7 SENSAIR MANUAL INTRODUCTION Applicatios Geeral The purpose of the Comfort air curtai is to separate climates betwee two rooms ad to heat ad filter air (filter class EN779-G2). The uit is istalled horizotally above the doorway, across its full width. Moutig types The free-hagig model is desiged for free, visible istallatio above the door. The recessed model is desiged for itegratio ito a false ceilig or ito a alcove, with the ilet opeig possibly at some distace from the uit. The cassette model is desiged for istallatio above a false ceilig, with the ilet opeig close to the uit; the uit must be easily accessible. Maual versio 1.0- North America ( ) e-7

8 INTRODUCTION COMFORT AIR CURTAIN Comfort air curtai for Daiki system With models SRV ad SRQ: The air curtai is coected to a direct expasio system from Daiki. The air discharged by the uit is heated by the coolig medium. The air curtai is cotrolled ad operated partly by the Daiki system ad partly by the Biddle system. This system has a umber of limitatios: The uit is oly suitable for use i Daiki direct expasio systems. The uit is ot suitable for coolig. The Daiki system has to be active at all times. Other versios ad iteded use Upo request, we ca supply versios for o-stadard applicatios. w Warig: Applicatios other tha those described above are deemed to be usage other tha for the iteded purpose. Biddle is ot liable for damage or loss resultig from usage other tha for the iteded purpose. Usage for the iteded purpose also etails observace of the istructios i this maual Operatio Geeral I a opeig betwee two rooms, air is exchaged through pressure ad temperature differeces (covectio). This leads to eergy losses ad detracts from the comfort i the room. For reasos such as accessibility, it may evertheless be desirable to leave the door stadig ope. A air curtai above the door opeig couteracts losses of eergy ad comfort. At the locatio of the opeig, it blows out a stream of air ad thereby brigs about the followig: The exchage of air betwee two rooms due to a temperature differece (covectio) is couteracted. The air that eters at floor level due to draught is possibly heated. e-8

9 SENSAIR MANUAL INTRODUCTION The automatic CHIPS cotrol The CHIPS cotrol automatically adjusts the stregth ad heat of the uit to chagig weather coditios. Thus, i all situatios the eergy loss is miimal ad the comfort maximal. CHIPS stads for Corrective Heat ad Impulse Predictio System. Cotrol whe uit o The uit ad the auto-active cotrol have bee developed for situatios i which the door stads ope. For the most efficiet climate separatio ad preservatio of comfort it is importat that the airflow just touches the floor ad is heated sufficietly. The uit cotiuously measures the values that are eeded i order to achieve this: 1. The istallatio height (etered i the cotrol pael) 2. The temperature differece betwee the two rooms: - outdoor temperature - room temperature 3. The temperature of the discharged air As soo as the situatio chages, the cotrol adjusts the outlet flow rate ad the temperature of the airflow to that. Cotrol with uit off If the uit is off at ight, for example it is ot active. If it is off, the uit ca ideed still perform other fuctios: The uit ca be set to keep the room at a miimal ight temperature. Water-heated models are equipped with itegrated frost protectio. Door respose The uit ad the auto-active cotrol have bee developed for situatios i which the door stads ope. If the door is ot cotiuously ope, the operatio ca be adjusted to this: Normal operatio: the uit is always active. Direct door respose: the uit respods directly to the opeig ad closig of the door. With the door closed, the uit ca be set to keep the room at a miimal room temperature. I some situatios the uit is ot active, eve though it is o i-sese ifra red techology The i-sese ifra red techology makes it possible to use the automatic CHIPS cotrol without addig exteral cotrols such as a outdoor temperature sesor ad a door cotact switch. Next to the discharge grille is a IR sesor which measures the temperature i a strip of 8 plaes perpedicular to the door opeig. As a result, the sesor provides the cotroller with diverse iformatio: The temperature of a floor surface chages gradually. idoor temperature (T8) outdoor temperature (lowest measured value of T1, T2 ad T3) A outdoor temperature is oly measured if the IR sesor recogises the door as beig ope. door positio If the differece betwee T5 ad T1, T2 or T3 is at least 3 C is, it is assumed that the door is ope. For correct operatio, the followig coditios apply: The IR sesor must be able to measure the temperature o the outdoor floor: - The sightlies must be free. (see Positio of IR sesor) - I a situatio with several doors, the door at which the sesor is aimed must also ope regularly. The temperature of the floor must be reliable. Factors such as uderfloor heatig, direct sulight o a dark floor or a strogly-reflective surface ca make the measuremets ureliable. The sesor is less suitable for situatios i which extremely high outdoor temperatures (more tha 10 C higher tha the idoor temperature) regularly occur ad the room makes use of air coditioig. Positio of IR sesor Whe the uit is switched o for the first time, the Istallatio Guide will start up. At the same time, a test is also made to see whether the IR sesor ca perform the ecessary measuremets. Possibly check i advace whether the positio of the uit is suitable for use of the i-sese ifra red techology. The IR sesor measures the temperature i a strip of 8 plaes perpedicular to the door opeig. I order to be able to make use of the i-sese ifra red techology, at least 1 complete plae must be able to measure the temperature o the outdoor floor. Measure agle α Take accout of elemets that ca block the agle (exit sig, door cotrol system ad suchlike) - If agle α < 16 (H1:B1 < 3.5): The IR sesor does ot measure the outdoor temperature. Chage the positio of the uit or use a alterative for the measuremet of the outdoor temperature. - If agle α 16 (H1:B1 3.5): Measure agle β. 2. Measure agle β. 3. Check i the table that agle β does ot exceed the maximum value correspodig to the measured agle α. - If agle β is too large: The IR sesor does ot measure the outdoor temperature. Discoect the mais supply (remove plug from the power socket or set the isolatio switch to OFF). 6. For water-heated models: shut off the cetral heatig feed (if possible). c Cautio: For models to be coected to a Daiki direct expasio system: water may be preset i the ispectio pael if the system is, or was recetly, ruig i defrost mode. w Warig: The fis of the heat exchager are sharp. e-18

19 2.. Istallatio w Warig: Istallatio activities may oly be performed by techical staff qualified for this purpose. w Warig: Before startig istallatio: read the safety istructios. Coect the uit to the mais supply. c Cautio: Make sure that the uit s power supply voltage matches the local mais voltage. The uit s power supply voltage is displayed o the type plate. 5. Istall the cotrol pael ad (ay optioal) coectios to exteral cotrols. 6. Complete the istallatio of the uit. 7. For models to be coected to a Daiki direct expasio system: coect the uit to the Daiki system. 8. Switch the mais supply o ad check that the uit is workig properly. Geeral istructios Some parts of this sectio oly apply to certai models. Where this is the case, it will be idicated. If o specific model is referred to, the the descriptio applies to all models. Make sure that you perform all istallatio operatios that are applicable to your uit. Check the type plate ad cosult the maual if i doubt about the model or type of your uit. Durig the istallatio period, protect the uit agaist damage ad peetratio of dust, cemet, etc. You ca, for istace, use the packagig for protectio. e-20

21 SENSAIR MANUAL INSTALLATION 2.3 Hagig the uit up Determiig the locatio of the uit d Dager: Do ot istall the uit i a vertical positio. Make sure that the structure from which the uit is about to be suspeded ca bear at least 4 times the weight of the uit. The uit s weight is idicated o its type plate. Note the followig dimesios: - The uit must be at least as wide as the door opeig (dimesio b). - Positio the uit as ear to the doorway as possible. - Positio the uit as close to the top of the door as possible. - The IR sesor must be able to measure the temperature o the outdoor floor. (see Positio of IR sesor) w Warig: The miimum istallatio height is 1.8 m (6 ft). The maximum moutig height of the uit (dimesio