NETBELL SETTING INSTRUCTION BELL WIRING For Netbell 8 There are 8 relay outputs for the Netbell 8 to control up to 8 bells (12V/24V 5A) directly. 1. Select a suitable power source that meets the requirements of the BELL. 2. There are 3 terminals for each relay, labelled NO, C and NC which stand for Normally Open, Common and Normally Closed. 3. Wire one side of the power source to one side of the bell. The other power wire is connected to the Netbell 8 relay terminal C, final connect the other side of the bell wire to relay terminal NC. 4. Connect the provided power supply and Rj45 cable to the Netbell 8. For Netbell 4 The output drivers on the Netbell 4 are designed to drive "signals" and not "loads". In some cases, "inductive loads" can cause an interruption in operation requiring a power reset. So when you connect a bell to the Netbell 4, you need to have an external relay to drive the bell, please follow the Wiring a Line Voltage Relay diagram below for instructions on how to wire your bells to the Netbell 4 controller. 1. Select a suitable external relay that meets the requirements of the BELL. 2. The Netbell 4 has 1 removeable 8 position connector for its 4 relay outputs. Each relay has a "+" connection and a numbered connection. 3. Wire one side of the external relay power source to the Netbell 4 relay + terminall. The other external relay power wire is connected to the Netbell 4 relay number terminal, final connect bell wire to the external relay. 4. Connect the provided power supply and Rj45 cable to the Netbell 4, or use POE as the alternative power source if you prefer. For Netbell 2 and Netbell 2 Kits (Netbell 2 1BEL, Netbell 2 1BUZ, Netbell 2 2BEL and Netbell 2 2BUZ) There are 2 line voltage relay outputs for the Netbell 2 to control up to 2 line voltage bells directly. 1. Select a suitable power source that meets the requirements of the BELL. 2. The Netbell 2 has 2 removeable 2 posintion connectors (1 for each relay) and are simply numbered "1" and "2". These relays are normally open. 3. Wire one side of the power source to one side of the bell. The other power wire is connected to the Netbell 2 relay terminal, final connect the other side of the bell wire to relay terminal. 4. Connect the provided power supply and Rj45 cable to the Netbell 2, or use POE as the alternative power source if you prefer. The NETBELL can now control the BELL by turning the power to the BELL on and off. Be sure to select the NETBELL with RELAYS suitable for the BELLs power requirement. For more information on how to wire your bell with the Netbell Controller, please refer to the Manual. Netbell K(B) is a complete bell kit, no bell wiring required. Connect it to the power and network with provided cables and it's ready to go. Video Tutorials for installation and schedule settings are available on our website Download page: Netbell 8 and Netbell 2 wiring diagram Netbell 4 wiring diagram 1
Netbell K and Netbell KB wiring SUPPORTING PROGRAMMING DISCOVERER Discover.jar Discover.jar is a program that will automatically locate your Netbell SERVER. When a Netbell SERVER unit is first installed on your network, it automatically obtains a web address from your router via DHCP if your router is set up to assign one. If your router is not set this way, it is suggested that you turn that feature on so you can operate the Netbell SERVER and assign it the IP address of your choosing. (Java runtime needs to be loaded to use this feature. When downloading, be sure to read the screens and do not download the optional programs that you you do not desire. Java can be found here: To download the Discover program, please go to: programming/ Use of Chrome & Firefox browsers is recommended. If you prefer to use Internet Explore browser, please note that when you download the Discover program, Internet Explore saves this program_as a Zip file by default. In order to use the Discoverer, you need to select Save as and rename the file as Linortek Discoverer.jar when you download with Internet Explore browser. Once Discoverer locates your device, it will display: 1.IP Address 2.Host Name 3.MAC Address 4.Other Info: a).blue LED (if on) b).product Name c).server Software Revision Click the line with the Netbell SERVER you want to control and the Discoverer will automatically open your browser to this device.
