2 SUMMER 2018 Registration Information for NVU Online Courses Summer Registration Begins April 2, PAYMENT: Details are available on the Vermont State Colleges System Portal at ( vsc.edu). Log in to the portal. Under Web Services, click into Student Billing/Financials to locate your bill. Tuition, course fees and other charges are due by May 14 (including school district/third-party letters of guarantee or purchase orders). NVU s Summer 2018 Financial Aid Application & Payment Form must be submitted to Student Financial Services at the time of registration. A $100 late fee will be assessed if one of these conditions is not met. The form is available at NorthernVermont.edu/ SummerAid. If you are eligible for Veterans educational benefits, contact the Registrar s Office at Tuition and fees may be paid online with a credit card or by calling the NVU Student Financial Services Office at FINANCIAL AID: In order to receive financial aid to pay for summer courses you must complete your FAFSA and the Summer Financial Aid Application and Payment Form. This may be completed online at NorthernVermont.edu/SummerAid. IMPORTANT: The only way Student Financial Services knows that you expect summer financial aid is when the office receives this form. This is your responsibility. To ensure eligibility for any book vouchers, all financial aid and Student Financial Services documentation must be submitted by April 15, You will be eligible for a voucher if there is a credit balance on your account. Award notifications are sent to your NVU address with instructions to accept or decline your aid via the MyJSC Portal and Web Services. Please contact Student Financial Services at or JohnsonAid@ NorthernVermont.edu if you need assistance. TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS: NVU Online courses require students to use the Moodle learning management system on a weekly basis throughout the term. In order to ensure that students can access their course content in Moodle without problems, students should comply with the technical requirements found at NorthernVermont.edu/NVUOnlineTech. Failure to meet these standards means that NVU technical support may not be able to resolve technical issues a student is having. TEXTBOOKS: Texts are available through the NVU Bookstore. Call to obtain prices and order books, or order online at NorthernVermont.edu/Bookstore. WAITLIST ENROLLMENT: The capacity of online courses is 22 students, and up to four additional waitlisted students can be added to an online course. Waitlisted students will be added to courses based on their program code. Additional sections of a course will be added as appropriate to ensure that students have access to the courses they need. Please sign up for the waitlist only if you are certain you will take the course if added. Your student account is the official address that faculty and other official personnel will use to contact you electronically. You are responsible for reading and understanding information sent to your account. IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT ONLINE COURSES All students are registered in online courses using their address. If you need assistance logging into your account, contact the Help Desk at helpdesk.vsc.edu or QUANTITATIVE REASONING ASSESSMENT EXAM FOR NVU ONLINE STUDENTS Students who entered EDP, or JSC Online, or NVU Online since Spring 2010 need to take and pass the Quantitative Reasoning (QR) Assessment Exam or take MAT 1080 Intro to Quantitative Reasoning to meet Part I of the QR Graduation Standard. Exception: Students who have an Associate degree do not need to take this exam or MAT (However, all students need to take and pass a quantitatively enriched [QE] course to meet part II of the standard.) If you need to take the exam, please contact your advisor and ask to be registered to take GRS-2000 on one of the following testing dates/ times. The exam will appear on your portal page looking like an online course. You can take the exam wherever you have access to the Internet. There is no cost to take this assessment, and it can be done only twice. Summer 2018: GRS-2000-JY01: Wednesday, June 20, 6:30 8 p.m. GRS-2000-JY02: Tuesday, August 7, 4 5:30 p.m. THE INFORMATION-LITERACY GRADUATION STANDARD In order to meet the information-literacy graduation standard, all students must complete the online tutorial (TILT) and earn a score of at least 80% on all quizzes.
