Policy Review vember 8, 2018 Policy items reviewed and presented are as follows: SECTION 2.00, PERSONNEL Policy 2.01, Personnel Policy 2.02, Continuing Education Staff Recommendations: Policy 2.00 of the Boise Public Library policy manual is presented to the Library Board for review. Unless the Trustees direct changes, staff has no recommended changes to these policies and are included in the meeting packet for information purposes only.
Document Type: Number: Effective: Revised: Policy PERSONNEL The Board follows the personnel policies of Boise City, as outlined in the Boise City Employees Handbook. The Board has sole responsibility for hiring, supervising, and evaluating the Director, who serves at the pleasure of the Board. Nevertheless, the Board expects members of the Library's management to bring serious concerns related to the Director's job performance to the attention of the Board. These concerns would include: 1) job performance that clearly does not meet the job description or job performance standards adopted by the Board; 2) intentional actions by the Director that circumvent the written library policies as adopted by the Board; 3) the creation of a hostile, harassing, or threatening work environment whether as an ongoing practice or a single incident; 4) unethical or illegal actions or behavior. The Director and supervisory staff have the authority to dismiss any library employee whose attitude, professional ethics and conduct, or performance of duties make such action advisable. The Director and supervisory staff shall follow the personnel policies of Boise City when exercising this authority, as outlined in the Boise City Employees Handbook. The Library is committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all persons.
Document Type: Number: Effective: Revised: Policy CONTINUING EDUCATION The Board encourages the personal and professional development of staff members through participation in civic, educational, and professional organizations. Attendance at library institutes and the conferences of library associations may be financed within the restriction of the Library's budget. Insofar as it is feasible, attendance at conferences will be rotated among eligible staff members. All non-probationary members of the staff, regardless of job classification, are eligible to apply for permission to attend work-related conferences, workshops, and classes on library work time. Exceptions for introductory or temporary staff may be made at the discretion of the Director or designee. Opportunities for training will involve as many people on the staff as feasible given budgetary and staffing constraints. Priority will be given to training that supports Library strategic plan activities and/or supports an individual employee's approved performance plan for work-related training.
BOISE PUBLIC LIBRARY CUSTOMER COMMENT CARD STATISTICS FOR July - September FISCAL YEAR 2018
Customer Comment Card Statistics - Main Library Overall Experience was a statt Purpose in Did you find member coming to what you particularly Quarter Comment Library today? needed? helpful? Unable to get his wheelchair to fit into the handicapped accessible restroom stall. Had to leave the wheelchair outside the stall and walk the rest of the way. It was very painful. Please remodel handicap accessible stalls or change 4- Jul-Sep layout. Thank you for having Pride books this month (June). I grew up and used to come everyday because library did not have queer books. Thanks you having 4-Jul-Sep access to these saves lives. Response to patron Library Further follow Response up One of the most used bike rocks in the 4-Jul-Sep city and really the worst designed. Upset and disappointed to see a. "Pride" display in the teen area. Such private issues of values/choices and morality do not need to be promoted by the library. Since the library is funded by the City, couldn't it please refrain from such an 4 - Jul -Sep agenda. 3rd floor so hot. Unable to remain here. 1 fear a heart attack due to the 4 - Jul - Sep temperature. Please cool it down. contact information Phone call
Customer Comment Card Statistics - Main Library Overall Experience was a statt Purpose in Did you find member coming to what you particularly Quarter Comment Library today? needed? helpful? Response to patron Library Further follow Response up I like Boise Public library a lot! For member ID cards please use Frank 4 - Jul - Sep Church & Anne Frank memorial images. contact information Please have a section for World War 1 & 4 - Jul - Sep 2 novels. Yes Please do not have the books shelved too low. I have a bad back. Another solution is to have the bottom shelf books have their spines facing up so that I don't have to practically lay on the floor to 4- Jul- Sep find one. 4 - Jul -Sep Great customer service. Impossible parking in E side of N. lot. Dings hard to avoid. Can take a long time to getting in or out of cars. One less space in that area is the intelligent 4 - Jul - Sep choice. ne contact information contact information
Customer Comment Card Statistics - Bown Overall Experience Response to patron Purpose in Did you Was a staff coming to find member Library what you particularly Quarter Comment today? needed? helpful? Library Response Further follow up We love it! Would love to see the handicap 4- Jul-Sep parking closer. like in the loading area. If possible. it would be great to have printers that can print double-sided rather than on single sheets. It would be much more environmentally friendly & eliminate un paper waste. This will also reflect highly on the Bown Crossing Library & enhance what is being done with LED certification Also. color printing would be very 4 - Jul -Sep helpful. ne ne Great staff! They go of their way to help 4 - Jul -Sep everyone. ne Super customer service. Entire staff is very 4 - Jul -Sep helpful and courteous. ne
Customer Comment Card Statistics - Bown Love our library system. Let's open Bown 4- Jul -Sep Library on Mondays! I know that the downtown library has signs in the parking lot indicating that parking is for library visitors. It would be nice to do the 4 - Jul - Sep same here. ne contact information
Customer Comment Card Statistics - Collister Overall Experience Response to patron Was a staff Purpose in coming to Did you find what you member particularly Library Further follow up Quarter Comment Library today? needed? helpful? Response 4-Jul -Sep Please designate historical fiction books like Garden City does. For the love of all that's holy, put in self-serve at the printing station! They have it Gorden City & Eagle, and it's a thousand times more efficient than the Boise branches. Why waste everyone's time (patrons & staff) on this when there are readily available systems to automate this 4 -Jul - Sep process. A library. to my knowledge is where people can read in a quiet atmosphere. Sorry to say, this library 4- Jul -Sep is more like a kid's playground. Very noisy!! 11 Customer Comment Card Statistics - Hillcrest Overall Experience Purpose in Did you find coming to what you Quarter Comment Library today? needed? Response to patron Was a staff member Further particularly Library follow up helpful? Response 4-Jul-Sep There seems to be no power at the little table near the front of the library and I use this table for my work but. temporarily can't do work for my summer school. Spoke with Limited electrical outlets on the new wall, although desks have been set up there. This is causing an increase use of the now 4 desk 4 - Jul -Sep position toward the back of the library. Spoke with It seems all the pre-adolescent I adolescents play game involving guns & killing. Do you suppose this might be influencing school killings. 4- Jul-Sep Seems inappropriate for a public library. Everyone is always very helpful. knowledgeable 4 Jul-Sep and never stingy with their time. contact information