RELAY CONTROL BELLS Netbell uses relay outputs to control the bells. It is here you can turn the bells on and off or set your bells duration by setting the relays as well as their labels and status.to set your relay properties, go to Service In/Out page. The Relay that you are editing is identified by the line on which you clicked the Edit icon on the RELAY page. You can give a name for the relay (bell) on the Set Replay page after clicking the Edit icon. Enter a 15 character Relay Name. The Netbell deault pulse width is 1 minute (which means the bell will ring 1 minute for each schedule), you can change this number by entering your desired Pulse Width and Pulse Width Multiplier on Set Relay page here, you can also set different bell ringing duration for each schedule on Bells scheduling page below. For more information on how to Set Relay and Inputs, please refer to the manual. After you connect your bell to one of the Relay Outputs, you can login to your Netbell webpage to add bell schedules to ring your bells. ADD BELL SCHEDULES Before starting scheduling your bells, please make sure to set your Time/Date first. CAUTION: Incorrect Time Zone may cause the BELLS not ringing at the right time. To set your Time/Date, go to Settings, selcet Time/Date from the drop down menu, use hh:mm:ss and yy/mm/dd formats for setting the Time and Date and enter your Time Zone, then click save button, you are now ready to schedule your bells. Each Netbell can set up to 500 bell event schedules. To add an event schedule, click Service then select Bells, go to Add section which is located at the bottom of Bells page. You may enter a 15 character Scheduler Name, select the Time (24hr format) (HH:MM:SS) from the drop down menu, enter a number (1 99) in the duration box and select a length (ms, Sec and Min, this is where you set how long you want your bell ringing), then click Add button, your first schedule will show up. Then select which bell applies this scheduler (bell number from 1 8, depends on which relay you connect your bell to). The selected bell will show as GREEN (otherwise GREY). Next, select the day of week which you want the bell ringing: from Sunday to Saturday (S M T W T F S). The selected day will shown as GREEN (otherwise GREY). If you have a complex bell schedule already laid out, you can import/export the existing schedules into Netbell system using.txt format. Download Bell Schedule To download your existing bell schedules, simply click the DOWNLOAD button at the bottom right conner, your browser will open a new window showing the schedules. To edit/save the schedules, please follow the instruction below: 1. Create a.txt file, 2. Copy and paste the bell schedules to your text file, add #Start at the very beginning of the schedules. 3. Notes for editing the schedules: 1). Your bell schedule list should always start with #START command. 2). The order for creating the schedules is: NAME (15char max),hh 2digit(24hr), MM (2digit),SS (2digit),BELLS (1 8),DOW (Sunday Saturday), Duration, Length. Seperate the value with comma. NAME Use any words for the name, max. 15 characters HOUR(HH) 2 digital number, 24 hours format. For example, if you want to set a scheduler at 3 clock in the afternoon, you need to set it as 15 in the HH area. MINUTE (MM) 2 digital number. SECOND (SS) 2 digital number. BELLS the bells you want to schedule, from 1 8, depending on the Netbell models you purchase. (Netbell 8: 1 8 bells, Netbell 2: 1 2 bells, Netbell 4: 1 4 bells, Netbell K(B): 1 8 bells). Using the value "1" for the bell you want to schedule, put value "0" for not on schedule bell. For example, if you have a Netbell 4, and you want to schedule all of the bells ringing at a certain time. then you BELLS value should be:
