Introduction Congratulations on your purchase of the MLB700 Broadcast Datalink Receiver with optional RC70 Wireless Remote Control. The MLB700 Broadcast Datalink Receiver is an aircraft Flight Information Service -- Broadcast (FIS-B) receiver that meets the requirements of TSO-C157. The MLB700 is designed to provide reception of weather, and other data products, that will assist flight crews in assessing whether current weather conditions are suitable to the flight characteristics of their aircraft. With a valid subscription through MyAvidyne.com, the MLB700 receives WSI s award-winning InFlight datalink graphical and textual weather for display on the EX500 and EX5000 Multi-Function Display (MFD) systems. In addition, the MLB700 has the ability to receive audio entertainment, with a valid SIRIUS Satellite Radio subscription, that plays through your aircraft s audio system and is controlled from anywhere in the aircraft by the RC70 Wireless Remote Control provided with entertainment enabled systems. 7 About the SIRIUS Satellite Network The SIRIUS Satellite Network is comprised of three satellites; Radiosat 1, Radiosat 2, and Radiosat 3, which are in a geo-synchronous, highly elliptical orbit. These satellites have a 24-hour orbital period and the elliptical path of the constellation ensures that each satellite spends about 16 hours a day over the continental United States. The primary uplink facility for SIRIUS is located in Vernon, New Jersey. Google Figure 2. SIRIUS three satellites in a 24-hour geo-synchronous orbit. SIRIUS broadcasts using 12.5 MHz of the S band between and MHz. All three satellites can broadcast directly to the MLB700 receiver, and because of their highly elliptical orbit, there will always be two in view at any given time period Rev MLB700 Broadcast Datalink Receiver

WSI InFlight Weather: The Weather You Need...From the Source You Can Trust With the MLB700, you will receive WSI s continuous stream of aviation weather information with complete coverage and content for the Continental United States, displayed on an EX500 or EX5000 multi-function display. Among the featured weather products you will receive via the MLB700, is the award winning WSI NOWrad radar mosaic. WSI NOWrad is the only mosaic of the U.S. Doppler Weather Radar network that includes continuous quality control by degreed meteorologists. Additionally, WSI employs a combination of advanced algorithms and up-to-the-minute surface observations to determine the type of precipitation; rain, mixed, or solid. The result is the most accurate depiction of precipitation over the United States available anywhere. SIRIUS Satellite Radio: The Best Radio On Radio From commercial-free music to in-depth sports coverage, news, talk and the hottest entertainment, you can always hear exactly what you want on SIRIUS Satellite Radio. Operation Registering Your MLB700 on MyAvidyne.com Prior to proceeding with your MLB700 registration you must have an account on MyAvidyne.com. To create an account you will need a valid account, your aircraft make, model, tail number, and the serial numbers of the Avidyne equipment installed in your aircraft. To subscribe to WSI InFlight Weather and SIRIUS Satellite Radio, you will additionally need a valid Visa/Mastercard/Discover credit card and must be prepared to move your aircraft outdoors to a location with an unobstructed view of the sky, and power up your avionics Rev MLB700 Broadcast Datalink Receiver

Subscribing to WSI InFlight Weather Once your MLB700 has been registered, continue with MyAvidyne.com, and select a WSI InFlight Weather subscription plan, provide your credit card number, and finalize your subscription. YOU HAVE 4 HOURS TO MOVE YOUR PLANE OUTDOORS TO A LOCATION WITH AN UNOBSTRUCTED VIEW OF THE SKY, AND POWER UP THE AVIONICS. Avidyne will be transmitting an activation signal over the SIRIUS satellite network to your MLB700, and your WSI InFlight Weather should begin to display on the MAP, TRIP and NRST pages within minutes. Note: Once the avionics master has been switched on, the MLB700 will begin a 3 minute 15 second initialization and self test, Using the RC70 to control the MLB700 requires that the initialization and self test be completed, except during the pairing procedure described below, and it requires that the aircraft is positioned with a clear view of the sky. Power and Start-Up Once power is applied to the MLB700 it begins to initialize and self test, which will take 3 minutes and 15 seconds to complete. When the sequence is complete, providing there is a clear view of the open sky, the MLB700 will begin to gather weather information for display on the EX500 or EX5000 Multi-Function Display, and it will begin to provide audio from SIRIUS Satellite Radio to the audio panel. The first time the device is powered, the SIRIUS Satellite Receiver will be tuned to channel 184. Each time the device is powered after that, it will return to the last station it was set to, at half volume Rev MLB700 Broadcast Datalink Receiver

Pairing Your Remote with the MLB700 (For audio enabled units only.) Note: Registering the MLB700 on MyAvidyne.com and subscribing to a weather information service, as per the previous sections, is a prerequisite to pairing the RC70 and MLB700. Prior to subscribing to SIRIUS Satellite Radio pairing the RC70 Remote Control with the MLB700 is required. To pair the devices make sure the aircraft has a clear view of the sky, apply power to the avionics and note the exact time. The MLB700 will begin its initialization and self test, and at the 2 minute and 30 second mark it will begin the transmission of a 30 second signal to the RC70 Remote control. To pair the devices press the SIRIUS button and then press the OK button at the 2 minute and 30 second mark, and the RC70 should briefly display PRESS THE BUTTON ON YOUR SIRIUS RA- DIO, followed by the SUCCESS message. In the event that the SUCCESS message is not observed before the RC70 times out after 30 seconds, powerdown the avionics, wait 5 seconds, and repeat this procedure. Replacing the Batteries in the RC70 To change the batteries in the RC70 Remote Control, slide the battery cover off the back of the remote, replace the 4 AAA batteries, and replace the back cover. Removing batteries briefly and replacing them promptly will not typically result in a need to re-pair the RC70 with the MLB700, however it is possible for the devices to become unpaired. In the event that pairing is lost, repeat the pairing procedure described in the previous section Rev MLB700 Broadcast Datalink Receiver

Activation of Your MLB700 Audio Subscription To activate SIRIUS Satellite Radio, an option available with entertainment enabled MLB700s, subscribe online at or call SIRIUS at SIRIUS ( ). Note: THE AIRCRAFT MUST BE OUTDOORS IN A LOCATION WITH AN UNOB- STRUCTED VIEW OF THE SKY, THE AVIONICS MUST BE POWERED-UP, AND THE 3 MINUTE AND 15 SECOND INITIALIZATION AND SELF TEST MUST BE COM- PETE AT THE TIME THE SUBSCRIPTION IS REQUESTED. In order to subscribe to SIRIUS Satellite Radio, know which plans are available, have a credit card ready and use the RC70 Remote Control to tune the MLB700 SIRIUS Satellite Radio to channel 184 prior to contacting SIRIUS. Once the subscription has been completed and the MLB700 has received the activation signal over the SIRIUS Satellite network, SIRIUS Satellite Radio will be available via the aircraft s audio panel Rev MLB700 Broadcast Datalink Receiver
