3 Introduction The WJ-HDB502 Network Board is an option for installation into the WJ-HD500 Digital Disk Recorder. The board enables the disk recorder to be accessed from a personal computer through a 10/100Base-T Ethernet. Browsing live and recorded images, and the relevant operations are available via remote input on the computer thanks to the adapted Internet protocols. Computer Requirements The personal computer must have the following minimum requirements to set up the board. OS: One of the following Operating Systems: Windows95/ Windows98/ WindowsNT Browser: Netscape Communicator 4.04 or later Internet Explorer 4.01 SP or later Display: 800 x 600 pixels or more Trademarks Adobe and Acrobat Reader are trademarks of Adobe Systems Incorporated. Connection The described below are examples of system connections. <Basic Connection> The figure below shows how the WJ-HD500 with the Network Board can be connected directly to a PC. The connection can also be made via Hub. 5 Network Setup of the WJ-HD500 After the WJ-HDB502 Network Board is installed in the WJ- HD500 Digital Disk Recorder, confirm that the communication parameters are set correctly in the WJ-HD500 SETUP menu of the Disk Recorder. (2) Double-click Network. (3) In the Network dialog box, click the Configuration tab. Open the COMMUNICATION SETUP menu in the WJ- HD500 SETUP menu, then set the IP Address, Netmask and Gateway specified. Refer to the Operating Instructions included in the WJ- HD500 for further details. 8 COMMUNICATION SETUP PS Data SETUP RS232C SETUP NETWORK SETUP IP ADDRESS NETMASK GATEWAY (4) Choose TCP/IP, and then click the [Properties] button to display the TCP/IP Properties dialog box. Note: When the Disk Recorder with the Network board is connected alone to a PC as Basic Connection, these settings are not required and use the factory default setting. PC Setup The following procedures are only required setup when the WJ-HD500 with the Network Board is connected alone to a PC as Basic Connection. The factory default settings of the WJ-HDB502 are as follows: IP address: Netmask: Gateway: For a client PC to access WJ-HDB502 factory default settings, set the IP address of the PC to ( means any number from 2 to 254 except 10). q Power up the client PC. w Change the PC s TCP/IP to match the factory default settings of the WJ-HD500. If your PC's OS is Windows95 or Windows98, proceed as follows: (5) Specify an IP Address and Subnet Mask as follows: IP Address: Subnet Mask: e Restart the PC to execute the setting. r Start the WWW browser, and select [Do not use proxy for address ]. If your browser is Netscape Communicator, proceed as follows: (1) Click the Edit menu, and then click Preferences. (1) Click the [Start] button, point to settings, and then click Control Panel. 5

6 (2) In the Preferences dialog box, click Advanced, and then click Proxies. Main Page and Control Window Start the WWW browser of your PC, in the URL (Uniform Resource Locators), type (or IP Address set for WJ-HD500) /. The browser displays the MAIN CONTROL PANEL of the WJ-HDB502 s homepage shown in the figure. Note: Specify http//: /, when a client PC is connected alone. Specify http//: (IP address previously set for the WJ- HD500)/ such as LAN connection. (3) Select the Manual proxy configuration option, and then click the [View] button to display the Manual Proxy Configuration dialog box. (4) In the space [Do not use proxy servers for domains beginning with:], specify

8 WJ-HDB502 BOARD SETUP The described below are setup the WJ-HDB502 Network Board. 3. On the NETWORK SETUP window, clicking the displays shown below will display the following setup window on the display. VIDEO MODE: Specifies the image quality and sequence for live video. ALARM: Specifies the mail address for alarm notices function. USER: Specifies users and access levels. HOST: Specifies hosts and access levels. PS.Data: Specifies communication parameters for using PS.Data mode. 4. To return to the previous MAIN CONTROL PANEL, click the [MAIN MENU] button on the window. 1. On the MAIN CONTROL PANEL, click the [HDB502 MENU] button. The dialog box as shown in the figure will appear on the display screen. Network Setup 2. Enter your user name and password in the dialog box. The default user name and password are admin and nil (not required), respectively. The NETWORK SETUP window shown in the figure will appear on the display screen. Note: When the access is made from the PC that is previously registered host with the host authorization, the NETWORK SETUP window will automatically appear on the display. The items in the window let you set the communication parameters of the WJ-HDB502 Network Board. Changing the parameters will renew the NETWORK SETUP (IP Address, Netmask and Gateway) in the COM- MUNICATION SETUP menu of the WJ-HD500 SETUP menu. Note: The network setup of the board is automatically set up from the WJ-HD500 Disk recorder when the board is installed in the Disk Recorder. Therefore, if no setup changes are needed in the window, the described setup procedures are not required. 1. Enter the IP Address to be used. The factory default setting is Enter the netmask to be used. The factory default setting is Enter the default gateway to be used. The factory default setting is

9 4. Enter the host name. Up to 8 alphanumeric characters can be set for the name. The factory default setting is HDB Select the communication speed by clicking the pulldown list. AUTO, 100Mbps(FULL DUPLEX), 100Mbps(HALF DUPLEX) and 10Mbps can be selected from the list. The factory default setting is AUTO. 6. Click the [SET&REBOOT] button to execute the settings and renews the settings of the WJ-HD500 Disk Recorder. Video Mode Setup Clicking the [VIDEO MODE] button in the window, the VIDEO MODE SETUP window shown in the figure appears on the display screen. The items in the window let you set the image quality and display mode for live video on the display. 3. Select an image quality for the images on the display by clicking the pulldown list. SUPER FINE FINE QUAL NORMAL QUAL EX The factory default setting is SUPER FINE. 4. Select a bandwidth (transmission speed) from the board to the network by clicking from the pulldown list. UNLIMITED 32kbps 64kbps 128kbps 1024bps 512kbps 256kbps The factory default setting is UNLIMITED. 5. Click the [SET&REBOOT] button to execute the settings. Sequence Mode Setup A series of live images can be displayed in succession on the display for the specified duration. The items let you set the display mode on the Computer Display. 1. Select either ON or OFF to enable or disable the sequence mode by clicking the button. The factory default setting is OFF. 2. Enter the dwell time to be specified in the box. Dwell Time can be set to a value between 1 and 30 seconds in increments of 1 second. The factory default setting is 1 SEC. 3. Select either ON or OFF to enable or disable display for the inputs on the display screen in sequence by clicking the buttons in the table. The factory default settings are OFF. Video Mode Setup The items let you set the image quality displayed on the Computer Display. 4. Click the [SET&REBOOT] button to execute the settings. 1. Select an update speed for images on the display by clicking the pulldown list. The factory default setting is Middle. Fast Middle Slow Very Slow 2. Select a pixel number (resolution) for images on the display by clicking the pulldown list. FRAME: FIELD: 1/4FRAME: High resolution (720 x 480) image Normal resolution (720 x 240) image Lower resolution (360 x 240) image The factory default setting is FIELD. 9

