2 1. DESCRIPTION Kvant Spectrum is professional laser system with wide range of use, mainly for laser show, entertainment and advertisement. Kvant Spectrum laser projector is possible to control with following controlling modes: - Controlling with any ILDA compatible software connected via ILDA signal input - Controlling with installed software Moncha connected with laser system s build in Moncha controller (optional) via ethernet cable connection - DMX controlling of build in controller (optional) that contains at its SD memory card various preprogrammed shows, patterns and animations (up to 32GB) - Stand-alone operation (optional), playback of selected show/pattern/animation Spectrum laser system has several internal protections including scan fail safety system, multiple interlock system. Spectrum laser system is manufactured with IP 44 housing (expect rear panel) that can be used also for temporary outdoor installations (outdoor concerts or events). It is not suitable for permanent outdoor installation. In that case the system has to be installed into additional housing to protect the laser system. The additional housing is available on request. IMPORTANT: It is necessary to read and understand entire Owner s manual before you start the laser system. WARNING: The Kvant Spectrum laser system is a LASER PRODUCT CLASS IV. It can be operated only by qualified personnel by regulatory body or authorized training organization. If the laser is operated in a situation where health or property injury may occur, operation MUST be stopped immediately! Manufacturer and distributors are not responsible for any damages caused by use of Kvant Spectrum laser. User is responsible for applying conditions of use according to regulations stipulated in EN :2007 and all locally applicable safety laws and regulations.

3. ALIGNMENT OF BEAMS (COLOURS) Misalignment of RGB beams can occur after shaking or shock of the laser device especially after transportation with no sufficient anti-vibration protection.

5 3. ALIGNMENT OF BEAMS (COLOURS) Misalignment of RGB beams can occur after shaking or shock of the laser device especially after transportation with no sufficient anti-vibration protection. In that case you should perform adjustments of the beams using following guide. WARNING: Alignment process should be carried out wearing sufficient safety wear due to possible exposure to Class 4 laser radiation. Apply all safety rules described in paragraph 1.2 of this owner s manual 1. Carefully open the top optical section 2. Switch the laser system ON. Disable interlock cover switches by turning the spare magnets onto switches 3. Create a white point at center position in your software / laser controller. (You can create the white point by using the RGB Test Switch (pict.b,20) or built in controller s menu Display test. 4. Using the Brightness Adjustment knobs (pict.b,13), turn down all the colours except one that is furthest from the scanners and goes to scanners via only one reflection. In case of a dual RED- BLUE combined module leave only the red colour on. Picture C Beam alignment model

5. Carefully use knobs 1 & 2 (Pict.E) on Thorlabs kinematic mount (pict.c,3) to target the reflected beam into the centre of X axis scanner mirror (to the center of its reflective area).

6 5. Carefully use knobs 1 & 2 (Pict.E) on Thorlabs kinematic mount (pict.c,3) to target the reflected beam into the centre of X axis scanner mirror (to the center of its reflective area). It is visible on pict.d as red spot. 6. Slowly adjust the brightness of green colour (using the Brightness Adjustment knobs) so it is visible. Picture D - Scanner mount Picture E - Thorlabs kinematic mount 7. Line up green colour with previously adjusted colour using the Thorlabs kinematic mount (PictC,4). This time do not focus on the scanner mirror center, but look at the wall (or wherever the laser terminates) and do the alignment according to what you see there. We recommend that the alignment distance is at least 15m from the system). Greater the distance=more precise adjustment! (If you do this on very long distances, it is good idea to have some sort of binoculars for referencing). 8. Once you have lined up all the colours into one spot, there s one more step to do for even more precise alignment. 9. Draw a white, full size circle (if possible) using your laser software or controller. If the circle is nicely balanced and all the colours overlay each other, alignment was successful! If not, then please go to step Turn down all the colours using the Brightness Adjustment knobs, except one that is furthest from the scanners (the one you have started with) - in this case. 11. Slowly start increasing the brightness of the next colour (laser module) in line and if necessary, finalize the alignment using the Thorlabs mount for green colour. This way you should be able to finalize the alignment so all the colours overlay each other = alignment was successful! Sometimes, especially with high-power laser systems, it is easier to do the colour alignment using only fractions of powers of all the colours (the brightness of each colour is just above the threshold of visibility) or on long distances. That is simply because the intensity of the light coming out of those highpower laser systems can be confusing for human eyes - especially in dark (due to high contrast ratio). IMPORTANT: Please note, that the size of 445nm blue beam spot appears to be LOT thicker to human eye than it actually is (especially on distances greater then 10 meters) because of optical diffraction on human eye cornea. Therefore it is quite handy to have someone standing right by the surface (of course with all eye protective items) where the projection during the alignment happens, so you can be navigated precisely.
