Most physicians desire bright, intense light emitted in a shadow-free spot to aid them in rendering an accurate differentiation of anatomical features for proper diagnosis of medical conditions. Welch Allyn utilizes footcandles (fc) for intensity and correlated color temperature (CCT) in degrees Kelvin ( K) for color. For reference, the CCT of daylight on a sunny day at noon is about 600 K, whereas a room with no windows being lit by incandescent bulbs will have a CCT of about 000 K.