10 Alarm Notice Setup Clicking the [ALARM] button in the window, the ALARM SETUP window shown in the figure will appear on the display screen. The Disk Recorder is equipped the alarm notice function that is automatically transmitted the notice to the specified mail address in the network when the alarm is activated. The items in the window let you set the alarm notice function. 2. To delete the destination from the list. q Select a mail address by clicking the pulldown list. w Click the [DELETE] button to execute the deletion from the list. User Setup Clicking the [USER] button in the window, the USER SETUP window shown in the figure will appear on the display screen. The items in the window let you determine to enable or disable user authorization and register or delete users that can be accessed to the homepage. Up to eight users can be registered in the system. User Authorization Alarm Notice Setup 1. Select either USE or NOT USE to enable or disable the alarm notice function by clicking the button. 2. Specify the address of the mail server in the network that the Disk Recorder is connected Enter the name of a sender in the box. Up to 8 alphanumeric characters can be set for the name The alarm notice ( ) is sent in the name specified here. 4. Select either ON or OFF to enable or disable an attachment (attached file) of the by clicking the button. The alarmed images can be attached in the attachment of the when the mode is set to ON. 5. Click the [SET] button to execute the selections. Registration and Deletion Up to 4 mail addresses can be registered for the alarm notice. To register or delete a mail address, follow the procedure shown below. 1. Specify the mail addresses (destination) to notify the activated alarm. q Enter a mail address to notify the alarm. w Click the [SET] button to register the entered address. e To register other destination, repeat the procedure q and w. 1. Select either USE or NOT USE to enable or disable user authorization. The factory default setting is NOT USE. 2. Click the [SET] button to execute the selection. User Registration To register users, follow the procedure shown below. 1. Specify the users. q Enter a user name in the box w Enter a password for the user. e Select an access level for the user by clicking the button. The access level is defined as shown below. Refer to Access Authorization for further details. 1(ADMIN): Enables all controls and setup 2(PLAY): Enables monitoring live images and playing back the recorded images. 3(USER): Enables only monitoring live images. 2. Click the [SET] button to register the user. 3. Repeat the above steps 1 and 2 to register the other users.

11 User Deletion To delete a registered user, follow the procedure shown below. 1. Select a user name by clicking the pulldown list. 2. Click the [DELETE] button to execute the deletion. Host Setup Clicking the [HOST] button in the window, the HOST SETUP window shown in the figure appears on the display screen. The items in the window let you determine to enable or disable host authorization and register or delete hosts (PCs) that can be accessed to the homepage. Up to eight hosts can be registered in the system. Host Authorization Note: If the access levels is exclusively set to user authorization, select NOT USE to disable host authorization by clicking the button then proceed to set the User Setup. 1(ADMIN): Enables all controls and setup 2(PLAY): Enables monitoring live images and playing back the recorded images. 3(USER): Enables only monitoring live images. 2. Click the [SET] button to register the host. 3. Repeat the above steps 1 and 2 to register the other hosts. Host Deletion To delete a registered host, follow the procedure shown below. 1. Select a host address by clicking the pulldown list. 2. Click the [DELETE] button to execute the deletion. PS.Data Setup Clicking the [PS.Data] button in the window, the PS.Data SETUP window shown in the figure will appear on the display screen. The items in the window let you set the parameters for communication when the system is controlled with the PS.Data (Panasonic Security Data) mode. 1. Select either USE or NOT USE to enable or disable host authorization. The factory default setting is NOT USE. 2 Click the [SET] button to execute the selection. Host Registration To register hosts, follow the procedure shown below. 1. Specify the host (PC). q Enter a IP address of the host (PC) in the box w Select an access level for the host by clicking the button. The access level is defined as shown below. Refer to Access Authorization for further details. 1. Enter a unit address ( ) of the board for RS-485 communication in the box. The factory default setting is Enter a group address (00A - 00Z) of the board for RS- 485 communication in the box The factory default setting is 00A. 3. Select a transmission speed for RS-485 communication by clicking the pulldown list. 2400bps 4800bps 9600bps 38400bps 19200bps The factory default setting is bps. 11

12 4. Select either 1 or 2 for the number of stop bits for RS- 485 communication by clicking the button. The factory default setting is 1 bit. 5. Select NONE, EVEN or ODD for parity bit for RS-485 communication by clicking the button. The factory default setting is NONE. 6. Select one of the waiting time in milli-seconds (ms) to retry for RS-485 communication by clicking the pulldown list. OFF The factory default setting is OFF (no retry). 7. Click the [SET] button to execute the selections. 8. To return to the previous NETWORK window, click the NETWORK display in the underneath of the window. 12

14 WJ-HD500 SETUP When the WJ-HDB502 Network Board is installed in the WJ- HD500 Disk Recorder, it is enabled setup the WJ-HD500 SETUP menu from the PC in the network On the MAIN CONTROL PANEL window, clicking the [HDB500 MENU] button will display the user ID and password dialog box. Enter your user ID and password in the dialog box. The WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window shown in the figure will appear on the display. Note: When the access is made from the PC that is previously registered host with the host authorization, the WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window will automatically appear on the display. If the registration is not completed yet, enter the default user name and password as shown below. Timer Setting The timer recording mode is triggered by the internal or an external timer. This item lets you enable or disable the timer for recording. Select a parameter to be activated by clicking the pulldown list. INT: Selects the internal timer for recording as scheduled in the programmed menu. EXT: Selects the external timer for recording when detecting power on and off. OFF: Timer recording is disabled. To record manually, set to this mode. The factory default setting is OFF. User Name: Password: admin nil (not required) Note: When the parameter is set to something other than OFF, the Disk Recorder does not start recording even if the REC button is pressed. Programming Setup Window As shown in the figure, the WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window has eight main submenus. Seven of these are further divided into additional submenus. The display underlined indicates that the item has a submenu for more detailed setups. 14

15 RECORDING SETUP Common Recording Setup On the WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window, click the COM- MON SETUP display in the window. The COMMON SETUP window shown in the figure will appear on the display screen. COLOR STD: Images are recorded with normal colors. B/W: Images are recorded in black-and-white. The factory default setting is COLOR STD. Other Recording Settings 1. Select either ON or OFF by clicking the button. The item lets you enable or disable recording of the camera and group titles with the image on the Hard Disk. ON: Enables recording of the titles on the Hard Disk. OFF: Disables recording of the titles on the Hard Disk. The factory default setting is OFF. These items let you determine the common recording settings, camera assignment for the groups and playback settings. To return to the previous WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window, click the [HD500 MENU] button. Recording Image Quality Setup These items let you determine the image quality recorded on the Hard Disk. 1. Select one of the modes by clicking the FIELD/FRAME pulldown list. The item lets you select the pixel numbers (number of horizontal x vertical image elements) or resolution of the video image. FRAME 3DIM ON: High resolution (720 x 480) distortion-free image FRAME 3DIM OFF: High resolution (720 x 480) image. FIELD: Normal resolution (720 x 240) image The factory default setting is FIELD. 2. Select one of the modes by clicking the COLOR MODE pulldown list. The item lets you enable or disable recording in color or black and white. 2. Select either ON or OFF by clicking the button. The item lets you enable or disable recording of the clock (date and time) with the image on the Hard Disk. ON: Enables recording of the clock on the Hard Disk. OFF: Disables recording of the clock on the Hard Disk. The factory default setting is OFF. 3. Select either 8 or 16 by clicking the button. The item lets you select the maximum number of thumbnail images displayed in the search window. 8: Displays a maximum of 8 thumbnail images. 16: Displays a maximum of 16 thumbnail images. The factory default setting is Select one of the modes to be played back by clicking the pulldown list. The item lets you select the playback mode according to the recorded number when the [PLAYBACK] button is pressed. ALL: All the records are played back with automatic switching. LOOP: Repeats playing back the selected number of the recording. ONE: Switches to standby mode for the next operation, after the selected recording number has been played back once. The factory default setting is ALL. COLOR FINE: Images are recorded with enhanced colors. 15

