4 Thank you for choosing our product! This User Manual is designed to show you how to use this video processor quickly and make use of all the features. Please read all directions and instructions carefully before using this product. Declarations FCC/Warranty Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Statement This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a class A digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment in a residential area may cause harmful interference, in which case the user will be responsible for correcting any interference. Guarantee and Compensation RGBlink provides a guarantee relating to perfect manufacturing as part of the legally stipulated terms of guarantee. On receipt, the purchaser must immediately inspect all delivered goods for damage incurred during transport, as well as for material and manufacturing faults. RGBlink must be informed immediately in writing of any complains. The period of guarantee begins on the date of transfer of risks, in the case of special systems and software on the date of commissioning, at latest 30 days after the transfer of risks. In the event of justified notice of compliant, RGBlink can repair the fault or provide a replacement at its own discretion within an appropriate period. If this measure proves to be impossible or unsuccessful, the purchaser can demand a reduction in the purchase price or cancellation of the contract. All other claims, in particular those relating to compensation for direct or indirect damage, and also damage attributed to the operation of software as well as to other service provided by RGBlink, being a component of the system or independent service, will be deemed invalid provided the damage is not proven to be attributed to the absence of properties guaranteed in writing or due to the intent or gross negligence or part of RGBlink. If the purchaser or a third party carries out modifications or repairs on goods delivered by RGBlink, or if the goods are handled incorrectly, in particular if the systems are commissioned operated incorrectly or if, after the transfer of risks, the goods are subject to influences not agreed upon in the contract, all guarantee claims of the purchaser will be rendered invalid. Not included in the guarantee coverage are system failures which are attributed to programs or special electronic circuitry provided by the purchaser, e.g. interfaces. Normal wear as well as normal maintenance are not subject to the guarantee provided by RGBlink either. 5 Operators Safety Summary The general safety information in this summary is for operating personnel. Do Not Remove Covers or Panels There are no user-serviceable parts within the unit. Removal of the top cover will expose dangerous voltages. To avoid personal injury, do not remove the top cover. Do not operate the unit without the cover installed. Power Source This product is intended to operate from a power source that will not apply more than 230 volts rms between the supply conductors or between both supply conductor and ground. A protective ground connection by way of grounding conductor in the power cord is essential for safe operation. Grounding the Product This product is grounded through the grounding conductor of the power cord. To avoid electrical shock, plug the power cord into a properly wired receptacle before connecting to the product input or output terminals. Use the Proper Power Cord Use only the power cord and connector specified for your product. Use only a power cord that is in good condition. Refer cord and connector changes to qualified service personnel. Use the Proper Fuse To avoid fire hazard, use only the fuse having identical type, voltage rating, and current rating characteristics. Refer fuse replacement to qualified service personnel. Do Not Operate in Explosive Atmospheres To avoid explosion, do not operate this product in an explosive atmosphere. Installation Safety Summary Safety Precautions For all VENUS X3 LIVE processor installation procedures, please observe the following important safety and handling rules to avoid damage to yourself and the equipment. To protect users from electric shock, ensure that the chassis connects to earth via the ground wire provided in the AC power Cord. The AC Socket-outlet should be installed near the equipment and be easily accessible. Unpacking and Inspection VENUS X3 LIVE User Manual 4

