Using the Monitor Displays in the E175 Active Learning Classroom Using the monitor displays in E175 to enhance your teaching and student learning in the Active Learning Classroom When developing your lessons and activities in the Active Learning Space in E175, there are four (4) different options for presentations using the three unit displays: Wireless Presentation to All Displays Wireless Presentation to Individual Displays Wired Presentation to All Displays (recommended when using video/audio) Wired Presentation to Individual Display for Group Collaboration Option 1.Wireless Presentation to All Monitors ****Necessary WiFi Connection: For an all-wireless presentation to the three monitors, there is a specific WiFi network that needs to be added to your wireless connections. Please contact LTC@uwm.edu for the password to access to this network. *Anyone who wants to push out their laptop information to a display needs to be connected to this specific WiFi network****. Turn on the power for all display monitors by using the remote control attached to the back of each display. All three displays should be set to INPUT 2 (HDMI 2), where each screen will give information on how to begin an Air Media presentation. Type in the IP Address listed at the top of the screen on the farthest monitor display from the door
You will be prompted to download a free app for your operating system, Windows or Mac. Make sure you save the application to your desktop. Note that if you are plan to use the AirMedia regularly, we recommend installing the AirMedia deployable application, which can be found at the following website address: For mobile devices (tablets and smart phones), please download the Crestron AirMedia app for ios or Android devices. For ios, use the OS X Installer (.pkg file). Double click on the AirMedia application to launch it. You will be prompted to enter a four-digit code, which is listed on the top right of the display monitor (e.g., 5382). A new code may be issued each time you log on to the AirMedia. Click [Connect]. Your computer screen will now show on all monitor displays. When your session is complete, click [Stop] to end the session. When you are finished using the monitor displays. Please make sure to turn them off using the control located behind each monitor display. You will see a small red light at the bottom of the display when the display has been turned off. Once you have initially downloaded the AirMedia application, you may double-click the application on your computer, select the appropriate IP address, and enter the code to reconnect to the display monitors during your next visit to the classroom. Option 2. Wireless Presentation to Individual Monitor Displays for Group Collaboration For all wireless presentations, there is a specific WiFi
network necessary in order to access the monitor displays in the classroom. Please contact the for information and passwords to access to this network. 1. Turn the power on for all monitor displays using the remote control attached to the back of each display. 2. By default, the displays should be set to INPUT 2 (HDMI 2), where you will see information on how to begin an Air Media presentation. Make sure to leave the primary instructor display at the back side of the room (North East corner) on Input 2 (HDMI 2) Change the other two displays to INPUT 3 (HDMI 3) by using the Input button on the remote control. Type in the website IP Address listed at the top of the screen you would like to display your content and connect to. You will be prompted to download the free Air Media app for Windows or Mac. Save the application to your desktop. If you are using the AirMedia regularly, we recommend installing the AirMedia deployable application, which can be found at the following website: For mobile devices (tablets and smart phones), please download the Crestron AirMedia app for ios or Android devices. 3. Double click the AirMedia application to launch it. 4. You will be prompted to enter a four-digit code (e.g. 5384), which is listed on the top right of the specific monitor display screen you would like to push out information to. Remember, a new code will be issued each time you connect to the AirMedia. 5. Click [Connect]. 6. The content of a specific computer screen will now show on the specific display. 7. When your session is complete, click [Stop] to end the session.
8. Make sure you turn the power off to all monitor displays using the remote found behind each display. You will see a small red light at the bottom of the display when the display has been turned off. Once you have downloaded the AirMedia application, you may double-click the application, select the appropriate IP, and enter the new code to reconnect upon your next visit to the classroom. Option 3. Wired Presentation to All Displays Wired connection is the recommended method when planning to share video or audio content Turn on all displays using the remote control attached to the back of each display. The displays should be set to INPUT 2 (HDMI 2). Above the upper-left corner of the display at the back of the room (North East side of room), unplug the cable from the silver box. Locate the HDMI cable (and, if necessary, an adapter) from the portable white colored instructor station in the classroom. Plug one end of the HDMI cable into the laptop and one end of the HDMI cable into the silver box. The image/video/audio from the laptop should automatically display on all three monitor displays. When finished with the presentation, remember to: Unplug the HDMI cable (and adapter) and put them away in the portable white colored instructor station. Plug the original cable hanging from the display back into the silver box. Turn off all monitor displays. You will see a small red light at the bottom of the display when the display has been turned off.
Option 4. Wired Presentation to Individual Display for Group Collaboration **In case the WiFi or Air Media are not working in the classroom, this is a backup method for having groups collaborate at each of the three monitor displays**. Below each monitor display, there are display inputs on the lower right or left, which will allow you to connect using a VGA or HDMI source. There are several adapters (if necessary) available in the portable white colored instructor station. Turn on all monitor displays using the remote control attached to the back of each display By default, the displays should be set to INPUT 2 (HDMI 2). Using the remote control, select [Input] and change the input to either PC IN (for VGA) or HDMI 1, depending on the source. Locate the VGA or HDMI cable (and, if necessary, an adapter) from the portable instructor station in the room. Plug one end of the cable into the laptop and one end into the display input below the display located on the right or left. The image from the laptop should automatically be seen on all three screens. When finished, please remember to: Unplug the VGA or HDMI cable (and adapter) and put them away in the portable instructor station. Plug the original cable from the farthest monitor display back into the silver box. Turn off all monitor displays. Slow Wireless Connection? If wireless internet connection is slow using the specific WiFi connection, there are two hard-wired ethernet ports
available near each display. An ethernet cable is available in the portable white colored instructor station for this purpose. Air Media will not work using a wired connection at the walls. Questions? Need Assistance? If you need assistance while using this room during CETL business hours, please visit E177 during regular business hours, Monday Friday: 8:30 a.m. 4:30 p.m. If you need assistance using the technology in this room after CETL business hours, please contact Classroom Support Services at If you need assistance using Air Media please call their technical support directly at: CRESTRON ( ) Option
