Supports all analog HD and SD video formats, including 1080p, NTSC, and PAL.

Please be sure to follow these instructns for safe operatn of your unit Iroductn Key Digital FlashMax Series KD-CSW4x1 is a versatile multi-input aud/video switcher for connecting video and aud sources to a TV video display or monitor. It is the ideal solutn when your TV, monitor, or receiver does not have enough video and aud inputs. It features 4 independe co video/aud inputs with co video/aud output. Digital aud (PCM)or analog aud (L & R) can also be switched through the KD-CSW4x1. All input selectns are clearly displayed on the fro panel with blue LED indicators. 1. Read these instructns. 2. Keep these instructns. 3. Heed all warnings. 4. Follow all instructns. 5. Do not use this apparatus near water. Home Theater Applicatn 6. Clean only with dry cloth. Model: KD-CSW4x1 7. Do not block any veilatn openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer s instructns. 8. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including alifiers) that produce heat. 9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades with wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong are provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit io your outlet, consult an electrician for replaceme of the obsolete outlet. Projector 10. Switching can be d in any of three ways: Manually, using the fro panel button. ly, using the supplied infrared remote corol ly, using a touch panel and RS-232 commands nnecting a digital TV set-top receiver with coyprpb (three-wire) video outputs to the KD-CSW4x1 nnect the three-wire green, red and blue (YPrPb) jacks on your set-top receiver to the green, red, and blue (YPrPb) jacks on the KD-CSW4x1. nnect the white and red analog stereo aud output jacks on your set-top receiver to the white (L/H) and red (R/V) input jacks on the KDCSW4x1. If you have a digital aud output jack on your receiver, you can connect it to the black (PCM)HD input jack on the KD-CSW4x1. nnect the green, red, and blue (YPrPb) jacks from Output on the KD-CSW4x1 to the corresponding co video jacks on your TV or monitor. nnect the white (L/H) and red (R/V) analog aud jacks to the corresponding aud jacks on your TV or monitor. HD TV Set Top Box If you wish to listen to digital aud from your set-top receiver,and you have connected the digital ouput of your set-top receiver to the PCM input of the KD-CSW4x1, connect a cable from the black digital aud (PCM) output A/V receiver s input. jack to your WARNING Do not connect this output to analog aud inputs on your TV or monitor! HD nnecting Your A/V Equipme nnecting your A/V equipme to the KD-CSW4x1 is a sile process. Start with Input #1 and proceed to the next higher input each time you add an A/V device. First, determine the video signal format you wa to connect. If an A/V device has co YPrPb (three-wire) video outputs, use them for best video quality. If co video outputs are not available, use the S- output instead. video signals can also be switched through the KD-CSW4x1, but these signals will have the lowest overall video quality. This is coarative stateme for, S- or formats. The KD-CSW4x1 does not degrade any HDTV or SDTV video signal. Next, determine whether you wa to use the device s analog aud outputs or the digital aud output. Use analog outputs if you are switching aud to the analog inputs of a TV or monitor. Use the digital output if you are switching aud to an A/V receiver with a digital aud input. WARNING do not connect a digital aud output signal to analog inputs on your TV or monitor! It may damage your speakers! HD TV Set Top Box RS-232 rol RS-232 rol The KD-CSW4x1 is wired with RCA female connectors. 