16 5. Select one of the modes by clicking the pulldown list. The item lets you enable or disable uninterrupted recording when the hard disk space is used up. STOP: Stops recording when the disk is full. CONTINUE: Continues recording by overwriting the oldest data when the disk is full. ALM CONTINUE: Continues only recording the data while an alarm is activated by overwriting the oldest data, when the disk is full. Group Setup (Title) This item lets you edit the group title to be displayed on the monitor screen. Each title is composed of 8 alphanumeric characters. Click the GROUP SETUP (TITLE) display on the COMMON SETUP window. The GROUP SETUP (TITLE) window as shown in the figure will appear on the display screen. The factory default setting is STOP. 6. Click the [SET] button in the window to execute the selections. Group Setup (Camera Assignment) The Disk Recorder activates the recording function of the assigned cameras in four groups when the TIMER is set to INT (internal). These items let you determine the camera s group for recording. Click the GROUP SETUP (CAMERA ASSIGNMENT) display on the COMMON SETUP window. The GROUP SETUP (CAMERA ASSIGNMENT) window as shown in the figure will appear on the display screen. 1. Type the character to be edited in an editing box for a group. The characters shown below can be selected. Numeral: Alphabet: A to Z, a to z Symbols: =? ' " # & ( ) * +,. / : ; Space: 2. Repeat the above step to edit other group titles. 3. When satisfied with all the group titles, click the [SET] button in the window to execute the selections. 4. To return to the previous COMMON SETUP window, click the COMMON SETUP display in the window. 1. Select a group number (1 to 4) to be assigned for a camera by clicking the pulldown list in the GROUP column. The factory default settings is Repeat the above step to assign the group number for other cameras. 3. When all camera assignments are completed, click the [SET] button to execute the selections. 4. To return to the previous COMMON SETUP window, click the HD500 SETUP MENU display in the window. 16

17 Manual Recording Setup The Disk Recorder can be recorded the images in Time Lapse recording when the REC button is pressed manually. Manual Recording is disabled when the TIMER in the setup window is set to something other than OFF. These settings are also valid for External Timer Recording when the TIMER in the setup menu is set to EXT. These items let you determine the image quality and active mode for manual recording. 1. Select either parameter by clicking the MANUAL pulldown list in the WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window. W/OUT AUDIO: Enables Manual Recording without audio. WITH AUDIO: Enables Manual Recording with audio. The factory default setting is W/OUT AUDIO. 2. Clicking the MANUAL display will call up the MANUAL REC SETUP window according to the specified audio function, as shown in the figure. 2. Select the recording time mode to be set by clicking the pulldown list. The numeric indicates the hours for recording time mode: 2, 12, 18, 24, 48, 72, 96, 120, 180, 240, 360, 480, 720, 960, 1200, 1440, 2160, 2880, 3600, 4320, 6480, When the parameter SF/FQ/NQ/EX is selected for recording mode, the recording rate and quality are automatically set according to the selected recording time mode. Note: The recording time mode may not be set according to the remain space of the Hard Disk. The factory default setting is SF-24H. 3. If the parameter SP is selected for recording time mode, select the REC RATE parameter by clicking the pulldown list. 1-30fps: Records the selected number of freeze images every second. 0.5fps: Records a freeze image every 2 seconds. 0.4fps: Records a freeze image every 2.5 seconds. 0.3fps: Records a freeze image every 3.3 seconds. 0.2fps: Records a freeze image every 5 seconds. 0.1fps: Records a freeze image every 10 seconds. Notes: 30fps is the active selection when the FIELD/ FRAME parameter in the COMMON SETUP window is set to FIELD. 15fps is the active selection when the FIELD/ FRAME parameter in the COMMON SETUP window is set to FIELD or FRAME 3DIM OFF. 3. To return to the previous WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window, click that display in the window. Manual Recording Mode Setting The items let you determine the recording image quality and recording mode on the Hard Disk. 1. Select a recording image quality to be set by clicking the pulldown list. 4. If the parameter SP is selected for recording time mode, select the REC QUALITY parameter for recording image quality by clicking the pulldown list. SUPER FINE: For enhanced sharpness (Compression Rate 1/6) FINE: For fine image quality (Compression Rate 1/10) NORMAL: For normal image quality (Compression Rate 1/16) EXTENDED: For extended time recording quality (Compression Rate 1/25) The factory default setting is SUPER FINE. SF: Selects the recording mode in enhanced fine quality. FQ: Selects the recording mode in fine quality. NQ: Selects the recording mode in normal quality. EX: Selects the recording mode in extended quality. SP: Selects freely 17

18 Alarm Recording (Manual Recording) These items let you set the recording mode in Time Lapse Recording when an alarm is activated during manual recording. 1. Select the alarm recording time mode by clicking the pulldown list. The parameters are the same as MANUAL REC MODE. The factory default setting is SF-24H. 2 Select the alarm recording rate by clicking the pulldown list. For details refer to REC RATE in this window. 3. Select the alarm recording image quality by clicking the pulldown list. For details refer to REC QUALITY in this window. Timer Recording Setup The Disk Recorder can record the images triggered by the internal timer. The internal timer comprises four event times common to the recording groups, and is programmed in the setup. 1. Select either parameter by clicking the TIMER pulldown list in the WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window. W/OUT AUDIO: Enables Timer Recording without audio. WITH AUDIO: Enables Timer Recording with audio. The factory default setting is W/OUT AUDIO. 2. Clicking the TIMER display will call up the TIMER REC SETUP window according to the specified audio function, as shown in the figure. 4. Select the alarm recording duration by clicking the pulldown list. OFF: Disables alarm recording. 10S - 6M: Enables alarm recording for between 10 seconds and 6 minutes. MANUAL: Enables alarm recording while the alarm signal is received from the ALARM port on the WJ- HD500 Disk Recorder. CONTINUE: Enables alarm recording until the REC STOP is pressed. The factory default setting is 10S. 5. Select the alarm recording pattern by clicking the pulldown list. OFF: Records all input images starting from input 1. ALM-PRI: Records the alarmed input images preferentially over other video inputs. ALM-ONLY: Records the particular images that have activated the alarm. The factory default setting is OFF. 6. Click the [SET] button to execute the selection. 7. To return to the previous WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window, click that display in the window. 3. To return to the previous WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window, click the HD500 SETUP MENU in the window. Program Timer Recording Internal Program Timer These items let you set the program timer for each day of the week. There are 4 programs timer can be assigned in the window. 1. Select a program timer (PROG1 to PROG4) to be assigned for a day by clicking the PROGRAM pulldown list. It is recommended to assign a program to a weekday, a weekend or on a daily basis. Selecting the ( ) will disable the program timer. 2. Repeat the above step to assign the program timer for other days. 18

19 3. Click the [More] button of the assigned program number (PROG1), the assigned program number window as shown in the figure will appear on the display. For further recording settings, refer to Program Timer detailed. Note: The program number menu (with audio) displays only the Group 1 editing area. Program Timer The described below let you determine the program timer schedule and recording mode. Click the [More] button of the assigned program number (PROG1) in the TIMER REC SETUP window, the assigned program number window as shown in the figure will appear on the display screen. External Program Timer The internal timer can be changed to the specified timer previously programmed by the input from the external. This function is enabled, when a contact is connected with pin 22 of the ALARM port on the Disk Recorder. This item lets you enable or disable the external timer for recording. 1. Select a program timer (PROG1 to PROG4) to be changed for the EXT REC MODE parameter in the TIMER REC SETUP window by clicking the pulldown list. PROG1-4: Selects a timer assigned program number. : Disables the external program timer. The factory default setting is PROG1. 2. Click the [More] button to display the assigned program number window previously programmed. If the program number window has not been edited previously, edit the assigned program number window as described follows. 3. Click the [SET] button to execute the selections. 1. Select the time to start and end the recording for a timer (NO. 1) by pressing the keyboard. Notes: If the timer (NO. 1) to end recording is set to 24:00, the editing function for the timers (NO. 2 to No. 4) is disabled. If the timer (NO. 1) to end the recording is set to 12:00, the timer (NO. 2) to start a recording can not be set to a time before 12: Select the recording mode for groups by clicking the pulldown list. T/L: Time Lapse Recording M/S: Multi Shot Recording O/S: One Shot Recording : Disables Recording Note: For further recording settings, refer to the recording mode selected described later. 3. Repeat the above steps to program the timers (NO. 2 to NO. 4). 4. When all settings are completed, click the [SET] button to execute the selections. For further settings, refer to the recording mode corresponding to the selection. 19