6 Before opening VENUS X3 LIVE processor shipping box, inspect it for damage. If you find any damage, notify the shipping carrier immediately for all claims adjustments. As you open the box, compare its contents against the packing slip. If you find any shortages, contact your sales representative. Once you have removed all the components from their packaging and checked that all the listed components are present, visually inspect the system to ensure there was no damage during shipping. If there is damage, notify the shipping carrier immediately for all claims adjustments. Site Preparation The environment in which you install your VENUS X3 LIVE should be clean, properly lit, free from static, and have adequate power, ventilation, and space for all components. 8 Chapter 1: Your Product 1.2 Product Overview VENUS X3 LIVE brings together sophisticated presentation switching with advanced mixing capabilities into a single device. The vision mixer console includes broadcast style features for quick access during any performance, along with dual eight-inch LCD displays to monitor video sources, full preview, as well as live/program display monitoring. At the rear of the VENUS X3 LIVE, the familiar VENUS X3 modular routing platform become apparent, with a host of new options and features tailored to presentation applications. Entirely module, right down to fans, filters, and PSU, VENUS X3 LIVE is fitted as standard with modules for preview and monitoring, communications and Genlock sync. From there, there is an impressive choice of both inputs and output options. The on board displays can be configured to show outputs as physically arranged, or in any way. Large tactical illuminated buttons along with T-Bar mixing control. 9 Chapter 1: Your Product Back Panel Input Option Slots 1 VENUS X3 LIVE provides 3 input option slots, range of inputs are available for user fitting, including DVI, VGA, HDMI, USB, CVBS and USB. DVI-I DVI Each DVI module supports 4 DVI-I inputs. Standard DVI signals can input. The DVI port supports up to HDMI 1.3 if the port format is set to HDMI. HDMI-A HDMI Each HDMI module supports 4 HDMI-A inputs. Standard signal from computer can input. DB15 VGA Each VGA module supports 4 DB15 inputs. Standard VGA signals can input. BNC CVBS Each CVBS module supports 8 BNC inputs. Standard video signal from players, cameras can input. USB-A USB Each USB module supports 4 USB-A inputs.access the USB device or mobile hard disk with USB storage function. Support general image and video formats. BNC 3G-SDI Each SDI module supports 4 SDI inputs and 4 SDI loop out. Standard 3G-SDI signals can input. And can connect to the SDI input of the next VENUS X3 LVE or the device with SDI input. PVW Output 3 4 HDMI-A HDMI Connect to the display device, video processor or matrix. DB15 VGA Connect to the monitor or LED display which has VGA interface. (This connector does not support hotplug). RS-232 Used for cascade and firmware upgrade. 11: LINK IN is serial female port, the serial communication interface of RS-232 control protocol and multiple cascading control. 12: LINK OUT is serial male port, the serial communication interface of multiple devices cascading control, connect devices through DB9 serial cable. BNC-Genlock 5: Genlock input, standard genlock signal can input. 6: Genlock loop out, can connect to the genlock input of the next VENUS X3 LVE or the device with genlock input. SIZE Size adjustment and crop setting. For details, please refer to Scale and Crop. POSTION Joystick Position adjustment button. For details, please refer to Set the Position. DSK Edit Area 6 DSK DSK effect editing button. User can select the layer and set the position in DSK menus. ON ON/OFF button. The button is lit when select ON, and enable the DSK function. Light is off when disable the DSK function. LEVEL Rotary Knob Adjust the alpha of DSK layer. For details, please refer to DSK Setting. BLEND Edit Area 7 BLEND BLEND effect editing button. User can select the layer and set the blending width in BLEND menus. ON ON/OFF button. The button is lit when select ON, and enable the BLEND function. Light is off when disable the BLEND function. LEVEL Rotary Knob Adjust the blend width. For details, please refer to BLEND Setting. Input Sources Area 8 LED Indicator The button 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8 is lit when the signal or background input is selected for use. LOGO For indicating, the button is lit when enable LOGO function. STILL For indicating, the button is lit when enable STILL function. 