Design, planning, analysis and control in CIM systems will be discussed. Laboratories include CAD/CAM software and hardware applications such as CAD modeling, NC programming, CNC machining, rapid prototyping, and industrial robots programming. Texts: Automation, Production Systems and Computer-Integrated Manufacturing Mikeall, P. Groover, 3 rd addition (recommended).

2 Mill Tutorial X2 and Solids Tutorial X2 (required). References: Grading: Manuals, Tutorials, User Guides and Workbooks will be available for you to use in CIM lab including: MasterCam Users Guide and Tutorials, Dyna CNC Milling Machine Manual, Haas Machining Center Manual, Stratasys FDM 1650 and QuickSlice Rapid Prototyping Tutorials, and Eshed Robot Programming Manual. 10% Midterm Exam: 50pts 10% Homework: 50pts (4 HWs each = 12.5pts each) 20% Final Exam (comprehensive): 100pts 20% Laboratory Journals: 100pts (4 journals each = 25pts) 20% Laboratory Completion: 100pts (labs 1 6 each = 15pts; lab 7 = 10pts) 20% Lab Reports: 100pts (each report = 25pts) Each student will receive a letter grade based on his/her cumulative percentage score according to the scale below. GRADE QUALITY POINTS A s Excellent A: A-: B s Good B+: B: B-: C s Average C+: C: C-: D s & F s Below Expectations D+: D: F: 59-0 Important Information & Policies: The laboratory is a critical component to this course. It is intended to reinforce the understanding gained in lecture. Class and Laboratory attendance is required to receive credit. Exceptions may be granted for extenuating circumstances at my discretion. Be honest Do not copy other people s work. Complete your lab journals, lab assignments, lab reports on time I do not accept late work. Exceptions may be granted for extenuating circumstances at my discretion. Lab journals and reports will be graded on professionalism, organization, and clarity in addition to content. There will be no make-up exams unless you notify me before exam day. Exceptions may be granted for extenuating circumstances. The final exam time is set by the registrar s office. Lying, cheating, plagiarism, or any other form of dishonesty will not be tolerated. Students who engage in such behavior will be subject to the severest sanction allowed under University policy, even for a first offense. Students should familiarize themselves with MSU Student Conduct Guidelines, particularly sections 300, 400, and 600.