h, measured from the floor to the discharge grille) depeds o the uit type. w Warig: The top of the uit may get hot. 22 INSTALLATION COMFORT AIR CURTAIN Suspesio method The uit ca be suspeded i various ways: From wall cosoles (accessory): - model stadard - model desig From threaded rods: - without threaded rod liig - with threaded rod liig (accessory) I all cases, the uit is hug from the suspesio frame usig suspesio brackets Attachig the wall cosoles (accessory) Attach the wall cosoles i accordace with the istructios supplied Fixig the threaded rods Fix four threaded rods M8 (1/4" or metric thread M8) i accordace with the dimesios i the table. Make sure the threaded rods are perpedicular. With uits of 250mm legth, three suspesio brackets are used. Fix six threaded rods for that type. Use the outermost suspesio 1 whe applyig threaded rod liig (accessory) if this is also supposed to hide the water pipig. The dimesios are specifically listed i the table. e-22

Place the left- (L) ad right brackets (R) i the correct positio. 1. Screw a lock ut 1 oto each threaded rod. 2. Place the suspesio brackets 2 oto the threaded rods ad the put o the uts Make sure that the suspesio brackets are hagig horizotally ad at equal height. 4. 24 INSTALLATION COMFORT AIR CURTAIN Suspedig ad securig the uit 1. Remove the compoets ad packagig from the pallet with the uit o it. Leave the uit o the pallet. 2. The uit is fixed to the pallet with two trasportatio brackets 1. Remove the screws 2. But do ot remove the brackets from the uit. 3. Tilt the uit across the pallet ad lay it dow as show opposite. 4. Lift the pallet, with the uit o it, ad hook the uit ito the suspesio brackets. c Cautio: Depedig o the weight (specified o the type plate), either use a liftig device or lift the uit: this requires at least 2 persos. Always use the pallet whe liftig the uit, i order to prevet ay damage. 5. The uit is ow suspeded from the suspesio brackets: remove the pallet. 6. Remove the trasportatio brackets 1 from the uit. e-24

25 SENSAIR MANUAL INSTALLATION 7. Fit a lock plate 3 to each suspesio bracket. w Warig: The uit may fall dow if you do ot secure the suspesio. 8. Check whether the uit is suspeded firmly: 2.4 Coectig the uit to the cetral heatig system Oly for water-heated models (type H3) Special poits regardig the water coectio c Cautio: The cetral heatig system s supply ad retur pipes must be attached to the correct correspodig coectors 1. 26 INSTALLATION COMFORT AIR CURTAIN The vetig valve 2 of the heat exchager is located at the left, o the top of the uit. The water-side cotrol valve is automatically closed by default if the air curtai ad/or the heatig is switched off. This ca be adjusted o the cotrol pael via meu > Cofiguratio > 25. Auto: Door respose > Stadby heatig Frost protectio The electroic cotrol features itegrated frost protectio. This works i two stages: 1. If the temperature of the discharged air falls to below 5 ºC (41 ºF) ad the temperature of the itake air falls below 8ºC (46ºF): - the valve of the itegral water-side cotrol will ope fully; - the output o the uit gives a sigal for the cetral heatig istallatio provided that fuctio 61. Fuctio of outputs o the cotrol pael is set to Risk of freezig. 2. If the temperature of the discharged air falls to below 2 ºC (36 ºF) ad the temperature of the itake falls below 8 ºC (46 ºF): - the cotrol pael will temporarily display error message E6; - the fas will be switched off, but the valve of the waterside cotrol will stay ope. c Cautio: The frost protectio reduces the risk of freezig but does ot guaratee complete protectio. Take the followig precautios if you istall the uit i a room where frost may occur: - Esure costat circulatio of the water at the right temperature; - Add up to 20% glycol to the water whe the uit is ot i operatio durig the witertime; - Or bleed the system ad the uit. e-26