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8 Each button is numbered and can be used as direct number entry when values such as resolution and size. PST/Aux area For indicating, the button is lit when output the signal in PST channel. For selecting, push any button to switch the PST signal. For editing, (button light is lit -- the channel is used but can not be edited, button light is flashing -- the channel can be edited, button light is off -- the channel is not selected. BLACK Button BK Editing function, the button is lit when enable background function. OSD Editing function, the button is lit when enable OSD function. LOGO Editing function, the button is lit when enable LOGO function. STILL Editing function, the button is lit when enable STILL function. 9 BLACK The button is lit when enable black function. Black is available for PGM channel. AUX Button 10 AUX AUX output setting, it can be custom. Menu Area 11 SYSTEM Menu and exit reuse button. PAGE For save or load, total 6 pages, and 6 banks for each page. 1/2/3/4/5/6 Button The button is lit when select PAGE or BANK. Lock Top Panel Area 13 LOCK Lock top panel button. The button is lit when the buttons in top panel are locked. Push the button again, the button light is off, and unlock the top panel. Transition Time Control Area 14 Double Digital Display Tube Display the transition time. Time Rotary Knob Adjust transition time. The adjustment range is between 0.1S~5S. 19 Chapter 2 Installing Your Product 2.1 Plugging in Signals Connect signals to the product (ensure all devices are powered off first). Tighten connector screws/locks where provided. 2.2 Plugging in Main Power Connect IEC cable to device and plug into wall socket. Turn on power at wall socket. 2.3 Turning on Your Product When yellow light of [POWER] is lit, the device is standby. Push the [POWER] button for seconds, the color will turn to green and the device is starting up. After 10 seconds later, the PVW monitor display the preview signals, as shown in the figure below: VENUS X3 LIVE User Manual 18

21 Chapter 3 Using Your Product 3.1 Using the MENU Button Push the [SYSTEM] button to enter the menu display. Turn the rotary knob to navigate to the menu item required. The option turns to green shows the current item. Push the knob to select and enter into the menu item. As shown in the figure below: VENUS X3 LIVE User Manual 20

23 Chapter 3: Using Your Product 3.3 Using the Menu Use the menu system for convenient and intuitive operation. VENUS X3 LIVE 8 inch HD monitor shows the menu items. The monitor will show the default state when the menu is not in use, or the operation has timed out. Using the SYSTEM button and rotary knob in the top panel, the PGM monitor will show the corresponding menus according to user selections Understanding the Main Menu Push the SYSTEM button in the default state and turn the rotary knob, the PGM monitor will show the main menus as below: There are 9 menu items in the main menu, and display in 2 pages. Turn the rotary knob (or push the [ENTER] button), and select any menu above, push the rotary knob to confirm, the LCD display will show the submenu. If push the [SYSTEM] button, the LCD display will return to the last level menu. VENUS X3 LIVE User Manual 22

DSK Select ON or OFF to enable or disable DSK function Blending Menu Layer Blending Width ON/OFF Select the layer. Set the blending width, the adjustment range is between 1~90. Step 1: Push the T-BAR to the top. Step 2: Choose ON. Step 3: Push the T-BAR to the bottom. Step 4: Choose ON. Enable or disable the LED test function and adjust the key value. 31 Chapter 3: Using Your Product 3.4 PVW Mode VENUS X3 LIVE use the 8 inch HD monitor, and HDMI preview or VGA preview, it supports the functions as below: 1. Select any 8 channels from the 12 channels. 2. Quickly switch between single image preview and eight images preview by pushing [PVW] button. 3. Source name synchronization, and automatically recognition for different input modules. 4. Color indicate for source name, green for preview, yellow for preset and red for program. 32 Chapter 3: Using Your Product 3.5 PST Mode VENUS X3 LIVE use the 8 inch HD preview edit display, and with one HDMI preview output, it supports the functions as below: Signal Selection Push any button in Input Sources Area, for example, push the button [5], the border of signal 5 will change to yellow, and the signal in PGM monitor will be changed to signal Add or Delete Layer Push any button of [1] to [4] in Layer/Aux Area to add or delete the layer. Add layer: The light is lit. Select layer: The light is flashing. Delete layer: The light is off Freeze the Layer Push the [FREEZE] button in Layer/Aux Area, the layer will be freeze, push the button again, the layer is live Multiview Presets 1. Push any button in Multiview Presets Area to select multiview layouts, including 1P, PIP CENT, SIDE BY SIDE, 3P, 4P and 5P. 2. Push the [CONTROL] button in Position, Size and Control Area to select the layer, each layer can select different signal. 