3 KEEP THIS PAGE FOR YOUR RECORDS About the Contest: Started in 1999, The Spirit is Ageless Art & Writing Contest continues to be a very special event at C. C. Young. The Contest, Art Gallery Show, and Awards & Celebration have been designed for the entire Dallas/ Fort Worth community, including C. C. Young residents. The Annual Art Gallery Show features entries from the contest in an effort to celebrate each person s ageless creativity, ability to grow, and eagerness to share his or her special talents-no matter a person s limitations or status. All ability levels are welcome! Limited seating available. Please RSVP today: rsvp@ccyoung.org or IMPORTANT ENTRY RULES FOR 2018 CONTEST Entries: Accepted in the lobby of The Point at C. C. Young on two (2) days: Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 7:30am- 6:30pm Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 7:30am- 6:30pm 4847 W. Lawther Dr., Dallas, TX Not sure where The Point is on campus? See map on page 5 or call before you head over to submit your art. Art must be available to be on display through April 29, Awards: 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place awards will be given in each category. (No cash prizes.) 4 additional awards: One (1) Best in Show for a C. C. Young Resident One (1) Best in Show for a C. C. Young Point Member One (1) Best in Show for a Dallas/Ft. Worth Community Member One (1) Celebrating Ageless Creativity Award for the most senior participant C. C. Young uses an anonymous panel of judges. Winners will be notified on or before April 3, Each artist will receive a certificate of participation. No cash prizes will be given. Awards will be given at the Awards & Celebration on Sat., April 21, at 10:15am. Awards event is free & open to everyone. Seating is limited. Please RSVP to rsvp@ccyoung.org or Your art will be on display: Sunday, April 1, 2018 through Sunday, April 29, The Art Gallery at The Point is open daily from 6:00am until 8:00pm. Pick up your art: Monday, April 30, 2018, through Friday, May 4, 2018, between 8:30am and 4:30pm daily. If art is not retrieved by the above dates, remaining art will be accepted as a donation to C. C. Young, a not-for-profit organization. An acknowledgement will be made to the artist if this occurs. It is the entrant s responsibility to read all entry rules. Entry Rules are continued on pg. 4. 4 ENTRY RULES CONTINUED Art/Writing is to have been completed at age 55 or better and created by the person entering. C. C. Young Residents are limited to TWO (2) entries at NO cost. All others Limited to ONE (1) free entry & ONE (1) additional entry for a $10.00 fee. Cash and checks accepted please make your check payable to C. C. Young. Correct change is helpful. Payment due at time of entry. Please mark the following on back of each entry: Artist s first and last name, phone number, title, & category If piece has been submitted in the wrong category, C. C. Young reserves the right to change the application and include it in the correct/appropriate contest category. Prose, Poetry and Personal Essay Category: Each piece must not exceed FOUR (4) doubles spaced typed pages. 10 point type font minimum. Hanging Requirements: All entries must be dry, framed/mounted & ready with a saw-tooth hanger or wire for hanging. Sculpture, glass, ceramic, steel, wood, prose, and poetry are the exceptions. Call right away to discuss the hook sizes and system used for display, if needed. Art will not be accepted unless it is ready to be hung (see exceptions above). The selection of items displayed is the sole responsibility of C. C. Young and is based on C. C. Young s opinion as well as available display space. C. C. Young reserves the right to deny showing any entry. C. C. Young staff will take all precautions to ensure that the art is handled safely; however, the artist acknowledges C. C. Young is not responsible for loss or damage. Other: Single works or pieces are preferred vs. groupings of items, due to limited space for show. You may enter a piece entered previously if it has not already won a Spirit is Ageless Contest award in the past. Original artwork only please. Please do not enter a piece you have created from another s artwork. Artwork does NOT have to be in bubble wrap. Entry implies release for all pieces(s) to be photographed and shown on C. C. Young s website and/or other promotional materials and/or social media. No art will be displayed with prices, however, if viewers indicate an interest in a piece for purchase, the potential buyers name and number will be taken. C. C.
