THE RIGHT PROJECTOR FOR YOU It s important to choose a projector that meets your needs: Ambient lighting. For the best picture clarity in a general living room where lighting may be bright, you need a projector with high brightness level and contrast ratio. The less light the better the image quality generally. Room size. Our new Extreme Short Projection system means you don t need to place the projector far from the wall to create a large, high quality image, unlike regular projectors. So there s no need to be concerned about walking or sitting in front of the projected image. Peripherals. Consider the connections you need for your other kit such as DVD player, TV tuner, AV system, games console, etc. If, however, you want to keep equipment to the minimum, take a look at the ultra-compact ET20 with built-in Dolby Digital 5.1 channel sound system. 5 DIGITAL LIGHT PROCESSING Image quality on the ET20 model is astonishing thanks to HQV (Hollywood Quality Video), an award-winning, state-of-the-art processing chip from Silicon Optix. Traditionally used only in high-end professional video equipment such as movie studios and broadcasting because of its size and high cost, the HQV processor has evolved, bringing the benefits to home cinema. The HQV chip processes individual pixels in the signal to produce incredibly sharp images with minimal jagged edges, fine noise reduction and precise colour tuning. Not simply a projector, the ET20 also features an integral DVD player, amplifier, sub woofer and 5 speaker Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound system. Toshiba projectors incorporate DLP (Digital Light Processing) technology - as opposed to LCD - which we believe provides a more complete cinema and gaming experience in your home. DLP works by projecting light from the projector s lamp onto a DLP chip, made up of thousands of tiny mirrors. Each mirror represents a single pixel and directs the light projected onto it either into the lens path to turn the pixel on or away from it to turn it off. A colour wheel spins between the lamp and the chip and changes the colour of the light hitting the chip from red, to green, to blue. Each mirror on the DLP chip tilts towards or away from the lens path depending on how much of a particular colour light is required for that pixel at any given instant. This technology allows Toshiba s projectors to be much smaller and lighter than many LCD equivalents and therefore much more portable.