20 Special Day Timer Click the TIMER SPECIAL DAY display in the underneath of the TIMER REC SETUP window will display the TIMER SPE- CIAL DAY SETUP window as shown in the figure. This window allows for up to 30 days to be defined as special days. In this table, 30 specific user defined days are assigned to one day of the week. Before programming this table, confirm that the Program Timer is programmed completely. Time Lapse Recording (Internal Timer) These items let you set the recording parameters for Time Lapse Recording assigned in the program number window. (Continued from Program Timer) Select the recording mode T/L in the program number window by clicking the pulldown list, then click the [More] button. The selected Time Lapse Recording window as shown in the figure will appear on the display screen. 1. Enter a month and then date in the box by pressing the keyboard. Note: The programmed month and date will be valid for every year. 2. Select the day of the week to be activated the programmed timer by clicking the pulldown list. 3. Repeat the above steps to program the other special days. 4. If the another table to program the special days, click the NEXT 10 display. The new programming table will appear on the display screen. 5. When satisfied with all special days, click the [SET] button to execute the selections. Timer Recording Mode These items let you set the recording mode in Time Lapse Recording with the internal programmed timer. 1. Select the recording time mode to be set by clicking the pulldown list. SF- H: Selects the recording time mode in enhanced fine quality. FQ- H: Selects the recording time mode in fine quality. NQ- H: Selects the recording time mode in normal quality. EX- H: Selects the recording time mode in extended quality. SP: Freely selectable OFF: Enables only the alarm recording. indicates the hours for recording time mode: 2, 12, 18, 24, 48, 72, 96, 120, 180, 240, 360, 480, 720, 960, 1200, 1440, 2160, 2880, 3600, 4320, 6480, 8640 When the parameter SF/FQ/NQ/EX is selected for recording mode, the recording rate and quality are automatically set according to the selected recording time mode. If the parameter SP is selected for recording mode, select a recording rate by clicking the pulldown list. 1-30fps: Records the selected number of the freeze images every second. 0.5fps: Records a freeze image every 2 seconds. 0.4fps: Records a freeze image every 2.5 seconds. 0.3fps: Records a freeze image every 3.3 seconds. 0.2fps: Records a freeze image every 5 seconds. 0.1fps: Records a freeze image every 10 seconds. 30fps is the active selection when the FIELD/FRAME parameter in the COMMON SETUP window is set to FIELD. 15fps is the active selection when the FIELD/FRAME parameter in the COMMON SETUP window is set to FIELD or FRAME 3DIM OFF. Select a recording image quality by pressing the clicking the pulldown list. SUPER FINE: For enhanced sharpness (Compression Rate 1/6) FINE: For fine image quality (Compression Rate 1/10) NORMAL: For normal image quality (Compression Rate 1/16) EXTENDED: For extended time recording quality (Compression Rate 1/25) Alarm Recording Mode These items let you set the recording mode in Time Lapse Recording when an alarm is activated during the recording with the internal programmed timer. 1. Select a recording time mode by clicking the pulldown list. The parameters are the same as TIMER REC MODE. For details refer to TIMER REC MODE in this window. 2. Select a recording rate by clicking the pulldown list. For details refer to REC RATE in this menu. 5. Select an alarm recording pattern by clicking the pulldown list. OFF: Records the images assigned to the group inputs including the one which has activated the alarm. ALM-PRI: Records the alarm input images preferentially over other video inputs. ALM-ONLY: Records the particular images that have activated the alarm. The factory default setting is OFF. 6. Click the [SET] button to execute the selections. 7. Click the PROG SETUP display in the underneath of the window to return to the previous program number window. Multi Shot Recording (Internal Timer) As described before, the Multi Shot Recording is an event recording function reacting to an alarm input. It records the number of images in pre- and post-recording. Pre-recording is the recorded images during standby, prior to the input of the alarm signal. Post-recording is the recorded images after the input of the alarm signal. These items let you determine the recording parameters for Multi Shot Recording assigned in the program number menu. (Continued from Program Timer) Select the recording mode M/S in the program number window by clicking the pulldown list, then click the [More] button. The selected Multi Shot Recording window as shown in the figure will appear on the display. 3. Select a recording image quality clicking the pulldown list. For details refer to REC QUALITY in this menu. 4. Select the alarm recording duration by clicking the pulldown list S - 6M: Enables alarm recording for between 10 seconds and 6 minutes. MANUAL: Enables alarm recording while the alarm signal is received from the ALARM port. CONTINUE: Enables alarm recording until the REC STOP is pressed. The factory default setting is 10S. 1. Select a recording image quality by clicking the pulldown list. SUPER FINE: For enhanced sharpness (Compression Rate 1/6) FINE: For fine image quality (Compression Rate 1/10) NORMAL: For normal image quality (Compression Rate 1/16) EXTENDED: For extended recording quality (Compression Rate 1/25) The factory default setting is SUPER FINE. One Shot Recording (Internal Timer) As described before, the One Shot Recording is an event recording Function reacting to an alarm input. It records the number of particular images that have activated the alarm. These items let you determine the recording parameters for One Shot Recording assigned in the program number menu. (Continued from Program Timer) Select the recording mode O/S in the program number window by clicking the pulldown list, then click the [More} button. The selected One Shot Recording window as shown in the figure will appear on the display. 3. Select a number of the pre-recording images by clicking the pulldown list. 0: Disables pre-recording. 4 to maximum: Sets the number of images for prerecording. The maximum number of the pre-recording is determined by the setting of FIELD/FRAME and REC QUALI- TY. The factory default setting is Select a number of the post-recording images by clicking the pulldown list. 4 to 200: Sets the number of images for post-recording. The factory default setting is Select the recording pattern for post-recording by clicking the pulldown list. OFF: Records the images assigned to group inputs, including the one that has activated the alarm (the same as pre-recording). ALM-ONLY: Records the particular image that has activated the alarm. The factory default setting is OFF. 1. Select a recording rate by clicking the pulldown list. 1-30fps: Records the selected number of the freeze image per second. The factory default setting is 15fps. 30fps is the active selection when the FIELD/ FRAME parameter in the COMMON SETUP menu is set to FIELD. 15fps is the active selection when the FIELD/ FRAME parameter in the COMMON SETUP menu is set to FIELD or FRAME 3DIM OFF. 2. Select a number of freeze images to be recorded by clicking the pulldown list. 4 to 60: Records the selected number of freeze images for One Shot Recording. The factory default setting is Click the [SET] button to execute the selections. 5. Click the PROG SETUP display in the underneath of the window to return to the previous program number window. Emergency Recording (Time Lapse Recording) The Emergency Recording is given priority to record all video inputs in Time Lapse Recording reacting to a signal input form the CONTROL port on the Disk Recorder. These items let you determine the recording parameters for Time Lapse Recording when the input signal is received from pin 21 of the CONTROL port located on the rear of the Disk Recorder. 1. Select either audio recording function by clicking the pulldown list for EMERGENCY in the WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window. W/OUT AUDIO: Enables Emergency Recording without audio. WITH AUDIO: Enables Emergency Recording with audio. The factory default setting is W/OUT AUDIO. 2. Click the EMERGENCY display in the WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window. The selected EMERGENCY REC SETUP window as shown in the figure will appear on the display. 3. Select a recording time mode by clicking the pulldown list. SF- H: Selects the recording time mode in enhanced fine quality. FQ- H: Selects the recording time mode in fine quality. NQ- H: Selects the recording time mode in normal quality. EX- H: Selects the recording time mode in extended time quality. The factory default setting is 10S. 6. Click the [SET] button to execute the selections. 7. Click the HD500 SETUP MENU display in the underneath of the window to return to the previous WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window. 24

