1 11 th Grade Honors Summer Reading Assignment Catch-22 by Joseph Heller Choice Selections from the Teen Reads List Incoming Eleventh Grade Honors Students will be required to read Catch-22 as well as two other novels of their choice from the Florida Teens Read list. For Catch-22: During Reading: Annotate! Keep track of important quotes as you are reading. I suggest using sticky notes, or writing down page numbers as you come across them. You may also want to jot down a quick note about what the quote is referring to or discussing, so that when you sit down to complete the assignment you will know where to look for support. You will need to cite evidence from the text to support your analysis of the characters, and it will be a much less daunting task if you keep track as you go. Post-Reading: Create a My Face Page (Similar to a Facebook profile page) & : My Face Page: Create four profile pages for four characters in the novel. The profile must include the following: o About Me (with picture) must show insight about the characters for full credit. o Favorites: Quote, Movie, Song, Book, TV Show, Activities, & Interests o Friends: A minimum of three friends with pictures. : Explain the reasoning behind each of the favorites as well as the friends chosen for each character. Reasoning should show insight into each character. Cite page numbers for your evidence! Please see the attached sample. You must attach the rubric to your project! NOTE: Please see examples that are uploaded as separate attachments! Upon Returning to School Show your annotated book & turn in assignment: 1 st day back Essay: You may use your annotated book for the essay. Discussion Test on book For Teen Reads Books: Please select two books from the Teen Reads List. You must have these books read by the first day of class. Expect an in class writing assignment regarding these texts the first day. The list can be found on the school website.
