It does not seem to appear in chord charts?! But it s a perfectly good version and easier especially when followed by a E7! About this song: "The owboy arol" was written by ecil Broadhurst, a anadian artist, songwriter, actor and playwright who had a passionate interest in all things Western. He wrote over a hundred cowboy songs, including this one; There ll be a New World Beginning from Tonight, which has become know today as the owboy arol. It was made famous in an arrangement by Sir Malcolm Sargent and was an annual fixture as the rousing finale of his hugely popular hristmas concerts of at the Royal Albert Hall. approx duration??? Hairston was asked to write a song for a birthday party and e wrote a calypso because the people at the party were mainly West Indians. The song's original title was "He Pone and hocolate Tea", pone being a type of cor n bread Some time later Walter Schumann asked Hairston to write a hristmas song for his choir. Hairston remembered his old song and wrote new lyrics for it. Harry Belafonte heard the song being performed by the choir and recorded in 1956 for his album An Evening with Belafonte. An edited version was subsequently released as a single, reaching No. 1 on the UK Singles hart in November It was the first single to sell over one million copies in the UK. To date, Belafonte's version has sold over 1.2 million copes. Page 5

About this Song: "Jingle Bells" is one of the best known erican songs in the world. It was written by James Lord Pierpont in 1857 and published under the title "One Horse Open Sleigh. In New England in pre-automobile days, it was common to adorn horses' harnesses with bells as a way to avoid collisions as a horse-drawn sleigh in snow makes almost no noise. The rhythm of the tune mimics that of a trotting horse's bells. Originally intended for Thanksgiving it has now become associated with hristmas all over the world. It was first performed on Washington Street in Boston in 1857 and became very popular in the 1860s and appears in a variety of parlor-song anthologies of the 1880s. It has been claimed that it was originally written for a Sunday school choir but it is for too racy" to be sung by a children's church choir in those days!. It was first recorded in 1889 on an Edison cylinder. Page 19