25 MULTIPLEXER SETUP These items let you determine functions such as sequence and power on status for this Disk Recorder. 1. Click the MULTIPLEXER SETUP in the WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window. The MULTIPLEXER SETUP window as shown in the figure will appear on the display. 7 to 16SCREEN: Selects a display with the assigned segment. The factory default setting is QUAD-4A. 2. Select a display pattern on the Spot Monitor by clicking the pulldown list. 1-16: Selects an assigned camera image in single spot mode. SPOT SEQ: Selects a sequence pattern programmed in the Live Sequence (Spot Monitor) described later. The factory default setting is To return to the previous WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window, click the HD500 SETUP MENU display in the underneath of the window. Or to open the further divided SEQUENCE SETUP window, click the SEQUENCE SETUP display in the underneath of the window. Multiplexer Setup The following settings are made in the MULTIPLEXER SETUP window. Power on Status Setup The items let you select a pattern on the monitor screen when the Disk Recorder s power is turned on. Secret View Setting When the video input is displayed in the spot mode on the Spot Monitor, the Multiscreen Monitor is enabled to skip the step in sequence or display a blackout in multiscreen for that selected input image. This function is called Secret View and the item lets you enable or disable this function on the Multiscreen Monitor. 1. Select either OFF or ON for SECRET VIEW by clicking the button. OFF: Disables the secret view function. ON: Enables the secret view function. The factory default setting is OFF. 2. Click the [SET] button in the window to execute the selections. 1. Select a display pattern on the Multiscreen Monitor by clicking the pulldown list. 1-16: Selects an assigned camera image in single spot mode. SPOT SEQ: Selects a sequence pattern programmed in the Live Sequence (Spot Monitor). QUAD-4A to QUAD-4D: Selects an assigned quad display in spot mode. QUAD SEQ: Selects a sequence pattern programmed in the Live Sequence (Multiscreen Monitor). 25

26 Sequence Setup These items let you program the sequence pattern for the Spot and Multiscreen Monitor. 1. Click the SEQUENCE SETUP display in the MULTI- PLEXER SETUP window. The SEQUENCE SETUP window as shown in the figure will appear on the display screen. 2. Select either INT or EXT to advance the sequence by clicking the button. The item lets you select between internal and external control for advancing the sequence on the Multiscreen Monitor. INT: Advances a sequence by the Dwell Time that was programmed in the MULTI LIVE SEQ SETUP window. EXT: Advances a sequence by the input from pin 5 of the ALARM port on the rear of the Disk Recorder. The factory default setting is INT. 3. Select either QUAD or MULTI GROUP display mode to be run on the monitor by clicking the button. The cameras are assigned to 4 groups for recording with a programmed internal timer. The item lets you select the sequence pattern to be displayed of each group on the Multiscreen Monitor. 2. Select an item or item parameter in the SEQUENCE SETUP window. 3. To return to the previous MULTIPLEXER SETUP window, click the MULTIPLEXER SETUP display in the underneath of the window. Or open the further divided setup window, click one of the display in the underneath of the window. Sequence Setup (Multiscreen Monitor) The described below let you program the sequence pattern for the Multiscreen Monitor. 1. Select either ON or OFF to enable or disable the quad shift operation by clicking the button. The item lets you enable or disable the quad shift operation when the [MULTISCREEN SELECT] button on the Disk Recorder is pressed. Quad shift displays an image series such as 4A, 4B, 4C and 4D previously programmed on four screen segments. MULTI GROUP: Camera images are displayed in sequence with the minimum quantities of the segment screen. QUAD: Camera images are displayed with a 4-segment screen in sequence. The factory default setting is QUAD. 4. Select a dwell time for the group sequence by pressing the keyboard. 1-30: Selects the dwell time between 1 second and 30 seconds. The factory default setting is 2 SEC. 5. Select either ON or OFF to enable or disable the auto skip function by clicking the button. The item lets you enable or disable the auto skip function on the Multiscreen Monitor to skip any steps when no video signal is present. ON: Enables the auto skip function on the Multiscreen Monitor. OFF: Disables the auto skip function on the Multiscreen Monitor. The factory default setting is ON. ON: Enables the quad shift operation. OFF: Disables the quad shift operation. The initial factory setting is OFF. 26

27 Sequence Setup (Spot Monitor) The described below let you program the sequence pattern for the Spot Monitor. Sequence Timing Setting This item lets you select between internal and external control for advancing the sequence on the Spot Monitor. 1. Select either INT or EXT to advance the sequence by clicking the button. The item lets you select between internal and external control for advancing the sequence on the Spot Monitor. INT: Advances a sequence by the Dwell Time that was programmed on the (SPOT) LIVE SEQ SETUP. EXT: Advances a sequence by the input from pin 5 of the ALARM port on then rear of the Disk Recorder. The factory default setting is INT. 2. Select either ON or OFF to enable or disable the auto skip function by clicking the button. The item lets you enable or disable the auto skip function on the Spot Monitor to skip any steps when no video signal is present. ON: Enables the auto skip function on the Spot Monitor. OFF: Disables the auto skip function on the Spot Monitor. The factory default setting is ON. 3. Click the [SET] button to execute the selections. Multi Live Sequence Setting (Multiscreen Monitor) There are three sequence patterns to run on the Multiscreen Monitor. The items shown below let you program the sequence to run on the Multiscreen Monitor. Multi Live Sequence is a series of 16 steps assigned to the Multiscreen Monitor. The sequence steps can be combined with four screen segments (quad) display. 2. Select a camera to be displayed in the CAM column for step 1 by pressing the keyboard. 1-16: Displays the image of the selected camera number. 4A - 4D: Displays the assigned images in quad. Refer to the QUAD PATTERN SETUP for settings. : Disables display and will skip automatically. 3. Select a preset position to be displayed in the PRESET column for step 1 by pressing the keyboard, if applicable : Selects a preset position of the assigned camera. : No preset position The factory default setting is. Note: To assign the parameters 1-64, the specified combination cameras are equipped in the system with a PS.Data* mode. 4. Select a dwell time in the SEC column for step 1 by pressing the keyboard. 0S: The step will not be displayed on the monitor. 1S - 30S: Selects a dwell time between 1 second and 30 seconds. 5. Repeat the above steps 2 to 4 to program the other steps. 6. When satisfied with all of the above steps, click the [SET] button to execute the selections. 1. Click the MULTI LIVE SEQ SETUP in the underneath of the SEQUENCE SETUP window. The window shown in the figure will appear on the display. 27