27 SENSAIR MANUAL INSTALLATION Uits with side coectio Upo request, uits with water-side coectios o the side ca be supplied. The water-side cotrol is the ot built-i, but has to be coected outside the uit durig istallatio. 1. Coect the valve to the coectios 1 as show i the correspodig diagram. 2. Coect the valve drive to termial 2. By default, the idoor temperature is measured by the IR sesor ext to the discharge grille. The cotrol pael cotais a temperature sesor ad a coectio for a possible extra temperature sesor. Positio the cotrol pael i a logical place if you wat to use oe of these sesors as a idoor temperature sesor. Cablig Take the followig ito accout, otherwise errors may occur: - The cotrol cable betwee the cotrol pael ad the (first) coected uit may ot be loger tha 50 m(165 ft.). - Keep cotrol cables away from electromagetic fields ad iterferece sources such as high-voltage cables ad fluorescet light starters, for example. - Lay the cotrol cables out straight or roll them i a bifilar coil by foldig cables i half before rollig them. As a result, the magetic fields will cacel each other out to a importat extet. Use Biddle cotrol cables oly. Stadard modular telephoe cable is NOT suitable. Multiple uits operated from a sigle cotrol pael A maximum of 10 uits ca be coected to a sigle cotrol pael. To do so, the uits must be daisy chaied. The total legth of the cotrol cables must ot exceed 100m (330ft). If the distace becomes too great, a additioal cotrol pael must be coected. Optioal: Lock the cotrol pael with the screw o the uderside. Durig the first start-up, the istallatio guide is iitiated. Go through this i order to make the most ecessary settigs. If the cotrol pael does ot work, or if the display shows a error message, there is a error: cosult the relevat sectio. This may take some time ad is depedet o the eed for heatig. For models coected to a Daiki system (model SRQ): Operate the uit usig the Daiki cotrol pael ad check its operatio: 1. Tur the system o. The uit should start dischargig air. 2. Set the operatioal mode to heat ad set the temperature to maximum. After a while, the uit should discharge warm air. 3. Set the operatioal mode to fa oly. After a while, the uit should discharge uheated air. 4. Tur the system off. After a while, the uit should switch itself off. For electrically heated models (type E): 1. Make sure that the heatig is eabled o the cotrol pael. 2. Feel whether the discharged air stream becomes warm. This is depedet o the eed for heatig. e-46

This cotrol matches the stregth ad heat of the uit to chagig weather coditios. This reduces eergy cosumptio ad improves comfort through selectio of the optimum settig uder all circumstaces. CHIPS stads for Corrective Heat ad Impulse Predictio System Automatic or maual cotrol The uit has a automatic mode ad a maual mode. You ca select these by touchig the uppermost part of the symbol. Whe the uit is switched o, it is always i automatic mode. If you wish to use the uit i maual mode oly, switch off the automatic mode via meu > Settigs > 1. Select modes. I the maual mode, the uit operates with a fixed set fa speed, possibly iflueced by the settigs of fuctio 26. Maual: Door respose. Recommeded settig of the uit To obtai the greatest possible comfort with the least possible eergy cosumptio, Biddle recommeds use of the fully automatic CHIPS cotrol. Due to weather coditios, you might wat to adjust the automatic settig. If you feel a cold draught alog the floor, you ca icrease the automatic stregth. Maual settig of the stregth With the maual settig, you ca select the stregth. To achieve maximum climate separatio with miimum eergy cosumptio, Biddle recommeds selectig the lowest stregth at which o draught occurs. This settig may possibly eed to be chaged durig the course of the day Required room temperature You ca set the temperature to a comfortable level. This is the temperature at the air curtai. For uits coected to a Daiki system (SRV ad SRQ), the temperature cotrol is less accurate tha with water heatig or electrical heatig. Temperature adjustmets via the home scree of the b-touch cotrol pael oly apply util the startig time of the followig period. The default value ca be set via meu > Settigs > 5. Room temperature Errors The symbol ä idicates that there is a error. The error message is displayed alogside. Touch this message for further iformatio o the error ad for istructios as to how to react. w Warig: Some errors may cause damage or dager to persos if they are disregarded. This fuctio ca be deactivated via settig 21 i the cofiguratio meu. Select Heatig. Whe the heatig is switched off, the