumination Target Tolerance Overall illumination lux + or 50 lux Measure vertically with the light lux (= lm/m2) Lighting should be evenly dispersed sensor pointed at wall or throughout the room. intended camera location (not pointed at the ceiling). Shoulder light/direct down light. Lighting Dispersion Color Temperature Etc. No more than twice the overall illumination of the room. Generally, shoulder lighting should not be more than 400 lux greater than the overall illumination of the room and never exceed 800 lux. Measure horizontally at table height with the light sensor pointing at ceiling. For all other general Cisco TelePresence room lighting recommendations, refer to the Cisco TelePresence Room Design Guide at the following URL: ns669/networking_solutions_products_genericcontent0900aecd80554cb2.html For Immersive lighting design, refer to the Immersive Cisco TelePresence Room Design Guide. Network Port Requirements The CTS 3010 requires a single Gigabit Ethernet port (RJ-45 UTP) installed on the wall behind the system. This port connects the CTS primary codec, which is the main interface between the CTS endpoint and the network, to the network infrastructure. The CTS primary codec and participant convenience port connectivity options are listed in the table below. Table 2-5 CTS 3010 Network Access Requirements Options # of Ports Connection s CTS Codec (Required) 1 Wired RJ-45 UTP Gigabit Ethernet on wall behind the system. Option 1 for Participant Convenience Ports 1 Wireless Customer provides wireless access. Option 2 for Participant Convenience Ports 1 Wired with switch in room. Option 3 for Participant Convenience Ports 6 Wired directly to wall with switch in wiring closet An additional RJ-45 UTP port should be provided on the wall behind the system for the switch. Six additional RJ-45 UTP ports provided on the wall behind the system. 2-4
5 Chapter 2 Room Recommendations for the Cisco TelePresence System 3010 Power Requirements Please consult with your network administrator on which participant convenience port option is best for your telepresence deployment. Any switches installed in the TelePresence room must meet your company s network policies. They must also meet the sound requirements of TelePresence room remediation. Switches should not generate more than 45dB of sound within the TelePresence room. Power Requirements The Cisco TelePresence System 3010 requires four dedicated 20 amp (US electrical code requires maximum 16 amps on a 20 amp circuit) or four dedicated 10 amp 240V. These circuits must be dedicated to the Cisco TelePresence System. Receptacles should be located on the wall behind the system at standard height. : Peripherals such as document cameras or alternate displays will require additional circuits and receptacles. Placement will depend on the type and location of the peripheral device. 6 HVAC Considerations Chapter 2 Room Recommendations for the Cisco TelePresence System 3010 The TelePresence CTS 3010 uses Power Distribution Units (PDUs) to connect the components to the power circuits. The PDUs are attached to the four circuits previously identified. Each PDU must support 20 and 10 This applies to both the CTS 3010 and CTS Peripherals such as document cameras or alternate displays require additional circuits and receptacles. Placement depends on the type and location of the peripheral. 7 Chapter 2 Room Recommendations for the Cisco TelePresence System 3010 HVAC Considerations Caution HVAC considerations should be given from the initial phase of choosing a room. Installing new cooling (or heating) systems can be time-consuming. The table summarizes the specific BTU output of a CTS 3010 when deployed as recommended and under typical operating conditions. Please provide this information to your building HVAC engineer. The qualifier typicallly assumes: The system is not used constantly 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every week. Deployment follows Cisco recommendations. The room is located within a building interior. The room has proper air circulation. The room s walls are painted with neutral colors. For more information about specific wall colors, refer to the Cisco TelePresence Wall Color Guide at the following URL: networking_solutions_products_genericcontent0900aecd80554cb2.html The target room temperature expected is degrees F. From these guidelines and for typical usage, a diversity factor of 25 percent is assumed which lowers cooling requirements. : Conditions not consistent with the above may require additional cooling. Consult with your HVAC engineer to define building envelope and unique requirements. Additional equipment such as data displays, document cameras, etc., require additional cooling. Table 2-9 CTS BTU Output with 25% diversity CTS 3000 CTS 3010 Typical KW Typical Usage Typical kw Typical Usage BTUs/hr Source BTUs/hr System Power System Lighting Participants (Avg) Laptops (Avg) Ceiling Lights (1.4w/sqft) Total Typical Heat Dissipation 11,200 BTU/Hr Total Typical Heat Dissipation 9,500 BTU/Hr To ensure efficient cooling of the room, the air intake and outflows should be placed as described in Figure