28 Quad Pattern Setup This item lets you select the pattern to be displayed on the Multiscreen Monitor when a 4-segment (Quad) display is selected in spot or sequence. The camera images can be assigned to the segments as shown in the figure. 1. Click the MULTI QUAD PATTERN SETUP in the SEQUENCE SETUP window. The window as shown in the figure will appear on the display screen. 2. Select a camera to be displayed in the CAM column for step 1 by pressing the keyboard. 1-16: Displays the image of the selected camera number. : Disables display and will skip automatically. 3. Select a preset position to be displayed in the PRESET column for step 1 by pressing the keyboard, if applicable. 2. Select a camera number to be assigned for 4A-1 by clicking the pulldown list. 1-16: Displays the image of the selected camera number. 4A-1 to 4D-4 indicates the display pattern, including the camera assignment and display positions followed. 3. Repeat the above step to assign a camera for others. 4. When satisfied with all of the above steps, click the [SET] button to execute the selections. Spot Live Sequence Setting (Spot Monitor) This item lets you program the live sequence pattern to be run on the Spot Monitor. Live sequence is a series of 16 steps assigned to the Spot Monitor. This sequence can be run on the Multiscreen Monitor by operating the buttons : Selects a preset position of the assigned camera. : No preset position The factory default setting is. Note: To assign the parameters 1-64, the specified combination cameras are equipped in the system with a PS.Data* mode. 4. Select a dwell time in the SEC column for step 1 by pressing the keyboard. 0S: The step will not be displayed on the monitor. 1S - 30S: Selects the dwell time between 1 second and 30 seconds. The factory default setting is 2S. 5. Repeat the above steps 2 to 4 to program the other steps. 6. When satisfied with all of the above steps, click the [SET] button to execute the selections. 1. Click the SPOT LIVE SEQ SETUP in the underneath of the SEQUENCE SETUP window. The window shown in the figure will appear on the display screen. 28

29 ALARM SETUP The described below let you determine functions such as display and mode when an alarm is activated. 1. Click the ALARM SETUP display in the WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window. The ALARM SETUP window as shown in the figure will appear on the display screen. The item lets you select the output duration of the alarm signal from the ALARM port on the rear of the Disk Recorder. OFF: Disables alarm output, regardless of an incoming alarm. 1-30(SEC), 40(SEC), 50(SEC), 1(MIN) 5(MIN): Selects an alarm output between 1 second and 5 minutes. EXT: Alarm output continues until the ALARM RESET button is pressed or the external alarm recover signal is received from the ALARM port on the rear of the Disk Recorder. 4. If the 1-30(SEC) is selected for the parameter, select a value by pressing the keyboard. The factory default setting is 2 SEC. 5. Select the ringing duration by clicking the pulldown list. The item lets you select the ringing duration of the builtin alarm buzzer in the Disk Recorder when an alarm is activated. 2. Select an item or item parameter in the window. 3. To return to the previous WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU menu, click the HD500 SETUP MENU display. Or to open the further divided setup window, click one of the display in the underneath of the window. Alarm Setup 1. Select the duration by clicking the pulldown list. The item lets you select the duration the Disk Recorder retains the alarm mode before resetting automatically. OFF: Disables auto reset. 1-30(SEC): Selects an alarm duration between 1 second and 30 seconds. 40(SEC): Selects an alarm duration for 40 seconds. 50(SEC): Selects an alarm duration for 50 seconds. 1(MIN): Selects an alarm duration for 1 minutes. 2(MIN): Selects an alarm duration for 2 minutes. 3(MIN): Selects an alarm duration for 3 minutes. 4(MIN): Selects an alarm duration for 4 minutes. 5(MIN): Selects an alarm duration for 5 minutes. 2. If the 1-30(SEC) is selected for the parameter, select a value by pressing the keyboard. The factory default setting is OFF. 3. Select the alarm output duration by clicking the pulldown list. OFF: Disables alarm buzzer, regardless of an incoming alarm. 1-30(SEC), 40(SEC), 50(SEC), 1(MIN) 5(MIN): Selects an alarm duration between 1 second and 5 minutes. EXT: Alarm buzzer continues to beep until the ALARM RESET button is pressed or the external alarm recover signal is received from the ALARM port. 6. If the 1-30(SEC) is selected for the parameter, select a value by pressing the keyboard. The factory default setting is 2 SEC. 7. Select either ON or OFF to enable or disable the video loss alarm function by clicking the button. The item lets you enable or disable the video loss alarm function when the Disk Recorder detects the interruption of the video signal. ON: Enables the video loss function. OFF: Disables the video loss function. The factory default setting is ON. 8. Select either ON or OFF to enable or disable the motion detector function by clicking the button. The function is available when the Motion Detector Board (Optional) is installed. The item lets you enable or disable the motion detector function when the Disk Recorder detects a motion on the video image. ON: Enables the motion detector function. OFF: Disables the motion detector function. 29

Alarm Port Setting This item lets you designate the alarm input from the ALARM port located on the rear of the Disk Recorder. 1. Click the ALARM TERMINAL SETUP in the underneath of the ALARM SETUP window. The table as shown in the figure will appear on the display screen. 4. Select the type of contact to meet the system requirement in the INPUT editing area by clicking the pulldown list. Normally Open: Accepts alarm input from Normally Open contacts. Normally Close: Accepts alarm input from Normally Closed contacts. The factory default setting is Normally Open. 5. Click the [SET] button to execute the selections and the corresponding alarm channel will be replaced in the table. 6. Repeat the above steps 2 to 5 to designate the other input channels. 7. When satisfied with all of the above steps, click the ALARM SETUP display to return to the previous ALARM SETUP window. Video Motion Detector Setting The following settings are available when the Motion Detector Board (Optional) is installed. This item lets you determine the mode of the motion detector function when the Disk Recorder detects a motion on the video image. Notes: Make sure that the VIDEO MOTION DETECTION is set to ON in the ALARM SETUP window previously. When the detecting area is set small, the function may not detect object. It is recommended that the areas and sensitivity levels are made test before the settings. 1. Click the VMD AREA SETUP in the underneath of the ALARM SETUP window. The VMD AREA SETUP window as shown in the figure will appear on the display screen. 2. Select an alarm input channel (1CH - 16CH) in the ALARM editing area by clicking the pulldown list. 3. Select a camera number (CAM1 - CAM16) corresponding to the input in the CAMERA editing area by clicking the pulldown list. 30

31 2. Select a sensitivity mode for a camera (1CH) by clicking the pulldown list. OFF: LOW: MID: HIGH: Disables the motion detector function. Selects lower sensitivity. Selects normal sensitivity. Selects higher sensitivity. The factory default setting is OFF. 3. Repeat the above step to designate the other camera channels. 4. When satisfied with all of the above steps, click the [SET] button to execute the selections. 5. If the parameter is set to something other than OFF in step 2, select the corresponding channel in the VMD AREA SETUP PAGE by clicking the button. The alarm detecting area setup window as shown in the figure will appear on the display screen. 6. Drag the mouse pointer on the screen from the starting point to the ending point to determine the rectangular detecting area. Up to four detecting areas can be set on the screen. 7. To assign an other detecting area, repeat the above step To delete the area, click the rectangle to be delete on the screen, then click the [DELETE] button. 9. Click the [SET] button to execute the selections. 10. To return to the previous window, click the [RETURN VMD AREA SETUP] button. 11. Repeat the above steps 5 to 10 to set the detector function for other cameras. 12. Click the ALARM SETUP in the underneath of the VMD AREA SETUP window to return to the previous ALARM SETUP menu. 31