airflow is displayed i blue. The heatig ca also be switched off by the cotrol itself: by a exteral sigal at the iput of the uit, see meu > Cofiguratiomeu > Cofiguratio > 60. Fuctio of iputs, settig Heatig off; whe the outdoor temperature is higher tha the settig of fuctio 41. Heatig OFF temperature. Filter Dirty filters make the uit less effective. It is therefore ecessary to clea or replace the filters at regular itervals. The cotamiatio of filters is measured with the optioal filter sesor or calculated o the basis of the lifespa. With the optioal filter sesor, the uit measures the filter cotamiatio every 24 hours by ruig the fas at the highest speed for 40 secods. I this meu, you ca set the time at which this check should be carried out. w Warig: As default, the check is carried out at 00:00 a.m. (midight). Be aware that the airflow of the uit ca set objects i motio. This might set off a alarm system i the buildig at ight time. The cleaig iterval ca be adjusted to match the actual cotamiatio of the filters. The lifespa of the filter is calculated o the basis of the usage of the uit if o filter sesor has bee istalled. You ca adjust this by settig the maximum lifespa of the filter. Whe the filters are cotamiated or whe the maximum lifespa is reached, a message appears o the Home scree. Also, a sigal ca be geerated o oe of the outputs. You ca clea the filter with a vacuum cleaer, for istace. After several cleaigs, however, the filter must be replaced. Use this fuctio to disable the touch scree for 20 secods i order to be able to clea it. Timer The b-touch cotrol pael has a week timer. You ca set two start ad stop times for every day of the week. The uit is o betwee the start time ad the stop time. The secod start ad stop times are optioal. Whe the ON/OFF butto is displayed o the scree, the uit ca also be switched ON or OFF maually. From the ext switchig momet, the uit follows the timer agai. Whe the timer is switched o, the is displayed o the Home scree. 3.4 Prefereces Prefereces The meu Prefereces allows you to make settigs for the use of the cotrol pael. Set laguage The cotrol pael offers a choice of laguages. Choose your preferred laguage from the list. Set date ad time The date ad time are ecessary for the timer fuctio, the lifespa of the filter ad for trackig usage statistics of the uit. c Cautio: The date is also required i situatios where the IR sesor is ot suitable for measurig the outdoor temperature ad o outdoor temperature sesor has bee coected. I that case, the CHIPS cotrol estimates the outdoor temperature based o the moth of the year ad the climate data for your coutry. A icorrect date causes the uit to work less optimally. The automatic summer time fuctio switches the clock to summer or witer time i accordace with the applicable Europea rules. If you do ot use this fuctio, you ca switch to summer time maually. The display of these tips ca be eabled or disabled. 3.5 Settigs The Settigs meu allows you to eter settigs which ifluece the day-to-day use of the uit. 1. Select modes The cotrol pael has a automatic mode ad a maual mode. With the fuctio Select modes, you ca set which of these modes ca be selected i the HOME scree. 5. Room temperature Here, set the temperature which is to be used, by default, as the room temperature whe startig up the uit. The desired room temperature ca temporarily be adjusted o the home scree util the ext start-up momet. 6. Miimum air temperature Set the miimum differece betwee the room temperature ad the discharge temperature. This differece ca be icreased for more comfort. A smaller differece saves eergy. 8. Night temperature The ight temperature is used whe the uit is switched off. Use this fuctio to adjust the temperature readig. 3.6 Cofiguratio The meu Cofiguratio allows you to eter settigs i order to adjust the operatio of the uit to the room ad the system. Usually, this meu is used oly for istallatio, maiteace ad service purposes. 20. Access cotrol Pi code Access to the etire cotrol pael or to the meu aloe ca be protected with a four-digit PIN code. The default PIN code is The cut-out oly starts to operate whe the cotrol pael has to be activated agai. This meas you should wait a while util the scree turs black. Access level The cotrol pael ca be safeguarded at differet access levels. 