2 ENGISH Before use QT7997 Caution for AC Mains ead (For United Kingdom) ( EB area code model only) For your safety, please read the following text carefully. This appliance is is supplied with a moulded three pin mains plug for your safety and convenience. A 5-ampere fuse is is fitted in in this plug. Should the fuse need to be replaced please ensure that the replacement fuse has a rating of of 5-ampere and that it it is is approved by ASTA or BSI to to BS16. Check for the ASTA mark or or the BSI mark on the body of of the fuse. If If the plug contains a removable fuse cover you must ensure that it it is is refitted when the fuse is is replaced. If If you lose the fuse cover the plug must not be used until a replacement cover is is obtained. A replacement fuse cover can be purchased from your local dealer. CAUTION! IF THE FITTED MOUDED PUG IS UNSUITABE FO THE SOCKET ET YOU HOME THEN THE FUSE SHOUD BE EMOVED AND THE PUG CUT OFF AND DISPOSED OF SAFEY. How to replace the fuse The location of of the fuse differ according to to the type of of AC mains plug (figures A and B). Confirm the AC mains plug fitted and follow the instructions below. These conditions can damage the cabinet and other components, thereby shortening the unit s service life. Do not place heavy items on the unit. Voltage Do not use high voltage power sources. This can overload the unit and cause a fire. Do not use a DC power source. Check the source carefully when setting the unit up on a ship or other place where DC is used. AC mains lead protection Ensure the AC mains lead is connected correctly and not damaged. Poor connection and lead damage can cause fire or electric shock. Do not pull, bend, or place heavy items on the lead. Grasp the plug firmly when unplugging the lead. Pulling the AC mains lead can cause electric shock. Do not handle the plug with wet hands. This can cause electric shock. Foreign matter Do not let metal objects fall inside the unit. This can cause electric shock or malfunction. Do not let liquids get into the unit. This can cause electric shock or malfunction. If this occurs, immediately disconnect the unit from the power supply and contact your dealer. Do not spray insecticides onto or into the unit. They contain flammable gases which can ignite if sprayed into the unit. Service Do not attempt to repair this unit by yourself. If sound is interrupted, indicators fail to light, smoke appears, or any other problem that is not covered in these operating instructions occurs, disconnect the AC mains lead and contact your dealer or an authorized service center. Electric shock or damage to the unit can occur if the unit is repaired, disassembled or reconstructed by unqualified persons. Extend operating life by disconnecting the unit from the power source if it is not to be used for a long time. CAUTION! Do not place anything on top of this unit or block the heat radiation vents in any way. High picture quality connection Use this connection instead of the / connections on page. A COMPONENT connection provides a purer picture than a S- connection. Speakers QT7997 ENGISH Connections Front speakers (: left/: right) Place on the left and right of the TV at seated ear height so that there is good coherency between the picture and sound. Center speaker Place underneath or above the center of the TV. Aim the speaker at the seating area. Surround speakers (S: left/s: right) Place on the side of or slightly behind the seating area, about one meter higher than ear level. ( ) Surround back speakers (SB: left/sb: right) Place behind the seating area, about one meter higher than ear level. SB/SB: Two surround back speakers. SB: One surround back speaker. Subwoofer The subwoofer can be placed in any position as long as it is at a reasonable distance from the TV. The front, center, surround and surround back speakers should be placed at approximately the same distance from the seating position. The angles in the diagram are approximate. Set the distance of the speakers from the seating position if you cannot place them at the same distances. (ápage 1) Speaker settings and placement should suit the number of speakers. Bi-wiring connection You can enjoy high quality sound by connecting to speakers designed for bi-wiring. BI-WIE compatible speakers have separate terminals for the high frequency and low frequency signals. When using a bi-wiring connection, select BI-WIE for Bi-wiring settings. There is however no problem using the unit. Connect this cord after all other cables and cords are connected. Note The included AC mains lead is for use with this unit only. Do not use it with other equipment. Do not use AC mains lead from any other type of equipment with this unit. To connect a 00 Ω feeder wire oosen the screws, connect the wires, and tighten the screws to secure the connection. Do not use rechargeable type batteries. Transmission window Keep the transmission window and the unit s sensor free from dust. 12 ENGISH Settings eceiver settings - Basic Change the settings to tailor your equipment to the environment in which you are using it. Before making any changes, read the following descriptions of the settings and refer to the instructions for the speakers and equipment. Basic operations with the MUTI CONTO PUT SEECTO MUTI CONTO CANCE Turn to change. n To return to the previous setting/to cancel Press. Turn on. ENTE Press to enter. Use the MUTI CONTO menus to change the settings. (áleft Basic operations with the MUTI CONTO ) MUTI 1 Enter the MUTI CONTO. CONTO Select SETUP 1 ( BASIC SETUP scrolls once) and press [ENTE]. Select the settings to change. (ábelow, page 1) Speakers combination settings Set the speaker combination connected to this unit. The speaker combination has to be set in order for the sound to be output properly. CANCE PUT SEECTO Select SPK SET (SPEAKE SET) and press [ENTE]. Select if you have connected a subwoofer or not and press [ENTE]. SUBW NO: You have not connected one. SUBW YES: You have connected one. SETUP 1 Select the speaker combination connected to this unit and press [ENTE].
