2 True Colours Industries About Us After nearly 10 years of planning and research True Colours Industries was finally formed in Lisburn, UK in Two established and knowledgeable Hi-Fi professionals, John Payne and Andrew Stacey, had grown tired of a market dominated by imported cables, bright on colours and with outlandish marketing claims, but too often leaving the customer short-changed in terms of quality and performance. Both were passionate in their beliefs and had long-standing experience of the industry at both professional and retail level. They understood exactly what was required of a cable and therefore set about starting the company with one purpose - to produce cables of advanced technical merit and performance but at pricing that gave genuine value for money to their customers. After the introduction of its first speaker cable and interconnect designs in 1997, the company quickly gained critical acclaim in the independent Hi-Fi press and a series of accolades and awards soon followed. Whilst the range of designs has expanded and as success has followed the company, its ethos still remain the same today, to continue to deliver cables true to its original aims. Our Philosophy Music without Compromise is, in simple terms, our mission. Whilst audio and video standards are changing, as is the format of their delivery, one thing, remains unchanged. Too many cables still compromises quality in replaying music and images. Our well-rooted and simple philosophy is to minimise the compromises between your systems components allowing you to experience music and images as they were intended by their author. Whether it is the emotion of music or breathtaking imagery our aim is clear, to let you enjoy and be totally immersed in its performance and not just left as an uninvolved bystander. Our cables have been designed NOT to be system dependent and we believe in using scientific design principles and technological advances that allow our cables to be as accurate, transparent and neutral as possible between your systems components. Technology Technology is at the forefront of our design process but not simply for its own sake or without purpose. Today there is a whole array of cable manufacturers who seem to make wild and often wholly unsubstantiated claims for impressive sounding new technology. At True Colours Industries we don t follow this path. Only when a technological advance demonstrates a real tangible benefit during our research and testing will we finally introduce it in our designs. 2

3 We prefer to rely on a trusted combination of advanced test and research paired with old fashioned but reliable audience testing. At True Colours Industries by using the critical link between technical measurement and subjective listening, we are able to fine tune - giving our designs the critical edge in terms of their performance. Many companies unfortunately rely on off the shelf cheaply sourced poor quality designs. You can be sure that with True Colours Industries this couldn t be further from the truth. All our design and research is conducted and undertaken in the UK and the vast majority of material sourcing and manufacturing takes place here in the UK via a number of the very best accredited ISO 9001:2000 registered suppliers. We are proud to cooperate and rely on the advances offered by a key number of UK aerospace companies and True Colours Industries uses a number of these advanced aerospace graded materials and technologies in the design and manufacture of our cables under license. As a result of the careful and measured selection of materials used in our designs our cables benefit from a number of significant advantages. Aerospace grade silver plated copper alloys used in our conductors allow us to achieve the best sonic properties of pure silver without the cost and other associated problems of OFC copper based designs including overblown bass, poor high frequency resolution and coloration. Highest quality aerospace grade insulators including PTFE, FEP, Kapton and Superthane are incorporated in our designs providing ultra low dielectric control and ensuring clearer high-resolution sound and images. Finally, in order to achieve the very best critical connection between our cables and your components we use only the finest connectors available in the market today, many of them designed in house and made to our exacting design. We rarely rely on off the shelf designs, but where we do, we source from quality manufacturers including WBT & Neutrik to get the very best performance for price ratio. 3