21. User iterface optios Display o/off butto The uit ca be switched ON ad OFF maually. Use this fuctio to suppress these messages. Safety-related warigs will always be displayed. 25. Auto: Door respose Door respose The uit ca respod i various ways to the opeig ad closig of the door. Cofigure whether the respose should be direct or gradual. Direct chage: The uit respods directly to the opeig ad closig of the door. Use this settig if the door is ot ofte opeed repeatedly i quick successio. Gradual chage: The speed at which the uit respods to the opeig ad closig of the door is based o the ope/closed ratio. If the door is opeed repeatedly i quick successio, the uit reacts more slowly. As a result, it does ot eed to completely start up agai every time the door opes. Use this settig if the door is ofte opeed repeatedly i quick successio. Fa speed Set what the fa speed must be whe cotact is made with the iput. Use this with a door cotact switch to reduce the fa speed as soo as the door is closed. This oly has effect if fuctio 60. Fuctio of iputs is set to Direct chage or Gradual chage. If this fuctio is set to zero (fas off), the fas ca start workig with the doors closed. That serves to maitai the room temperature. If you do t wat this, the act as follows: decrease the set room temperature, or: set the fuctio to a value other tha zero. e-56

A adjustable percetage of the fa speed is used i order to brig the room to the correct temperature. As soo as the room temperature has bee reached, the fas switch off. Fa speed for room temperature cotrol Set the percetage of the fa speed that must be used for room temperature cotrol. This oly has a effect whe the room temperature cotrol is eabled. Stad-by heatig The cotrol ca be set i such a way that heat is immediately available whe the door is opeed. This is a percetage of the maximum heat available for this fuctio. The maximum heat depeds o the outdoor temperature, amog other thigs. Set the amout of heatig that must be available whe the door is opeed: Whe immediate heat is importat, set a high percetage. Whe savig eergy is importat, set a low percetage. The room temperature cotrol ca affect this quatity of available heat. 26. Maual: Door respose Set the way i which the uit i maual mode should respod to the opeig ad closig of the door: Respose as set via fuctio 25. Auto: Door respose No door respose (The uit always works o the set fa settig) 31. Maximum stregth To restrict the soud level, the maximum fa speed ca be limited. I fuctios 41, 42 ad 43 you specify at what outdoor temperatures the heatig ad the fas must react. Outdoor temperature The automatic CHIPS cotrol eeds a outdoor temperature i order to calculate the optimal settig. Without outdoor temperature data from a sesor, the outdoor temperature is estimated o the basis of the moth of the year ad your coutry. Climate data are used for this. You ca oly use the fuctio if the date ad time have bee correctly set. After selectig your coutry, you ca modify the mothly temperatures i accordace with your wishes. Sice this is oly a estimatio, it may be that your uit does ot fuctio optimally. The auto-active cotrol works less efficietly without a outdoor temperature sesor. (IR sesor or wired sesor) 45. Extra frost protectio For water-heated models oly Whe the uit is switched off, the water valve closes by default. The uit is equipped, by default, with frost protectio. You ca additioally protect the uit agaist frost damage by leavig the water valve partially ope at certai temperatures. Select Valve positio ad set the opeig percetage of the valve so as to always keep a flow ruig over the heat exchager i the uit. Set the maximum outdoor temperature at which the additioal frost protectio must be activated. Whe the temperature exceeds this value, the additioal frost protectio switches off agai. Whe the timer is i use, the ON/OFF fuctio of the iput of the cotrol pael is deactivated, irrespective of this settig. If a additioal temperature sesor is coected, this takes over the fuctio of the sesor i the cotrol pael. Selectig Temperature without actually coectig a sesor leads to a error message. 