4 Page 4 Page PCM A nnecting a player or game console with co YPrPb (three-wire) video outputs to the KD-CSW4x1 nnect the three-wire green, red, and blue (YPrPb) jacks on your player or other A/V co to the green, red, and blue (YPrPb) jacks on the KD-CSW4x1. nnect the white and red analog stereo aud jacks on your co to the white (L/H) and red (R/V) input jacks on the KD-CSW4x1. If you have a digital aud output jack on your device, you can connect it to the black (PCM) jack on the KD-CSW4x1. nnect the green, red, and blue output (YPrPb) jacks on the KD-CSW4x1 to the corresponding co video jacks on your TV or monitor. nnect to white (L/H) and red (R/V) analog aud jacks from the same output to the corresponding aud jacks on your TV or monitor. If you wish to listen to digital aud from your player or game console and you have connected the digital ouput of your player or game console to the PCM input of the KD-CSW4x1, connect a cable from the black (PCM) output jack to your A/V receiver s digital aud input. WARNING Do not connect this output to analog aud inputs on your TV or monitor! nnecting devices with S- or coosite video outputs to the KD-CSW4x1 S- connectn: You will Changer need an S- to RCA breakout cable to connect your satellite receiver, DVR, or S-VHS VCR to the KD-CSW4x1 (A S- to coosite video adapter is also Surround Soun available with a single output connectn. If using this adapter, follow the instructns for connecting coosite video signals.). The following directns only apply when using a two wire RCA break out cable adapter. nnect the white (Y) wire to the green (Y/G) jack on the desired input jack field, and connect the black (C) wire to either the blue (Pb/B) or red (Pr/R) jack. nnect the white and red analog stereo aud jacks on your device to the white (L/H) and red (R/V) jacks on the KD-CSW4x1. Plug the white (Y) wire of a second S- RCA adapter cable io the green (Y/G) output jack of the KD-CSW4x1. nnect the black (C) wire of the adapter cable to the blue (Pb/B) or red (Pr/R) jack on the KD-CSW4x1. Plug the other end io your TV or monitor s S- input. nnect the white and red analog stereo aud jacks to your TV or monitor. nnect the coosite video jack (typically black or yellow)) from your VCR or DVR to the green (Y/G) input jack in the desired jack field. nnect another coosite video cable from the green (Y/G) output jack to your TV or video monitor. 5 Page Page Selecting video/aud inputs using with the KD-CSW4x1 On the fro of the KD-CSW4x1 there is a pushbutton with a row of blue LED indicators. Each LED corresponds to a separate video/aud input. To select a specific A/V device (input),sily push the button repeatedly uil the LED indicator for the desired input is lit. All video and aud signals connected to that input are automatically se to the output. selectn and switching of A/V inputs and outputs with the KD-CSW4x1 () rol. You can operate the KD-CSW4x1 using the supplied infrared () remote corol. By pressing R1 and then digit on the remote corol, you go to the desired input. The digit you eer corresponds to the desired video/aud input (1-4). For exale, if you wished to connect a player on input 4, you would depress the key 4. When the R1 key is pressed, the blue input LED indicators on the fro panel will blink uil a desired input number is selected. If you prefer, you can press R1 and also use the CH+ and CH- keys on the remote corol to step through and select an input. RS232 mmands Switching mmand CCx (x=video/aud input [1..4]) Status mmand CCw Since both commands are of a defined length, no terminator is required. Both commands give the following respose. Uuyn y currely selected video/aud input [1..4] n firmware versn number (the two digits which may be required by the factory for troubleshooting) A response will be returned for all switching eves, whether from the fro panel, or RS232 port so that the coroller is always aware of the curre status of the KD-CSW4x1. R3 Optnal Mode of Operatn. The KD-CSW4x1 may be located where other Key Digital products are being used. Since the KD-CSW4x1 shares some remote commands with other Key Digital products, it is necessary to press the R1 button before eering a remote command. If you do not have any other Key Digital equipme nearby, you can set up the KD-CSW4x1 to not require the use of the R1 button before you select an input. You do this by pressing R3 for 5 seconds. When you press R3, the blue LED input indicator on the KD-CSW4x1 will blink. Keep pressing the R3 button uil it stops blinking. You can now corol the KD-CSW4x1 input selector without pressing R1 first. If you wa to go back to the mode where you press R1 first, press R3 again for 5 seconds. Even if you are in the R3 optnal mode, you can still press R1 first if you wish. RS-232 rol and Multiple Unit Operatn The KD-CSW4x1 can be corolled remotely through its RS-232 and ports from AMX, rol 4, Crestron, and Xaeh using the protocol and commands below.
