1 A year ago, we changed our logo and added the tag line «Hardware and Software». Many people then wondered what it would mean effectively. Well, the answer is on the next page of this brochure, starting with Origin, a bold proposition for any musician interested in seeking true innovation in the World of synthesizers. Origin is Arturia s first piece of Hardware, but it does not mean we gaveup on what musicians love with our productions. With the Jupiter-8V, we bring to you a classy recreation of the Roland Jupiter-8, a synthesizer holding a special place in many people s hearts. For Arturia, these two projects have been challenging and exciting. So we hope the Origin and Jupiter-8V synthesizers will be as exciting for you. 2 Origin Desktop Be original Origin is the first Arturia Hardware synthesizer. It is a modular system of a new generation opening innovative avenues in sound design. Loaded with modules extracted from the best synthesizers of all time (Moog Modular, ARP 2600, CS-80, Minimoog and Prophet V) and from new modules created by Arturia, Origin lets you combine these elements. The result: a new type of sound accessible through an extremely intuitive interface. SOUND WITH AN ATTITUDE rigin sounds like nothing else on the planet. O It takes the concept of the analog modular systems of the past to a new level using cutting edge digital technology. You can combine different modules from different systems together, designing new synthesizers that have never existed. Take the oscillators from the Minimoog, the filters from the CS-80 and the Bode shifter from the Moog Modular V to create your own synth. Origin is based on TAE, True Analog Emulation, wich guarantees an extremely warm, lively and powerful sound. The Multi mode lets you play up to 4 synthesizers at the same time. You can layer them to create amazing sounds, split a keyboard or use Origin as a source for 4 different tracks in your sequencer. In addition, the Macro mode allows you to control the 4 synths at the same time, making Origin one single instrument. When you know that each of these synths can be as big as the Moog Modular V, you get a glimpse at the power beneath this beast. How can Arturia manage to do this in a standalone hardware synth? Origin uses two Analog Devices TigerSHARC DSP processors that actually have more audio power than even the newest multi core PC processors. Beside that, Origin is not a simple Hardware synthesizer, it is an integrated system offering the best out of the Hardware and Software Worlds: Origin can be used as stand alone to play live on stage and also as a plug-in with your sequencer in the studio environment. Origin comes with an Analogue-style 32 step sequencer. 6 Prophet V The WHOLE IS BETTER THAN THE SUM OF THE PARTS We have taken the FIRST and the LAST synthesizers created by Sequential Circuits and brought them to you in an easy to use software instrument format. As with all other soft synths created by Arturia, we bring you replicas of the Prophet-5 and Prophet VS both visually and sonically. Using the PROPHET V will be second nature for the connoisseurs. 7 MinimooG V TECHNOLOGY MEETS HISTORY From the starship funk lead lines of the 70 s, to the gangster whine of mid 90 s hip-hop, the ever present minimoog has been making its presence felt for over 3 decades. We decided to reproduce the legendary interface with the same look and feel as the original because of its particular «mood», and because many musicians wish to use the same interface they used in the past. But the reproduction of this synthesizer does not stop to the look and feel, we also recreated its inside characteristics «From the first moment I heard the minimoog V, I was totally convinced that this recreation offered everything I could expect. The precision of the attacks and the filter s resonance curve notably, are perfectly emulated. In addition, Arturia did not forget that the design of a synthesizer is very important as well; the level of details in the modeling of the interface is impressive.» Jean-Michel Jarre THE HI-FIDELITY NEW MOOG SOUND he oscillators: we have recreated the Texact characteristics of each oscillator, with their particular sound. As with any discrete component analog oscillator, the minimoog V produces «freerunning» waveforms that we have faithfully reproduced, thanks to our TAE exclusive technology. The filter: the minimoog V filter is a true emulation of the renowned typical 24dB moog 4 stage filter. One feature of the Minimoog filter is that the emphasis decreases when the cutoff frequency is low. This allows a special characteristic of sound that lets the bass pass through the filter when playing lower sounds. The soft clipping behavior of the minimoog amplification stages does add some pleasant harmonics to the sound, making basses sound more powerful. Our contribution: What all generations of minimoog users dreamt of: polyphony!