66. Daiki settigs For all models coected to a Daiki system (types SRV ad SRQ) Specify whether the uit may also be switched o ad off by the Daiki system. 71. Idoor temperature sesor Select the sesor which the system must use for the idoor temperature: Sesor i the cotrol pael. Sesor i the air ilet of the uit. The average of the sesor i the air ilet of the uit ad the sesor i the cotrol pael. The average of the sesor i the air ilet of the uit ad the IR sesor. The IR sesor measures the gradual temperature chages of the floor surface. Select this optio if draught or heat loss across the floor ofte occurs. Set a miimum ad a maximum room temperature. 3.7 Maiteace The meu Maiteacecotais iformatio o the use of the uit ad offers a umber of fuctios which are ecessary for remedyig errors. Status The status scree displays geeral iformatio about the istallatio ad specific iformatio per group ad per uit coected. Curret errors Gives a overview of curret errors. The error messages ca also be deleted here. Error history Gives a overview of the errors which have occurred. Capacity test Use this fuctio to test the capacity of the uit ad your heatig istallatio. The uit will ru for 30 miutes at the highest fa speed ad the highest heatig capacity. You ca check the discharge temperature ad the heatig capacity per metre of uit legth. The discharge temperature is limited to 50 C. e-64

65 SENSAIR MANUAL OPERATION For uits with water heatig: if the heatig capacity is too low, check the supply ad retur water temperatures ad the water flow. Valve check Use this fuctio to check the operatio of the water valve: 1. Set the opeig percetage of the valve to 0%; 2. Press start. The fas will start rotatig at the highest speed; 3. Check whether the discharged air is cold; It may take some time before the valve reaches the adjusted opeig percetage. 4. Repeat steps 1 ad 2 for the percetages 50% ad 100% as well. I doig so, check whether the discharged air gets warmer per step. Check door cotact switch With this fuctio, you check the operatio of a door cotact switch coected to the uit. For this purpose, you have to ope ad close the door, so that the cotrol pael ca detect the switch. Calibrate filter sesor The uit ca be equipped with a filter sesor. Calibratig the sesor will determie the base level of the filter sesor. Perform the calibratio after istallig a recessed uit, for example. c Cautio: Make sure the uit is properly istalled ad that the filters are clea. Istallatio This istallatio guide leads you through the most frequetly required settigs. The istallatio guide is started up automatically durig the first start-up of the uit or after the resettig of the factory cofiguratio. Uit code For eterig the uit code after replacemet of the cotrol circuit board i a uit. Default settigs Restores the default factory settigs of the setup meu. This is used for: updatig the software importig ad exportig settigs exportig operatig data This meu is automatically activated whe a USB flash drive is coected. The meu is closed agai whe the USB flash drive is removed. c Cautio: Do ot remove the USB flash drive durig updatig or durig the importig or exportig of data. This ca take several miutes. w Warig: Coectio of other electroic devices to the USB port ca cause serious damage to the cotrol pael or to other electroic compoets. The display flickers The uit blows out cold air (without error message). Oly for electrically heated models: the uit cools dow automatically. The fas may be switched off if there is oly a small differece i temperature betwee idoors ad outdoors. The ilet ad/or discharge sectio is blocked. The uit is set at too low a stregth. This error may occur: if the uit has bee temporarily without power, e.g. due to a power failure; if the filter is dirty ad lets isufficiet air through. I other cases, there may be a serious fault that may pose a risk to people. 1. Check whether all coected uits are provided with mais supply. 2. Check whether the dummy plug o termial X535 of the last coected uit is preset. 3. Check the cotrol cables: are they correctly coected ad free of breaks? are they stretched out or rolled up i a bifilar coil? are they shielded from magetic fields? 4. Check the fuses. 5. 79 5.. Maiteace 5.1 Itroductio This chapter comprises those maiteace activities that the user himself ca perform. Maiteace activities ad repairs that must be performed by a istaller are described i chapter 6 Servicig. 