Your film poster or trailer must demonstrate that you have investigated your chosen genre and have applied this knowledge to create a poster or trailer for an original film from your own imagination. Your poster or trailer should include elements from your genre, which demonstrate your understanding of your selected genre. Your poster should incorporate the conventions of the genre you have studied in class. Some of the genre conventions you may like to consider are as follows: Mise-en-scene Costume Lighting Props Setting Characters Sound (trailer) The images on your poster should represent key genre conventions in the films you have studied. They can be cut from magazines, printed from the internet, hand drawn or computer generated and presented either on at least A3 size paper/cardboard or using an appropriate computer program (PowerPoint etc.). If you are choosing to compose a film trailer, it can be live action or animated and should be 1 minute long 1

2 Part 2 You will also create a presentation which should clearly show your investigation and understanding of your specific genre. Your presentation will be a 4 minute long podcast; this means it is recorded sound only. You should evaluate the elements used on your poster/trailer in terms of their importance to the genre you have studied. Your presentation should be 4 minutes long and evaluate the techniques used and their importance to the genre. Your teacher will not be watching it in class, so they must be able to take a copy. Issues with technology will not be accepted as a reason for late or non-submission. Please discuss any potential issues with your teacher 1 week prior to submission, before the 6/9/18. A sample paragraph: Setting As you can see the setting of my poster/trailer is the beach at sunset. This particular setting is often used in romantic films like the film I have created, You Are My Everything. The silhouetted figures with their hands joined walking along the sand is a stereotypical romantic scene and the water glittering adds to the serenity and romantic atmosphere of the scene. The darkness of the silhouettes means that the individual characters lose their identity and the figures are seen as a couple ASSESSMENT CRITERIA STUDENT CHECKLIST: Carefully select and use appropriate language and textual forms to compose a poster/trailer that demonstrates an understanding of the way techniques are used to create meaning in genre Visual representation includes conventions of selected genre Podcast evaluates how the poster/trailer links to the selected genre Create a podcast that demonstrates that you have investigated the conventions of the selected genre Ensure podcast is 4 minutes in length. Ensure podcast is in a format that can be accessed by the teacher. 2
