Green building and construction is currently a key initiative targeting growth sectors in China's building and construction industries. 3 7588 to discuss your specific requirements. Technical Overview MOX Cable Technology Stranded loose tube cable technology The fibres are positioned in a loose tube made of a high modulus plastic. Tubes are filled with a filling compound. Fibres can move inside the tube. Tubes are stranded around the strength member into a compact and circular cable core. The cable is completed with a polyethylene sheath. Main characteristics of MOX stranded loose tube cable: -High strength loose tube that is hydrolysis resistant and special tube filling compound ensure a critical protection of fibres. -The strength member is located in the center of the cable core. The loose tubes are stranded around the strength member at proper lay length. The tensile strength and temperature performance of cable can be ensured by controlling the fibre excess length and adjusting the lay length. -The spaces between loose tubes and strength member are filled with cable filling compound to prevent water ingress. -Various measures are taken to ensure the cable is watertight longitudinally and axially. -Various measures are taken to ensure the crushresistance of the cable according to different requirements. Slotted core ribbon cable technology The fibre ribbons are positioned in the helical slotted core. The cable is completed with a polyethylene sheath. Main characteristics of MOX slotted core ribbon cable: -With dense fibre packing, the cable diameter is relatively small. -The slotted core is made of high-density polyethylene, which ensures good crush-resistance. This provides good protection to fibre ribbons and prevents fibres from damage when the cable is cut open -The helical slotted core ensures enough excess length for fibre ribbons, thus guaranteeing the tensile strength, bending and temperature performance of the cable.

4 -The application of the water expansible waterproof tape instead of the filling compound not only ensures the cable watertight, but also increases the splicing efficiency greatly, which makes the cable installation and maintenance easier. Spiral space unitube cable The fibres are positioned in a spiral space loose tube made of a high modulus plastic. The tube is filled with a water-resistant filling compound. The tube is wrapped with a layer of water-blocking material and armoring material. Two parallel steel wires are placed at the two sides. The cable is completed with a polyethylene sheath. Main characters of MOX spiral space unitube cable: -Specially designed spiral space loose tube is helpful to accurately control the fibre excess length thus to ensure good mechanical and temperature performance. -High strength loose tube that is hydrolysis resistant and special tube filling compound ensure a critical protection of fibres. Success Story Jackson to Moomba Cable Pipeline Project Challenge The Jackson oil fields are located approximately 1,050 km west of Brisbane and 275 km east of Moomba in South Australia. Santos recorded oil production from the Jackson fields to be 1,781 million barrels of oil equivalent at the end of The facility at the Jackson oil fields accepts oil through approximately 250km of pipelines and flow lines. These are linked to about 40 fields containing 182 oil wells. The crude oil passes through a dewatering process and is then pumped to a final destination. MOX was involved in providing high quality fibre cable to Santos pipeline project. Solution The pipeline in the Jackson-Moomba project was 200 mm diameter X70 steel pipe and passes through sparse country, containing flood plains, gibber plains and sand hills typically seen in the Cooper Basin

5 region. The MOX fibre optic cable was laid in the pipeline trench. The MOX cable has the flexibility and strength needed together with quality sheathing, making the installation work easier. Laying cable between two locations that are hundreds kilometres apart is rarely straightforward. Santos chose cable that provides a high resistance to micro-bending. Often there is no alternative but to tightly snake the cable around obstacles. On the few times that Santos needed to bend the fibre cable beyond the bend radius recommended by the manufacturer, the cable has still passed all customer tests. Santos prefers cable supplied on new timber drums like those provided by MOX. With metal drums, even minor damage to the drum during transit can produce a sharp burr that can easily slice through fibre optic cable. The timber drums do not present this risk and they are also lighter and therefore easier and safer for installers to work with. Another feature that Santos appreciated was the durability of the cable s outer sheath and cable markings. With cable from other suppliers sometimes the cable markings are completely stripped off after pulling it just 500 meters. With the cable from MOX, the cable sheath has held up with no noticeable wear after been pulled for many kilometres. Benefits The trenchless procedure permitted installation of cable with minimal excavation, greatly reducing disruption of other activities while limiting the time-consuming and costly restoration required with many methods of installing underground cable. In some situations, no excavation is necessary. "The new cable has been in service for quite some time and is working very well," the Project Manager of Santos said, "We have all the capacity we need and more." Relevant companies will struggle to deal with an ever increasing shift of consumer preferences in their business and

The FCC will move to increase regulation of ISP s as a way to open broadband options for both business and consumers 2. The Universal Service Fund will be re-directed to increase broadband access to the underserved 3. The FCC will gain spectrum back from the broadcasting industry to advance wireless industry initiatives and will continue to grow exponentially in Consumers will look for economical and alternative ways to connect to the things that are important to them through a broadband global universe, including information, entertainment, education, and health 5. Cable TV companies will struggle with a dwindling demand for linear programming and the consumers demand for viewing content on their own terms. TV Everywhere will be a success in the short term 6. Cable-Telecom companies will continue to struggle with customer satisfaction issues and will begin to focus more on this issue as subscribers continue to migrate elsewhere. Companies like Cox Communications will continue to thrive due to a focus on quality engineering and customer service 7. Demand for access to content on an A-La- Carte basis will gain ground with Over-The Top access providers making significant head-way during the year 8. Cable-Telecom companies with underperforming networks will be subject to buy-outs and take-over s as the industry continues to consolidate and upgrade infrastructures 9. Verizon (FIOS) will continue to gain market share where rolled-out due to its advanced capabilities for consumers and businesses 10. The Cable-Telecoms will continue to make their bundles more competitively attractive as they compete for the one-stop-shopping experience 2010 will be all about the customer experience and a continued change in broadband dynamics. The Cable Industry will struggle with a diminishing demand for linear programming, and the success of alternative Over-The-Top models of content access.
