4 SAT FIBRE OPTICS Optical tranmission technology - the SAT-TV coverage of tomorrow FIBRE INTEGRATED RECEPTION SYSTEM Fully weatherproof, the ODU32 is designed for mounting at the antenna location. It accepts and combines signals from the Wholeband LNB and digital terrestrial antennae (DTT/DAB/FM) which then modulates a laser inside the ODU32. Two optical outputs (FC/PC) are provided for distribution through a Passive Optical Network (PON) of FibreIRS Optical Splitters. Each output of the ODU32 can feed a PON of 32 points or with reduced splits support a reach of 10km. 5 FIBRE MDU Optical Output LNB The GI FibreMDU Optical Output LNB radically changes how satellite IF signals are dealt with compared with conventional Universal LNBs. This innovative new design uses patented technology to frequency stack both horizontal and vertical polarities, creating a single IF frequency range of 950MHz GHz. The newly created single band is then frequency modulated optically and output using a 1310nm laser internal to the Optical Output LNB. Powered separately the Optical LNB takes the required <450mA from a standard 12v supply utilising a standard female F type connector. F O-LNB Fibre connection is made via a standard FC/PC connector feeding the passive distribution network on single mode fibre optic cable. With an optical output of +/- 6.5 dbm the GI FibreMDU Optical Output LNB is easily capable of driving up to 32 GI FibreMDU converters (see GI FibreMDU specification sheet) located within a 10km radius. 10 ACTIVE SPLITTER For optimal system performance EQUALLY SPLITS WHOLEBAND INPUT TO 4 OUTPUTS Fully weatherproof, the FibreIRS 4 way active splitter is designed to increase the capacity of new or existing FibreIRS ODU32 systems. With 4 x ODU32 connected a total of 256 dwellings can be fed from a single headend. The splitter is powered by one of the ODU32 units connected on any of it s outputs. 12 QUAD GTU MKIII Optical to RF Convertor A WIDE DYNAMIC RANGE OF OPTICAL POWERS The FibreIRS GTU converts optical power to RF power (4 satellite bands and FM,DAB,DTT ). All units have built in AGC which allows a wide dynamic range of optical powers without affecting output power and quality. Two LED indicators allow the user to monitor the status of the unit.