5.2 Replacig or cleaig the filter The filter must be cleaed regularly. A dirty filter may be the cause of iadequate heatig ad a high oise level. The iterval at which the filter must be cleaed depeds o the surroudigs. By default, filter cotamiatio is moitored o the basis of the amout of time that the uit is i operatio. As a optio, the uit ca be fitted with a filter sesor which measures filter cotamiatio. You ca chage the time betwee filter cleaig sessios by adjustig the maximum lifespa of the filter or the cleaig iterval. You ca clea the filter with a vacuum cleaer, for istace. After several cleaigs, however, the filter must be replaced. New filters are available from Biddle Procedure whe replacig the filter 1. Select meu > Filter > Cleaig the filter o the cotrol pael. 2. Wait util the fas have stopped ad the heat exchager has cooled dow. 3. Clea or replace the filters. 4. Select ok o the cotrol pael whe you have fiished cleaig or replacig the filters. Remove the ilet grates from the uit: - Lift the grate at the bottom ad uhook it. For cassette models 1. Remove the ilet grille from its frame: - Push the two electrodes 1 i the grille towards oe aother: the grille will tilt dow. - Push the two electrodes at 2 towards oe aother ad take the grille out. Discoect all coectors attached to the uit ad earth coectios from the cotrol circuit board. 4. Remove the screw Slide the cotrol circuit board 4 loose ad lift it out of the uit. 6. Possibly, remove the etire electroics module by removig the screws at Coectig the cotrol circuit board w Warig: Make sure that the mais supply is switched off 1. Slide the cotrol circuit board ito its place ad screw it i firmly. 2. Coect all coectors ad earth coectios to the cotrol circuit board agai. 3. Switch the uit o ad check the operatio. With a ew cotrol circuit board, a E1 malfuctio may occur because the old cotrol circuit board ca o loger be foud. Resolve this by recofigurig the system via meu > Maiteace > Reset system If you are asked to desigate a ew master uit, the preferably select a uit whose cotrol circuit board has ot bee replaced. The discharge sectio has the followig coectios to the electroics module (at 1): - The coectio for the IR sesor; - the valve drive coectios o the cotrol circuit board (coectors X140 ad X210); - the earth coectio. Discoect these coectios. 3. Betwee the fis of the discharge grille, there are 4 screws (at 2): uscrew these. c Cautio: Support the discharge sectio while you loose the screws. 4. Press x for 10 secods. The PIN code is reset ad a ew PIN code has to be etered. 3. Exit the USB meu by removig the USB flash drive Copyig the settigs of the b-touch cotrol pael The settigs of the b-touch cotrol pael ca be copied to aother b-touch cotrol pael What you eed Before copyig the settig of the cotrol pael, check that you have the followig: A empty USB flash drive. Keep the fuctio Import settigs pressed dow util the progress of the process is displayed. The settigs are ow beig imported. I the evet of a error message, check whether the file ame has bee chaged to settigs.txt. 5. Whe this has bee completed, discoect the USB flash drive from the cotrol pael. 6. If the software versio is the same as that of the most recet update file o Biddle s website, you do ot eed to update the software. 1. Press meu i the Home scree. 2. Select Maiteace. The versio of the curret software is displayed i the status overview Step 2: Dowload the most recet software 1. Coect the USB flash drive to a USB port o your PC. 2. O your PC, go to Biddle s website ad look uder Dowloads. 3. Look for your product ad the available software for your uit. 4. If the software versio is more recet tha the versio o your cotrol pael, click o the software update. 5. Accept the licece agreemet ad save the file to the mai directory of the USB flash drive. 6. Discoect the USB flash drive from the PC Step 3: Updatig the software Warig: w Do ot switch off the uit or discoect the USB flash drive durig the software update. Do ot discoect the USB flash drive from the cotrol pael eve if there is a power failure durig the update. The update will resume as soo as the power returs.
