3 Dresden a leading Organic Electronics Center Over the last few years the region of Dresden developed to become Europe s largest cluster for organic semiconductor R&D and manufacturing. Some 15 companies with more than 1000 employees cover the whole value chain from material development to application manufacturing and testing. 6 Novaled PIN OLED Technology By applying Novaled s doping technologies OLEDs achieve a unique combination of highest power efficiencies and longest lifetimes. The principle architecture of a bottom emission OLED incorporating the intrinsic emission layers into the Novaled PIN OLED technology by using doped transport layers: Light emission Transport layer Emitting layer Transport layer P-doped transport layer Intrinsic emitting layer N-doped transport layer NOVALED innovative technology: Doped OLED structures with proprietary developed materials transparent conductor (ITO) hole transport layer emitting layer electron transport layer metal cathode glass substrate Working Principle Holes are injected from the anode and transported by p-hole transport layer (p-htl) to the emitting layer (EML). Electrons are injected from the cathode and transported by the n-electron transport layer (n-etl). Recombination of the charge carriers takes place in the EML and light is emitted.
