ASTRONOMICAL CONTROL SYSTEM FOR LIGHTING SC2A-60 Basic Manual DIMACO S.C.G. A Coruña. 2011
ASTRONOMICAL CONTROL SYSTEM FOR LIGHTING SC2A INTRODUCTION The SC2A-60 is an astronomical clock to control the lighting. It provides highly customized programming capabilities allowing it to fit the needs of every facility, providing high quality service and great energy savings. The device performs an exact calculation of sunrise and sunset using the local geographic coordinates, longitude and latitude, given in degrees and minutes. These can be entered through a global geographic database of countries, provinces, cities or municipalities. The SC2A-60 can be used at any location on Earth in latitudes between 65 N and 65º S. The SC2A-60 basically controls three output circuits: Astronomical, Voluntary (or energy saving) and Auxiliary. The astronomical control can be advanced or delayed up to 60 minutes compared to the calculated sunrise and sunset. The voluntary control is based on a timetable combined with the astronomical state. The auxiliary control, capable to operate independent of the astronomical, is based on a timetable combined with daily, weekly and annual programs. The complete programming and operating data visualization can be done manually, using an alphanumeric retro-illuminated liquid crystal display and two push buttons. This can also be done with a software application in a computer plugged through the RS-232 connector available, allowing it to be used in a centralized lighting control system. Furthermore, this equipment allows remote firmware updating, and this can be done at the installation location. All these operating characteristics and its small size (housed in a modular DIN rail mounting up to 6 modules wide), turn the SC2A-60 in a very interesting equipment for the ease of programming, the saving factor that introduces on precise control of lighting switching to coincide with the sunset and the sunrise, the faculty to correct this astronomical switching, the potential to set different corrections and voluntary periods in summer and winter, and the outside elements installation no needing maintenance costs. 2. DESCRIPTION SC2A-60 P1 Nº AÑO P2 2 DIMACO S.C.G.
The unit is integrated into an envelope of self-extinguishing insulating material, consisting of a box, a front cover and terminal caps. The box, including lids connections at the top and bottom sides, is the supporting element of the equipment, having at the rear side a guide and symmetrical rail anchoring (EN 50022, BS 5584, DIN ) in 35 mm x 7.5 mm. The front cover contains a retro-illuminated alphanumeric LCD capable of 2 lines and up to 8 characters each line, push buttons P1 and P2 for manual programming and operating data visualization, and the 9 contact RS-232 male connector to allow near or remote PC connection, allowing complete data programming, displaying and checking operating data, and output circuit telecontrol. The terminal covers take care of covering the terminals and the wire ends attached to them, profiling the shape of the box. On the case and facing the terminal caps are the connection diagrams. 3. REGIME OPERATION After providing the supply voltage the SC2A-60 automatically enters in regime operating mode showing clock-calendar screen in the display. Pressing repetitively the button P1 the data verification screens are displayed sequentially without altering the normal (regime) operation. These screens are: 1) Clock-calendar screen: It shows the current date in the first line in format Day-Month-Year; and in the second line the weekday (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday), the hour and minute (HH:MM) in 24 hour format, in the official local time. The symbol ':' blinks every second. 2) Equipment model, firmware version and serial number screen: The serial number XXXXXX is a 6 decimal digit value which cannot be programmed by the user. It's internally stamped in the device's manufacturing process. 3) Calculated and corrected switching on and off times screen: It shows the calculated and corrected switching on (I) and off (O) times for the astronomical control circuit in official local time. 4) Output circuits S1 to S3 state screen: 18/06/11 Sa 10:36 SC2A60-3 NSXXXXXX I 17:41 O 07:46 As Vo Au O O O Shows the current on (I) / off (O) state of the three output circuits: Astronomical (S1), Voluntary (S2) and Auxiliary (S3). 5) Key code input screen to get access to manual data programming: P2 Enter Key code 4 DIMACO S.C.G.
When the valid key code is inserted, it permits the access to manual data programming (see data programming chapter). This screen is skipped when the key code was disabled (programmed with the value zero). CLOCK Features an integrated clock calibrated by the manufacturer which guarantees an accuracy better than 0.4 s/day, not accumulable, with perpetual calendar time (taking account of leap years), and automatic execution of adjustments or daylight savings (as long as these have not been disabled). A lithium battery ensures data integrity for over 10 years in the absence of power supply. ADJUSTMENTS OR DAYLIGHT SAVING The SC2A-60 adjusts itself to the official time of the country/local. When the adjustments are enabled (Ad- 1) the time changes are performed automatically in accordance to the following table: Program No. Daylight saving starts on Daylight saving ends on 0 Day-month programmed for the summer season start Day-month programmed for the winter season start 1 Last March's Sunday Last October's Sunday 2 Second March's Sunday First November's Sunday 3 First April's Sunday Last October's Sunday 4 Second March's Sunday Last October's Sunday 5 First October's Sunday First April's Sunday 6 Last September's Sunday First April's Sunday 7 Third August's Sunday Second May's Sunday 8 Third October's Sunday Third February's Sunday 9 First September's Sunday Third April's Sunday 10 First October's Sunday Second April's Sunday 11 First October 's Sunday Second March's Sunday 12 First September's Sunday First April's Sunday 13 Is coded in day-month of summer season start Is coded in day-month of winter season start The device performs the time changes to start daylight saving time (at 2:00 jumps automatically to 3:00) and stop daylight saving time (at 3:00 jumps automatically to 2:00). SEASON CHANGES For determining the summer or winter season this machine has two modes: programmed mode and automatic mode. In programmed mode the changes are made on the scheduled dates for this, and in automatic mode, selected when these dates are set to ASTRONOMICAL CONTROL SYSTEM FOR LIGHTING SC2A-60 5
zero, they coincide with the dates of the adjustments or automatic daylight saving time changes. ACTUATIONS In regime operating mode it performs the corresponding output circuit actuations in accordance to the programmed values and the time data. In the output status screen S1 to S3 indicate the true on (I) or off (O) output circuit status. LITHIUM BATTERY The SC2A-60 continually performs monitoring of the lithium battery charge level used as a backup. In case of detecting low charge level it shows the following screen (a replacement by another of the same type is urged): Li Batte discharg DATA CHECKING Likewise a continuous check is performed on the internally stored data. In case of detecting any error the unit immediately shows the following screen: GENERAL FAILURE In this case a reset must be performed. See data programming. 5. DATA INPUT.
