18 PROGRAMMING MODES The IS6520/MS6520 Cubit hs 3 modes of progrmming. Br Codes: Cubit cn be configured by scnning the br codes locted in the MetroSelect Configurtion Guide (MLPN 2407). Plese refer to this guide for instructions. This mnul cn be downloded for FREE from Metrologic s website ( MetroSet : This user-friendly Windows-bsed configurtion progrm llows you to simply point-nd-click t the desired scnner options. This progrm cn be downloded for FREE from Metrologic website ( or set-up disks cn be ordered by clling ID-METRO. Seril Progrmming: This mode of progrmming is idel for OEM pplictions. This mode gives the end-user the bility to send series of commnds using the seril port of the host system. The commnds re equivlent to the numericl vlues of the br codes locted in the MetroSelect Configurtion Guide (MLPN 2407). How does Seril Progrmming work? 1. Ech commnd sent to the scnner is the ASCII representtion of ech numerl in the configurtion br code. The entire numeric string is frmed with n ASCII [stx] nd n ASCII [etx]. EXAMPLE #1: Commnd for Disbling Codbr Commnd = [stx]100104[etx] String Sent to Scnner = 02h 31h 30h 30h 31h 30h 34h 03h (All vlues re hexdeciml). 2. If the commnd sent to the scnner is vlid, the scnner will respond with n [ck]. 3. If the commnd sent to the scnner in invlid, the scnner will respond with [nk]. NOTE: If this occurs, the end-user must strt over t the very beginning of the configurtion sequence. Simply re-trnmsitting the invlid commnd will not work, you must strt over. 4. During progrmming, the motor nd lser remin ctive. YOU CANNOT SCAN ANY BAR CODES WHILE IN PROGRAM MODE. 5. There is 20 second window between commnds. If 20 second timeout occurs, the scnner will send [nk] nd you must strt over. 12

19 PROGRAMMING MODES (CONTINUED) 6. To enter seril progrm mode, send the following commnd [stx]999999[etx]. 7. To exit seril progrm mode, send the following commnd [stx]999999[etx], the scnner will respond with n [ck] nd long beep. 8. This mode uses the current Bud Rte, Prity, Stop Bits nd Dt Bits settings tht re configured in the scnner. The defult settings of the scnner re 9600, Spce, 2, 7 respectively. If commnd is sent to the scnner to chnge ny of these settings, the chnge will NOT tke effect until fter seril progrm mode is exited. EXAMPLE #2: The following exmple will set the scnner to the fctory defult settings, Disble Scnning of Code 128 br codes, chnge the beeper tone, nd dd G s progrmmble prefix.