DAY OF WEEK (DOW) The day you want the bell ringing. Starting from Sunday, ends with Saturday. Use value "1" for the day you wish the bell ringing, "0" for no bell ringing. For example, you want to schedule your bell ringing from Monday to Friday, your DOW setting should be: Duration enter a number (1 99). Length ms, Sec or Min. Upload Bell Schedule To upload the existing schedule in to Netbell system, copy and paste #upload in the Name block, then click the ADD button, you will be directed to the upload page. Browse the file you created from your computer, then press Get Bells button, come back to the Bells page, your schedulers are already there! The page will also show you how many records have been uploaded. If you want to make any changes for the schedules you just uploaded, for example, to change which bell rings at certain days, simple click the the pips to check/uncheck, then click the SAVE PIPS button, your changes will be saved. Also you can refresh your bell schedule page by typing #refresh command in the Name block, then click the ADD button, the page will update the status of all your setting. If you want to clear all the schedulers you have set and upload a new one, you can do so by copy and paste #!reset@memory! command into the Name block, then push Add, your old schedulers will be deleted from your bell memory. BELL SCHEDULE SAMPLE: #Start Morning bell,07,00,00, , ,3,sec 8AM,08,00,00, , ,3,Sec Form,08,30,00, , ,3,Sec 9AM,09,00,00, , ,5,Sec 10AM,10,00,00, , ,3,Sec For more information on Netbell basic setting, please download the product manual on our website Download page: NETWORKED BELL SYSTEM Netbell software includes a built in remote function that can deliver a signal from a master bell system to trigger remote bells or horns in multiple locations in one web interface, which means you only need to schedule your master bell system, then all of your remote bell systems will ring at the same time after you setup the remote function. The feature is useful for schools or factories that need to have audible signals in separate areas or multiple buildings where running additional wiring is too expensive or not practical. To use this feature, you will need at least one Netbell as your control board (master board) for scheduling, and our Fargo or Koda web relay boards (slave board) in remote locations. The number of remote bells can be controlled by the Netbell (master bell) depends on the relay number of the Netbell. For example, with the Netbell K, Netbell KB and Netbell 8, you can control up to 8 remote bells in different locations. We will use this drawing as a sample to explain how to setup the networked bell system. In this sample application, we install a Netbell K in the main building with 8 relay outputs, we install a Koda 100 board in each of the remote building, connect a bell to Relay 1 of each Koda. The IP address for Koda from building 1 to 4 are: , , , , and we name each of the Koda as Building 1, Building 2, Building 3, Building 4. 4
1. REMOTE DEVICES SETUP THIS IS THE FIRST STEP TO CONNECT ALL OF YOUR DEVICES TOGETHER, SO THAT THEY CAN TALK TO EACH OTHER. a). Login to your Netbell, go to Configure menu, then select Remote Device Config from the drop down menu. b). On the Remote Device page, input your remote devices information, including Device Name, IP Address, Login User Name and Password. c). Click Save Config button after finish. The Remote Devices page will look like this: 2. USE THE NETBELL RELAY TO TRIGGER THE REMOTE DEVICES RELAY a).in our sample application, we use Bell No. 1 for the Netbell K's built in bell. Then we will use Bell No. 2 to trigger Building 1's bell, Bell No. 3 for Building 2, and so on. b). Login to the Netbell K webpage, go to Service Relays, select Bell No. 1, click the Edit icon, then you will be at the Set Relay page. Select Normal for the Relay Type, then click Save. c). Trigger Building 1's relay: go to Service Relays, select Bell No. 2, click the Edit icon, at Set Relay Page: Name: Building 1 (we use the same name as setup in Remote Device Setup page) Relay Type: Select Remote Location ID: 1 ( input the remote devices ID (from 1 8) which we set on Remote Device Setup page, the first column No. is the device ID) Relay at Location: 1 (as we connect the bell to Koda's relay 1). Click the Save button. Now, Building 1 remote bell has been set up to receive the signal from Netbell system. Repeat the same setting for Building 2, 3 and ADD A SCHEDULE TO RING ALL OF THE BELLS IN NETBELL SCHEDULE PAGE When you add a schedule on your Netbell and you want this schedule apply to all of your bells, you need to check all the pip for each bell. For example, we add a Test schedule to ring the bells at 9am, the schedule will like this: We have a step by step video " Using Relay Output or Digital Input to Trigger Remote Devices" on our website Download page to set up this remote function: Linor Technology, Inc.