3. User can adjust the position, size, crop for the selected layer, and set DSK, BLEND and MASK Set the Position 1. Push the [CONTROL] button in Position, Size and Control Area to select the layer, the border of the selected layer will change to green. 2. Swing the [POSITION] joystick in Position, Size and Control Area to adjust the position of the layer. When swing the joystick to the left or right, the horizontal position will be changed. 33 Chapter 3: Using Your Product Scale and Crop Push the [SIZE] button in Position, Size and Control Area, and enter to the interface as follows: Scale H Pos: Adjust the horizontal position. Scale V Pos: Adjust the vertical position. Scale H Size: Adjust the horizontal size. Scale V Size: Adjust the vertical size. Scale Reset: Reset scale if image quality distorts by improper operation. Zoom From Center: Zoom the width and height in equal proportion. Crop H Pos: Crop the horizontal position. Crop V Pos: Crop the vertical position. Crop H Size: Crop the horizontal size. Crop V Size: Crop the vertical size. Crop Reset: Reset crop if image quality distorts by improper operation. Exit: Exit the scale and crop function DSK Setting 1. Firstly, enable the multiview function. 2. Push [SYSTEM] button, and enter to the menu items. Turn the rotary knob, and select <DSK>, VENUS X3 LIVE User Manual 32

Preset: Can select user, black background, green background, blue background, red background and white background. Alpha: The adjustment range is between 0~128. Red Min: The adjustment range is between 0~255. Red max: The adjustment range is between 0~255. Green Min: The adjustment range is between 0~255. Green Max: The adjustment range is between 0~255. Blue Min: The adjustment range is between 0~255. Blue Max: The adjustment range is between 0~255. DSK: Can select enable or disable the DSK function BLEND Setting 1. Firstly, enable the multiview function. 2. Push the [SYSTEM] button, and enter to the menu items. Turn the rotary knob, and select <Blending>, push the knob to confirm. ON/OFF: Can select enable or disable the blending function Mask Setting 1. Push the [SYSTEM] button, and enter to the menu items. 2. Turn the rotary knob, and select <Mask>, push the knob to confirm: Enable the mask function: Turn the rotary knob, select <ON/OFF>, and set ON to enable the mask function. Turn the rotary knob, and select the effects, diamond, round, heart, star, triangle, oval, hexagons, pentagon, 4 point star, 6 point star, lighting, crescent left and crescent right. Mask setting: VENUS X3 LIVE support load file from UDisk, and set the selected layer, including effect & PIC Pos X, Y, effect X, Y, PIC Pos X, Y WIPE Setting 1. Push the WIPE buttons in WIPE Operation Area, VENUS X3 LIVE supports 14 kinds of wipe modes: Push the wipe button L M R, and T M B., there are 6 kinds of mode:,, +, +, Push the wipe button can select O mode. Push the wipe button, there are 2 kinds of mode: R L, L R. Push the wipe button, there are 3 kinds of mode: T B, B T, LT RB. Push the wipe button, can select III. Push the wipe button, can select fade mode. 2. 71 Chapter 6: Appendix 6.3 Using the Tool VENUS X3 LIVE equips the X3 LIVE TOOL, which is for OSD Set, Effect Change, Logo and STILL setting. The files can be saved to the USB disk, and be loaded when custom the OSD, MASK, LOGO and STILL. Double click the icon, and enter to the interface as follows: Set the OSD OSD ON/OFF: Enable or disable the OSD function. Set the size and position: Adjust the size and position of OSD by changing the value of X, Y, width and height. Set the font: Set the font, font type, strike out or under line. Font transparent: Enable or disable the font transparent function, and set the font color. BackGround transparent: Enable or disable the background transparent function, and set the background color. Input Info: Input the information that will display. Roll Speed: Set the roll speed, the adjustment range is between 1~16. Roll type: Select left roll or right roll. Take VENUS X3 for example, the specific installation steps are as follows: Install the Optional Module 1. Unscrew the 2 captive screws in input modules block, and pull out the input module block, as shown in figure: Captive Screw 2. Install the input module: For the whole PCB input module with DVI or HDMI interface, fix the input module on the plate with 2 M3*4 flat screws, also need to install the 2G Micro SD card.
