As for unused frequency( twenty segments), the regulatory framework was completed in December, 2013, and applications from contents providing broadcasters were received fron December 19, 2013 to January 28, Applications were received from 5 companies consisting of 6 programs and 12 segments, and all the applications were approved by the Radio Regulatory Council on April 9, The new services started on April 1, MHz V-High Multimedia roadcast (Japan Mobilecasting, Inc.) 13 Segments Type 13 Segments Type 1 Segment Type 7 大規模枠 222MHz mmbi, Inc. (program name of NOTTV ) was certified on October, 2011 and now under broadcasting. Applications including six programs and twelve segments from five companies shown below were certified. 11 Framework for Prevention and Elimination Measures against Reception Interference of TV roadcasting The following framework was established by 700MHz Frequency Promotion Association to surely execute dissemination and construction works for taking measures against prevention and elimination of reception interference of TV broadcasting. 14 Dissemination Rate of 4K Television (Estimation) and Economic Effects of 4K and 8K Estimation of the dissemination rate of 4K television and economic effects of 4K and 8K as well as embodiment of the roadmap were published in Interim Report from the Follow-up Meeting on 4K and 8K Roadmap (September, 2014).. The number of 4K TV sets is estimated to be about 27 million in 2020 and its domestic dissemination rate to be about 52%. Potential domestic market size of 4K and 8K is estimated to be about 4.4 trillion yen (direct effect around 2020). Effect on the domestic economy is about 9 trillion yen (direct and indirect effects calculated based on the input-output table). 15 New Roadmap for Promotion of 4K and 8K(Published in September, 2014) The roadmap was formulated in the Study Group on Upgrading of the roadcasting Services(June, 2013). Follow-up Meeting on 4K and 8K Roadmap has been held since February 2014, and how to accelerate implementation of the roadmap has been discussed. The interim report was formulated and published in September In order to promote the further spread of 4K and 8K, issues will continue to be investigated in the follow-up meetings Satellite C S S Cable television IPTV etc. 4K test broadcasting (124/128 degree CS) 4K test broadcasting 4K VOD Trial 4K test broadcasting 4K VOD practical service 4K practical broadcasting (124/128 degree CS) 4K practical broadcasting 4K practical broadcasting 4K and 8K test broadcasting (Channel after termination of safety net by satellite) Exploratory initiative for 8K Exploratory initiative for 8K 4K and 8K practical broadcasting (as soon as possible) < Desired future image > Many 4K and 8K programs of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Game are broadcasted. Through public viewings nationwide, the impression for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games is shared nationwide. With the spread of 4K and 8K broadcasting, not a few people enjoy 4K and 8K programs by TV sets at home. 14

20 Application of 4K/8K (1) Clear and natural images/videos realized by 4K/8K technology will widen the horizon of art, education, medical care, and security Art The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and the Agency for Cultural Affairs of Japan collaborated on utilizing 8K technology for exhibiting actual scenery that inspired art works at the Philadelphia Museum of Art s exhibition Ink and Gold: Art of the Kano. Period: February 12 - March 15, 2015 Place: Philadelphia Museum of Art, USA For demonstrating the possibilities of 8K for art, scenery of Mt. Fuji which is closely related to numerous art works on view in Ink and Gold: Art of the Kano was shown. (In cooperation with NHK, Sharp Corporation, and ASTRODESIGN, Inc.) 19