Click the DISPLAY SETUP in the WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window. The DISPLAY SETUP window as shown in the figure will appear on the display screen. OFF: Disables the display of the camera and group title on the monitor screen. The factory default setting is ON. 3. Select either ON or OFF to enable or disable the status display on the Multiscreen Monitor by clicking the button. ON: Enables the status display on the monitor screen. OFF: Disables the status display on the monitor screen. The factory default setting is ON. 4. Select the mode or color for the display of borders by clicking the pulldown list. The item lets you enable or disable the display of borders that divide the screen of the Multiscreen Monitor, or selects a border color. 2. Select an item parameter in the window. OFF: WHITE: GRAY: BLACK: No border White border Gray border Black border 3. To return to the previous WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window, click the HD500 SETUP MENU display in the underneath of the window. Select either ON or OFF to enable or disable the clock display on the Multiscreen Monitor by clicking the button. ON: Enables the clock display on the monitor screen. Select either ON or OFF to enable or disable the title display on the Multiscreen Monitor by clicking the button. The factory default setting is WHITE. Other Display Setting 1. Select either ON or OFF to enable or disable the title display on the Spot Monitor by clicking the button. ON: Enables the display of the camera and group title on the monitor screen. OFF: Disables the display of the camera and group title on the monitor screen. The factory default setting is ON. 2. Select either ON or OFF to enable or disable the alarm display on the monitors by clicking the button. The item lets you enable or disable the alarm display on the Spot and Multiscreen Monitor. ON: Enables the alarm display on the monitor screens. OFF: Disables the alarm display on the monitor screens. The factory default setting is ON. 3. Select a position to be displayed on the monitor by clicking the pulldown list. ON: Enables the display of the camera and group title on the monitor screen. 32

CENTER: Placed in the center of the monitor screen. The factory default setting is L-UPPER. 4. Select a position to be displayed on the monitors by clicking the pulldown list. The item lets you select the position where the title display is placed on the Spot and Multiscreen Monitor. 2. Select a character corresponding to a camera by pressing the keyboard. The characters shown below can be entered in the TITLE column. Numeral: Alphabet: A to Z, a to z Symbols: =? ' " # & ( ) * +,. / : ; Space: 3. Repeat the above step 2 to edit other camera titles. 4. When satisfied with all of the camera titles, click the [SET] button to execute the selections. 5. To return to the previous DISPLAY SETUP window, click the DISPLAY SETUP display in the underneath of the window. L-UPPER: Placed in the upper-left corner of the monitor screen. R-UPPER: Placed in the upper-right corner of the monitor screen. L-LOWER: Placed in the lower-left corner of the monitor screen. R-LOWER: Placed in the lower-right corner of the monitor screen. CENTER: Placed in the center of the monitor screen. The factory default setting is R-LOWER. Camera Title Setup This item lets you edit the camera title to be displayed on the monitor screens. 34 COMMUNICATION SETUP The procedures described below let you set the parameters for the Disk Recorder to communicate with external devices. PS.Data Setup These items let you set the parameters for communication between the System Controllers and the Disk Recorders when the system is controlled with the PS.Data mode (Panasonic Security Data). 1. Click the PS.Data SETUP in the WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window. The PS.Data SETUP window as shown in the figure will appear on the display. 3. Select NONE, EVEN or ODD for parity check by clicking the button. The factory default setting is NONE. 4. Select either 1 or 2 for the number of stop bits by clicking the button. The factory default setting is 1 bit. 5. Select OFF, 100, 200, 400, ms for the wait time by clicking the pulldown list. The item lets you set the waiting time in milliseconds (ms) to retry after confirming that no data is received from the controller for RS-485 communication. When no transmission is needed, select OFF. The factory default setting is OFF (no retry). 6. Select a mode of the alarm notification by clicking the pulldown list. The item lets you enable or disable notification of the alarm data received to the controller (Unit Number 1). 2. Select an item parameter in the window. 3. To return to the previous setup menu, click the HD500 SETUP MENU in the underneath of window. Or to open the further divided setup window, click the CAMERA NUMBER SETUP display in the underneath of the window OFF: Select this parameter if the system controller is not connected to the system. 0(SEC): Each time an alarm is received, it is transmitted to the system controller. 1(SEC): The received alarm is stored for 1 second, and that data is sent to the system controller. 5(SEC): The received alarm is stored for 5 seconds, and that data is sent to the system controller. The factory default setting is 1(SEC). 7. Click the [SET] button to execute the selections. PS.Data Setup The described below let you set the communication parameters for RS-485 communication. 1. Select a unit address number ( ) of the Disk recorder to be used for RS-485 communication by pressing the keyboard. The factory default setting is Select a transmission speed (Baud Rate) by clicking the pulldown list. 2400bps 4800bps 9600bps 38400bps 19200bps 34 The factory default setting is 9600 bps.

35 Input (Camera) Number Setup This item lets you assign numbers for the input from the system cameras for RS-485 communication. 1. Click the CAMERA NUMBER SETUP in the PS.Data SETUP window. The CAMERA NUMBER SETUP window as shown in the figure will appear on the display. 2. Select a unit address number of the Disk Recorder to be used for RS-232C communication by pressing the keyboard. Select a parameter value between 001 and 099. The factory default setting is Select a transmission speed (Baud Rate) shown below by clicking the pulldown list. 2. Select a camera number corresponding to the VIDEO IN of the Disk Recorder by pressing the keyboard. : No assignment : Assigns the selected number. Note: Make sure not to assign the same number to more than one system camera for RS-485 communication. 3. Repeat the above step to edit other inputs (cameras). 4. After completing the settings, click the [SET] button to execute the selections. 5. To return to the previous PS.Data SETUP window, click the PS.Data SETUP in the window. 2400bps 4800bps 9600bps 38400bps 19200bps The factory default setting is 9600 bps. 4. RS-232C Setup These items let you set the parameters for communication between the SERIAL port of the Disk Recorder and an external device. 1. Click the RS-232C SETUP in the WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window. The RS-232C SETUP window as shown in the figure will appear on the display. 7. Select OFF, 100, 200, 400, ms for the wait time by clicking the pulldown list. 36 SYSTEM SETUP The described below let you determine the system designation and display the system logs. 1. Click the SYSTEM SETUP in the WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window. The SYSTEM SETUP window as shown in the figure will appear on display. Other System Setting 1. Select a mode for time adjustment by clicking the pulldown list. This Disk Recorder has a time adjustment input/output at the CONTROL port on the rear of the Disk Recorder. The item lets you enable or disable time adjustment by the input/output from the CONTROL port. OFF: Disables the time adjustment from the CONTROL port. MASTER: Enables the time adjustment output from the CONTROL port to set time for connected external device. SLAVE: Enables to set the time of this recorder by the input from the CONTROL port. The factory default setting is OFF. 2. Select an item parameter in the window. 3. To return to the previous WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window, click the HD500 SETUP MENU in the window. Or to open the further divided setup window, click the one of the display in the underneath of the window. System Setup Clock Setting The item lets you set the current time and date. 1. Select a month by entering the numeric input. 2. Select a date by entering the numeric input. 3. Select the last 2 digits for the year by entering the numeric input. 4. Select an hour (military time) and minutes by pressing the keyboard. 5. After completing the setting, click the [SET] button to update the clock 2. If the parameter is set to something other than OFF, select an hour (military time) to execute the time adjustment by entering numeric input. 3. Select either ON or OFF to enable or disable the button lock function automatically by clicking the button. OFF: No protection is applied until the LOCK button is pressed. ON: Enables the button lock function automatically if no operation takes place within about 5 seconds. The factory default setting is OFF. 4. Select either ON or OFF to enable or disable the buzzer by clicking the button. The item lets you enable or disable the buzzer sound accompanying operation of the Disk Recorder s buttons. ON: Enables the buzzer. OFF: Disables the buzzer. The factory default setting is ON. 5. Click the [SET] button in the window to execute the selections. 6. To return to the previous WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window, click the HD500 SETUP MENU display in the underneath of the window. 36

