4 4K e-shift4 (DLA-X570/770/970) Native 4K sources provide a significant boost in picture quality. From the original 4K data JVC creates an A frame and a B frame. There is no interpolation. Through a proprietary process, the correct pixels are selected for each frame. The projector works at double the conventional speed. Then, using 4K e-shift4 each B frame is shifted down and over ½ a pixel. This creates four 4K sub-pixels in the space of one conventional HD pixel. The viewers eyes and brain combine the A frame and B frame to create the projected 4K e-shift4 image which is seen on the screen. MPC Optimizes 4K & HD content A new algorithm resolves significantly more detail and is optimized for content up to 4K/60P with 4:4:4 color. The projector detects the original resolution, then analyzes the data frame by frame & pixel by pixel. Detail enhancement, smoothing and noise reduction are applied as needed. An updated light engine design and the new 265 watt lamp deliver: DLA-X570R: 1800 Lumens DLA-X770R: 1900 Lumens DLA-X970R: 2000 Lumens Auto HDR Picture When playing a 4K/UHD program, the HDR preset is automatically selected, including proper settings for the lamp, ST2084 gamma and correct color gamut. 7 The Best Projector, The Best Demonstration The Room High native contrast and exceptional black level are best experienced in a completely dark theater Eliminating ambient light increases contrast and improves black level Turn off any light sources in the room before starting your demo, including other projectors or flat panel TV s Projector Installation Throw Range: 1.4:1 to 2.8:1 Short Throw: A closer distance to the screen increases brightness. Long Throw: A longer distance to the screen increases contrast. Lens Shift/Zoom/Focus: The projector should be mounted level and square to the screen, not tilted or skewed in any direction Lens shift and zoom are used to align the projected image with the screen To adjust focus, stand close to the screen, use the remote and adjust until you can see each individual pixel Tip: For easiest focusing, turn 4K e-shift off by going to Menu>Picture Adjust>MPC Level>4K e-shift>off. Tip: Always turn off the JVC projector using the power button to allow for proper cool down. Never power down the projector from a breaker panel, or a wall switch. This is very important for optimal lamp life. The Screen For optimum results with a 4K source, a lower gain matte surface screen is recommended When it is not possible (or desirable) to have complete light control in the theater, choose a screen type with higher ambient light rejection characteristics For optimum 3D playback a higher gain screen will add perceived brightness. An ultra-wide screen makes it possible to demo lens memory. 8 Taking it Further Utilizing Calibration Discs A calibration disc provides image test patterns to properly adjust important picture parameters. An excellent example is the AVS HD709 Calibration Disc. A downloadable file available at no cost is burned to DVD-R, creating an AVCHD disc. See download information below. A blue filter is necessary for proper color and tint adjustment (when not using test instruments). Blue filter glasses are available at Check the Connection Before adjusting black level or white level, it is important to make sure each HDMI input matches the source HDMI output. HDMI levels range from 0 (Blackest Black) to 255 (Peak White). HDMI Standard sets blackest black at 16 and peak white at 235 best for most AV sources. HDMI Super White sets blackest black at 16 and peak white at 255. This may be the best choice for certain BD players & game consoles. HDMI Enhanced sets blackest black at 0 and peak white at 255. This is the correct setting for many computer video cards. Turn off any scaling or video processing in any other connected component (AVR or Blu-ray). Set the Black Level or White Level Black level is set using the brightness control while viewing the black ramp pattern. With Standard HDMI levels, adjust brightness so the 17 bar is just discernible from the 16 bar. White level is set using the contrast control while viewing the white ramp pattern. With Standard HDMI levels, adjust contrast so that the 234 bar is just discernible from the 235 bar. Adjust Color & Tint While viewing through a blue filter, adjust the color control until flashing is minimized in the boxes on the far left and far right. With the same blue filter, adjust the tint control until flashing is minimized in the two sets of boxes closest to the center of the picture. Additional Picture Settings that represent good starting points for most demonstrations: Picture Presets: For the DLA-RS620 & RS520 THX is recommended for 1080P 2D & 3D. For the DLA-RS420, Natural is recommended for 1080P. 4K UHD Content: Please use the HDR preset Color Profile: Standard, Color Temp: 6500K Gamma: Normal Clear Motion Drive: Off Screen Preset: Select to match the screen 4K e-shift: On Firmware Updates Firmware is updated via RS232. 10 What the Experts Say The DLA-RS4500 is by far the sharpest projector I ve had the pleasure of reviewing. The new lens, coupled with native 4K imaging chips, made a more profound difference than what I was expecting compared with my reference DLA-X750R. And although I ve seen quite a few projectors in this segment of the market, I haven t seen any that can match the performance of the DLA-RS4500. this model s refinements in setup, fine detail, and HDR, as well as the simple wonder of the final picture on the screen, are something to behold. If you re out to get the best-looking 4K and HDR from a projector, I can t see much in the way of competition at or near this price point.