4 Quality & Value When it comes to quality and value our aim is clear - to provide you with cables to deliver the best correlation between performance and price. Each and every cable that True Colours Industries manufactures has to meet this set criteria and it is then that our dedicated team really go to work. Each cable is hand constructed and terminated including outer jackets and sheaths, braids and heat shrinks and finally hand-applied lead free silver solder. Such a level of hand finishing takes time and skill but ensures we remain consistent and deliver the best finish to our cables. Our staff are rightly proud of their work and the experience and quality they bring to our products. So after performing a final testing procedure on every cable before leaving the factory, they sign and date their work as testament to their craftsmanship and our warranty of their quality. Customer Service Customer service is important to us and as it is the direct link with our customers and their experiences we take it very seriously. Whether by , telephone or via one of retailers/distributors we will try to offer you the best possible advice with regards to matching our cables with one of the many different Hi-Fi and AV products and systems available. Due to the nature of our manufacturing being almost entirely in-house we are able to react quickly and meet our customers needs. Our cables are available in pre-terminated lengths or to custom requirement. If you require lengths and/or terminations not listed in our current range please ask us or your nearest retailer. We will do our best to meet your needs. All True Colours Industries products carry a limited 3-year warranty for the original purchaser. The warranty covers the product against manufacturing defects, but excludes user or accidental damage, misuse or any other type of abuse. Results Whilst we are proud to have achieved critical acclaim and awards, this alone is not what has got us to where we are today. We strongly believe that the best result we can achieve is for someone to experience the difference our products can make to their system and its components. Consumer experience is paramount and we recommend you to try and experience the results our cables can bring for yourself. 5 TCI Tiger II TCI Tiger II is our entry level interconnect and designed to lift the performance of your system for a relatively modest outlay. It was developed on the success of its award winning brother TCI Tiger. It features a twisted pair of silver plated LC-OFC conductors with polyethylene insulation and terminated with cast hard gold plated RCA plugs. The result is that the TCI Viper transmits even more detail, increased dynamics and improved imaging. 6 TCI Viper SE TCI Viper SE utilises the same cable construction as its sibling TCI Viper, but with the added benefit of being fitted with high quality gold plated locking RCA plugs which provide a closer, more reliable connection further enhancing the performance. Improvements in bass extension, space, imaging, low-level detail as well as micro and macro dynamics are all easily heard. 10 TCI Speaker Cables Construction and Design By using advanced materials and construction techniques True Colours Industries cables tread the delicate path of cable design to give the best balance of performance and versatility. True Colours Industries speaker cables are made slightly stiffer than many competitors to ensure that energy is not lost to the surroundings caused by micro movement due to an electric current flowing in the Earth s magnetic field. We also use advanced insulators as they have far less effect on the complex electrical signal and so help to maintain dynamics and neutral sound. Some of the highest purity metals are used in all stages in our design process. Even when using the copper alloys found in some of our models, these alloys are in fact made using pure metals, to ensure large grain structure. The result is a much more balanced frequency response with less audio glare at the treble end of the frequency range and deeper and tighter bass extension. Stranding - All True Colours Industries speaker cables feature stranding that falls between 0.2 and 0.45mm diameter to ensure that audio frequencies are accurately and correctly reproduced, without encouraging unwanted interference and audio glare from RFI. Most True Colours Industries cables are silver-plated and use either LC-OFC or a copper alloy as a main conductor material. Insulation Insulation has a huge effect on the sound of a speaker cable. Most manufacturers are content to use PVC as insulation as it is freely available cheaper material being easy to work with as well as looking visually attractive. At True Colours Industries however we use more discerning and costly materials that have been originally developed for use in the aerospace industry, where performance rather than cost is the over riding factor. Aerospace grade insulations are favoured as they have much less influence on the sound of a cable, ensuring better audio timing, rhythm and neutrality. They are also more stable, meaning that the performance is consistent over time, rather than degrading after some months usage. Metals Conductors are of course by their design and use at the very centre of signal quality and delivery in a speaker cable. They are the very critical core of the sounds you hear and we use a variety of metals in our cables ranging from copper, through the use of silver-plated copper to the much rarer use of silver plated copper alloys to achieve the best results. Again sourced via aerospace industry suppliers, silver plated copper alloys tend to be stronger, longer lasting and from an audio point of view, more neutral when combined with silver plating. We pride ourselves on the neutral True Colours Industries sound associated with all our speaker cables. 