1 1 st International Research Conference on Tourism Rajarata University of Sri Lanka IRCTRUSL2018 (September 06, 2018) Creating a knowledge platform for inclusive tourism growth INDUSTRY PAPER SUBMISSION GUIDELINES IRCTRUSL2018 provides a platform with industry practitioners to share their valuable experiences with other industrialists, students, academics, and researchers. The industry practitioners are invited to write full papers according to the following guidelines. Note: An academic mentor/ co-writer can be arranged to support the industry full paper writing on the request. Please send your request along with a brief description about your intended paper to irct2018@gmail.com to have this facility. An industry full paper can be submitted under one of the following forms. 1. Experience Based 2. Trends in Tourism and Hospitality Industry 1. Experience Based Industry practitioners with a sound industry experience in managerial positions can submit experience papers. A specific function or area in the field of Tourism and/or Hospitality Management can be selected and elaborated with their own experience. For example, one hotelier can write on the topic of Issues in Managing Human Resources in Hotels while another industry practitioner can write on Menu Compiling Strategies. Generally, an experience paper can have the following sections. Abstract o A summary of the essay Background/Introduction o This section, an author should provide an introduction to the specific area of the paper. The core issue, on which the paper is developed, to be clearly introduced with its importance to the field of tourism and hospitality management. General Practices o The general managerial practices pertaining to the area of discussion of the paper are to be presented here. The main purpose of this section is to give a brief idea on universally accepted managerial practices of the topic.

2 The author s experience o This is the main and most important section of the paper. In this section, author may discuss all the important points of the topic in accordance with his/her experience. A series of subheadings can be used as per the author s requirement. Conclusions, Implications, and Recommendations o In this section, author can give his/her overall conclusion regarding the topic/issue of the paper. Further, recommendations are to be drawn for further development of the industry. List of references 2. Trends in Tourism and Hospitality Industry This option of industry full paper is offered to industry practitioners to discuss the current and future trends in the industry. The main purpose of this category of industry full papers is to give the industry people an opportunity to identify and discuss the main trends in the tourism and hospitality industry based on their experiences, forecasting, and speculations. Generally, this type of paper can have the following sections. Abstract o A summary of the paper Background/Introduction o This section, an author should provide an introduction to the industry trend on which the paper is developed. Discussion o In this section, the author can lengthy discuss the industry trend. Mainly an author can discuss past and present scenarios of a particular trend in the industry and then forecast and predict future scenario of the same. Conclusions, Implications, and Recommendations o In this section, author can give his/her overall conclusion regarding the topic/issue of the paper. Further, recommendations are to be drawn for further development of the industry. List of references

3 OTHER GUIDELINES Please meet the following guidelines to format and submit your paper. It is important that all papers are submitted in a standardised format. Papers not adhering to this format will be returned to the authors for correct formatting. Follows the instructions given in previous section for each form of industrial full papers Inclusion of a 150 word abstract Word count should not exceed 2000 words including reference list Saved in MSWord file format Times New Roman 11 point font Single-line spacing Left-right justified Submission of 2 docs: o Cover/Title Page (with author affiliations/contacts and nominated theme) o Paper: The paper itself should include the paper title, but with all authors, affiliations and contact details excluded (to ensure anonymity for the blind peer review process). Graphics and tables must be accessible by MSWord or MS Excel (not pdf). 5 TEMPLATE: INDUSTRY FULL PAPERS Please note: Please use this template, rather than the generic templates and line spacing provided by most current Word programs. All major level headings should be in UPPER CASE (bold) and sub-headings should be kept to a minimum, to one level only, and included in Title Case (italics). Please include page numbers. TITLE: PLACE YOUR PAPER TITLE HERE AGAIN, ALL IN UPPER CASE BOLD, WITH NO AUTHOR AFFILIATIONS. LEFT-RIGHT JUSTIFIED, DO NOT CENTRE. ABSTRACT Place your abstract here. The short abstract should be composed of up to 150 words that briefly summarise your paper. It should provide details rather than present intentions. Indent the abstract paragraph 1.5cm single space with justified text alignment. The abstract should be followed by and a list of no more than five (5) key words (in italics) that define the subject matter, separated by semi-colons. Keywords: keyword one; keyword two; keyword three; keyword four; keyword five; MAIN BODY OF TEXT Begin your copy here as per the headings outlined previously. Full carriage return between any heading and paragraph following. Single space within each paragraph and a full carriage return between paragraphs. Double carriage return between end of section and new heading/section. Sub-Headings As described above. Do not indent sub-heading title. TABLES AND FIGURES Tables and figures must appear within the text, not at the end of the text. Tables and figures should be numbered sequentially, e.g., Table 1, Table 2, Table 3, etc., and they should include a title at the TOP of the table or figure, and in Italics (in Title Case for Headings), which explain their contents. For example: Table 1: Number of Chinese Tourist Arrivals CONCLUSIONS AND IMPLICATIONS Please list any conclusions and implications here, as appropriate. Do not include recommendations. REFERENCES In-text: In text, list all authors in alphabetical order, with comma separating surname and year, and each subsequent reference separated with a semi-colon (Jhon, 1987; Kaplan, 2006; Tribe, 2005). Ensure all direct quotes are captured with a double quotation marks and page numbers indicated as such: (Mike, 2010, p. 3). Longer quotes (more than 40 words) should be separated out by a carriage return and indented. Reference list: References must be listed immediately following the CONCLUSION AND IMPLICATIONS of the paper (no page break). Use APA style. Alphabetise by author, and for each