37 Disk Management 1. Click the DISK MANAGEMENT in the SYSTEM SETUP window. The DISK MANAGEMENT window as shown in the figure will appear on the display screen. Error Report There are 100 error records stored in chronological order in 10 pages of tables. 1. Click the ERROR REPORT in the SYSTEM SETUP window. The ERROR REPORT table as shown in the figure will appear on the display. 2. Select an indication mode for FULL indicator by clicking the pulldown list. The item lets you determine the indication mode for the FULL indicator when the remaining storage capacity is running low on the Hard Disk. OFF: No warning for remaining space 1% - 10%: The selected warning is issued if the remaining storage capacity is between 1 and 10%. The factory default setting is 1%. Note: This setting is applied to the display on the monitor screen and signal output from the CONTROL port. 3. To return to the previous SYSTEM SETUP window, click the SYSTEM SETUP display in the window. 2. Clicking the NEXT 10 or PREV 10 display in the window will select the next or previous page of the tables. 3. To return to the previous SYSTEM SETUP menu, click the SYSTEM SETUP display in the table. System Information The table indicates the version of the hardware and software. 1. Click the SYSTEM INFORMATION in the SYSTEM SETUP window. The SYSTEM INFORMATION table as shown in the figure will appear on the display. MAIN: Indicates the Disk Recorder. N/W: Indicates the Network Board. 2. 39 ACCESS AUTHORIZATION Control of Access Authorization User access authorization is controlled as follows. Unlimited access If neither user nor host authorization is used (set to NOT USE) in a network, all users may perform the following operations at access level 3. Monitoring live images Controlling cameras and other equipment connected to the WJ-HD500 C Accessing the WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU requires an administrator account. Limited access Access is limited according to the host access levels specified in the HOST SETUP window. The HOST SETUP window is queried using the IP address of the host requesting access to the WJ-HD500. When accessing via a proxy server, the access level therefore is determined by the IP address of the proxy server. When access is made from a PC not registered in the HOST SETUP window, the dialog box shown in the figure prompts the user to enter User Name and Password. The access level is determined when both the user name and password are entered. Access Level Three access levels can be assigned to control access by users. More than one user can be assigned the same access level. While device control commands are given top priority in the execution chain, there is no priority attached to the access level. It is possible to designate more than one network administrator and to change designated administrators. An "admin" user can change passwords, but is not authorized to delete users or change access levels. Host Setup Window A maximum of 8 terminal addresses can be registered in the HOST SETUP window. Initially there are no addresses registered. Enter the host IP address as a dotted (.) notation, for example The host name cannot be specified. The host IP address " " is invalid. Select (mark) any of access levels 1 to 3. 40

42 Monitoring Live Images The cameras connected to the Disk Recorder can be monitored in the MAIN CONTROL PANEL on the display screen. The following two modes are available for controlling the inputs from the cameras. Playing Back Recorded Images The recorded images on the disk can be played back on the panel. The procedure described below are for operations playing back the hard disk. Spot Monitoring 1. Click the [LIVE ON] button on the panel. The camera image (1 ch) will appear on the screen. 2. Click the desired Camera Select [1-16] button on the panel. The camera images corresponding to the button will appear on the panel. 3. Repeat the above step 2 to select other camera images on the panel. Sequence Monitoring 1. Click the [LIVE ON] button on the panel. The camera image (1 ch) will appear on the panel. 2. Click the [LIVE SEQUENCE] button on the panel. The sequence will be started from the camera images programmed previously. Refer to VIDEO MODE SETUP in the WJ-HDB502 setup for further detailed. 3. To return to the spot monitoring, click the Camera Select [1-16] button to be displayed. Recording Live Images The live images can be recorded as same as Manual Recording in Time Lapse Recording. The recording operation is only available the users set access level Click the [REC] button on the panel. When the user name and password dialog box appears, enter the user name and password to log-in. The Manual Recording will start. 2. To quite the recording, click the [REC STOP] button on the panel. Basic Playback 1. Clicking the [PLAY] button on the panel will play back the most recent recordings in the forward direction. When the user name and password dialog box appears, enter the user name and password to log-in. 2. To pause the playback, click the [PAUSE] button on the panel. PAUSE will appear in the Status Display. To resume playback, click the [PAUSE] button on the panel again. 3. To quit playback, click the [STOP] button on the panel. Reverse Playback During playback or playback pause, click the [REV-PLAY] button on the panel to play back the recording in the backward. R-PLAY will appear in the Status Display. 43

43 Forward or Backward search The recorded images can be searched playing back. During playback or playback pause, click the following buttons to search the recording. FF: Searches images in forward. REW: Searches images in backward. FF or REW will appear in the Status Display Clicking the button will change the search speed. Forward or Backward field advance The recorded images can be searched one-by-one, displaying field by field. During playback pause, click the following buttons to advance an image field by field. Search Record Function The Disk Recorder has two search functions. The procedures below describe how to search and play back records. 1. Click the [LIST] or [THUMBNAIL] on the panel. The corresponding list or thumbnail will appear on the panel as shown in the figure. Up to 16 list or thumbnail are displayed on the panel. When the user name and password dialog box appears, enter the user name and password to log-in. NEXT FRAME: Forward Field Advance PREV FRAME: Backward Field Advance Jump search The recorded images can be searched by jumping to the next recording from the currently selected record number. During playback, click the following buttons to move to the beginning of the next record from the record number currently selected. After jumping to the next recording, the Disk Recorder resumes playback. NEXT RECORD: Jumps to the beginning of the next recording in a forward direction. PREV RECORD: Jumps to the beginning of next recording in a backward direction. Main Panel List Display Thumbnail Display 2. To only search the alarm recording, click the [ALARM LIST] or [ALARM THUMBNAIL] on the panel. The corresponding alarm list or alarm thumbnail will appear on the panel. Thumbnail Display To play back the images in the thumbnail, follow the procedure shown below. 1. Click the [PREV] or [NEXT] button on the panel to select next or previous 16 thumbnail. 2. Select the thumbnail to be played back by clicking the record number and clock display. The selected images will start playback. 3. To return to the previous MAIN CONTROL PANEL, click the [MAIN MENU] button on the panel. 44

44 List Display To play back the images in the list, follow the procedure shown below. 1. Click the [LIST SEARCH] or [ALARM LIST SEARCH] button on the panel to display the following dialog window as shown in the figure. 4. Click the [PREV] or [NEXT] button on the panel to select next or previous 16 thumbnail. 5. Select a recording number to be displayed by clicking the Recording Number Display on the panel. 6. To return to the previous MAIN CONTROL PANEL, click the [MAIN MENU] button on the panel. Alarm Reset Function The Alarm Function activates the warning alarm status, when the externally connected alarm sensor is turned on, or an installed Video Motion Detector (optional) is activated. 1. When an alarm is activated in the system, ALM will appear on the Status Display of the MAIN CONTROL PANEL. 2. To return to the normal state previously, click the [ALARM RESET] button on the panel. When the user name and password dialog box appears, enter the user name and password to log-in. 2. Specify the search term to be played back in the window. q Select a group by clicking the pulldown list.