14 TCI King Cobra Bi-Wire TCI King Cobra Bi-Wire uses two lengths of TCI King Cobra in an external polyester braid to provide a reference grade cable with none of the usual design compromises found in bi-wire cables. It ensures the same natural, open, dynamic and detailed quality of sound with the added advantage of a bi-wire connection for bi-wirable speakers % SP-special copper alloy high performance loudspeaker cable - Two silver plated oxygen free special copper alloy conductors of 37/0.3mm - Sheathed in PTFE Kapton tape primary insulation - Twin stereo construction bi-wire configuration - Screened conductors to reduce RF and EM interference - 9mm diameter round profile TCI Hollow Speaker Plugs TCI Hollow Speaker plugs are used on all of our speaker cables, they are manufactured from gold-plated beryllium copper alloy and whilst this material is relatively expensive, we feel that it is an extremely worthwhile investment. Beryllium Copper is an excellent electrical conductor, but does not suffer from corrosion in the same way as standard copper. It is also much harder, making it a more suitable material to manufacture plugs from. In comparison to brass, the material nearly all plugs are made from, it has over twice the level of electrical conductivity and is more resistive to corrosion and fatigue. Because of its elasticity it can be successfully used with BFA and 4mm speaker terminals, fitting over one or inside the other respectively. Gold-plating ensures low contact resistance, enhances its own electrical conductivity and ensures excellent solder joints. Its low mass design means, unlike most plugs, they do not add their own sonic signature to your system and when used with lead free silver solder they make the ideal connection for speaker cables! 14

15 TCI Mains Power Leads All TCI Mains Power leads are designed, manufactured and tested in the UK. With the careful application of tried and tested construction techniques combined with quality high-performance aerospace grade materials, our Mains Power leads consistently deliver clearer and cleaner power to the very heart of your system. RFI Rejecting Our Mains Power leads are designed to incorporate RFI rejection, meaning they do not pick up unwanted additional RFI onto the cable itself. This is desirable as unwanted RFI interference distorts the signal that is transferred into your system. RFI Filtering Most mains leads use electronic components to filter RFI - the result being that they often cause more audible problems than they actually solve. TCI Mains Power leads only use advanced design and construction techniques for RFI filtering and do not carry electronic components. The result is maximum RFI filtering with minimal signal distortion. Low Inductance Many mains leads suffer from high inductance as they often have inductors in their electronic filters. The result is compressed dynamics, reduced bass weight and extension and constriction of the sound stage. TCI Mains Power leads however, due to their design and construction, have very low inductance and deliver a clearer signal. Low impedance TCI Mains Power leads have low impedance and low resistance ensuring excellent macro and micro dynamic range and impact as well as allowing rapid transience and maximum musical speed and pace. The result is to reveal something as close as possible to a live performance from your audio system. 16 TCI Baby Constrictor Our entry level RFI filtering mains cable features 8 cores of PTFE insulated silverplated copper to act as a natural filter to eliminate unwanted mains noise. With 1x 2.5mm PVC insulated copper earth wire to ensure excellent grounding, TCI Baby Constrictor is capable of carrying more than 30 amps at 500 volts RMS, making it virtually transparent to the all important power supply. Sonic improvements include more detail, bigger soundstage, improved dynamics and a deeper bass. 17 TCI Super Constrictor TCI Super Constrictor features 16 cores of PTFE insulated silver-plated copper and one 2.5mm PVC insulated copper earth wire. The conductors are PTFE insulated in a braided configuration and sleeved in halogen-free polyolefin insulation being finally wrapped with tough but flexible polyester braid. It is constructed of flame-retardant materials making it ideal for permanent installation. It is capable of carrying more than 50 Amps at 500 volts RMS and features twice the RFI filtering of a TCI Constrictor. It has a thicker cross-sectional area and a larger amount of silver ensuring it has a lower noise floor.
