1 BHAI PARMANAND VIDYA MANDIR HOLIDAY HOMEWORK CLASS VI Dear children Its time to stand the books up In rows upon the shelves, and pack the charts and posters in neat piles by themselves, collect the pens and pencils and put the ink away, for school time is now over and every day is for play so to keep you happily occupied, we have planned some fun filled and exciting activities for you 1

2 ENGLISH A. ROLE PLAY Read the book Alice in the Wonderland by Lewis Carrol and imagine yourself as one of the characters from the same and write your own dialogues, keeping your character in mind, using Ist person. B. BOOK JACKET Make a Book Jacket with pockets and write an inspirational proverb on the top of it. C. PAPER BAGS Make two paper bags and write slogans on them related to environment. D. WRITING PRACTICE INFORMAL LETTERS i) Write a letter to your friend inviting him/her to spend summer vacations with you and also share your plans for the vacations. ii)write a letter to your father, asking him for money for summer camp in your school. DIARY ENTRY i) Write a Diary Entry on any of your best experience during the vacations. ii) Write a Diary Entry on any of the incident or accident occurred during the vacations. HINDI 2

3 SCIENCE 1. Prepare a project file in which list names of different food items eaten by people of different regions of our country. Also paste pictures of these food items from magazines, newspapers or internet. Find out the ingredients required for each dish. 2. Collect old and discarded objects and materials like glass bottles, plastic bottles, coconut husk, wool, bed sheets, greeting cards and any other thing. Try to make something useful out of them, instead of throwing them 3. Prepare a list of all food items taken by you during one week. Categorise these items as energy giving food, body building food, protective food, roughage etc. Discuss whether you are taking balanced diet. 4. Prepare a project file with the help of collected pieces of cloth made from different materials arranging them in the following order: a) Fabric from plant fibres: i) cotton ii) jute iii) linen b) Fabric from animal fibres: i) silk ii) wool c) Synthetic fibres : i) rayon ii) nylon iii) polyester 5. Revise all the syllabus done in the class i.e chapter 1, 2 and 3. SOCIAL SCIENCE 1. Make chart on the following topics: Roll no 1 to 10: Stone tools of Paleolithic age Roll no 11 to 20: Revolution of the earth Roll no 21 to 30: Major land forms of the earth Roll no 31 to 40: Types of mountains Roll no 41 onwards: Functions of Government 2.Make models on the following topics: Roll no 1 to 10: Mountains Roll no 11 to 20: Plains Roll no 21 to 30: Plateaus Roll no 31 to 40: Volcano Roll no 41 onwards: Rivers 3. Collect 5 important newspaper clippings of national events daily and paste it in the scrap file. 4. Read Panchtantra stories and Jataka Tales written by Vishnu Sharma and write any one story and depict it through pictures. 5. Prepare a social science dictionary. 6. Mark and label the following places on the map of India: a. Important Stone Age sites b. Important sites of Indus valley civilization c. Ten Mahajanapadas of Ancient India d.
