The Tennessee Mafia Jug Band Lester s Loafin Lounge The fifth studio album release by The Tennessee Mafia Jug Band entitled Lester s Loafin Lounge is simply a mix of bluegrass and country tradition. The album, in memory of founding member Lonesome Lester Armistead, is a listening pleasure particularly on songs like Bridge Washed Out, Old Slew Foot, and Lonesome, Onry and Mean. This album is a must for bluegrass and country traditionalists. Tucker #Country Tucker s debut EP, #Country highlights not only his vocal ability but his songwriting skills as well - co-writing six of the seven cuts. The title song, #Country is a fun uptempo party song but Tucker also delivers on the ballad, Burn. The production is solid and matches his vocal performance. All in all, this album solidifies Tucker s place as a rising country music singer/songwriter. PG 5

7 Merle Haggard with The Malpass Brothers In their home state of North Carolina, where Merle Haggard first heard them play and invited them on the road, The Malpass Brothers are pictured backstage with the legend, Merle Haggard. Once again, Merle invited the traditionalists to open a show for him, this time in Raleigh. The brothers toured with Merle and worked with Hag Records for 6 years before signing with a new record label. Chris and Taylor Malpass recently released their self-titled album on Organic Records. Taylor Malpass, Merle Haggard, Christopher Malpass Well, they remind me a lot of myself and people that I knew when I was young. They have their hearts into what we call traditional country music. 9 Craig Morgan Makes Milestone 200th Opry Appearance Craig Morgan made a milestone 200th appearance at the Grand Ole Opry on July 21, To honor the occasion, Morgan performed memorable hits, That s What I Love About Sunday, Redneck Yacht Club, and a brand new song, Country Side of Heaven, to a packed house in the historic venue. He is set to celebrate his 7th anniversary as a member of the prestigious Opry this fall. Morgan, a country music entertainer, military veteran and award-winning TV host, just launched season six of Craig Morgan: All Access Outdoors on Outdoor Channel. The Black River Entertainment recording artist has spent the last six months focused in the studio, recording a new album with producer Byron Gallimore, and new music is expected to be released this year. 10 Multi-Talented Ronnie McDowell Remembers The King When Sunday, August 16 arrives this year, Elvis Presley fans around the world will pause to mark the 38 years that have passed since the King died. As you know, singer-songwriter Ronnie McDowell is one of the biggest Elvis fans of all time. He can trace much of his success to his 1977 blockbuster, The King is Gone, which catapulted Ronnie into the spotlight. Early in his career, Ronnie was already a successful songwriter scoring hits for Porter Waggoner, Webb Pierce, Faron Young, Eddy Arnold, Tanya Tucker, Chet Atkins, George Jones and many others. He often describes that afternoon as when he wrote his own life story. With the huge reaction and requests made to radio stations from Elvis fans, Ronnie received a phone call from Dick Clark and the next day performed on American Bandstand. Since that day, multimillion copies of The King is Gone have been sold. Ronnie s Elvis connection doesn t stop there. When Dick Clark produced a television movie featuring a young Kurt Russell as Elvis Presley, Clark turned to Ronnie to record 36 songs for the movie s extensive soundtrack. He would reprise his turn as the voice of the King when Elvis s wife, Priscilla, tapped him to sing for the television movie Elvis and Me. Over the years, Ronnie s vocals would be showcased on the ABC-TV series about the early years of Elvis career titled simply Elvis, as well as the 1997 Showtime special Elvis Meets Nixon. Today, Ronnie often features Elvis Presley s original sidemen Scotty Moore and D.J. Fontana, along with Millie Kirkham and The Jordanaires when he stages tributes to Elvis Presley s music. To date, one of Ronnie McDowell s most popular and best-selling prints is his painting titled Reflection of a King. The life-like image is of Elvis as a young boy looking into a mirror and envisioning Elvis the super-star. PG 10
