Maths See Activity 2 - during the assessment, the style and type of questions to be expected, will look like this. It will be covered in class as part of our revision, but children should try and do it at home to make sure that they understand it. Assessment questions will follow the same pattern. Mental Maths Focus Keep practicing multiplication tables! It is critical to mental math and to math in general. Science See Activity 3 - It will tell you exactly what to study. 7 Activity 3 - SCIENCE REVISION - Term 1 Properties and changes of materials In this topic the children learnt about materials and how they change. They looked at how materials dissolve, what a solution is, and evaporation. They also compared reversible and irreversible changes. What they should know: Be able to identify some factors that affect dissolving. Be able to describe different ways to separate mixtures. Be able to use scientific language and ideas to explain dissolving and separation. Be able to explain the difference between reversible and irreversible changes. Be able plan comparative and fair tests, and collect accurate results. Scientific language Solution: mixture of solid and liquid. Solute: the stuff that dissolves. Solvent: usually liquid that does the dissolving. Evaporate: heat liquid until it turns into gas. Mixture: two or more substances that can be separated. Soluble: when something can dissolve. Insoluble: when something cannot be dissolved. Filter: use porous material to separate solid and liquid. Reversible/ physical change: one that can be undone. Irreversible/ chemical change: one that cannot be undone Burning: a special type of chemical change, particularly in fuels. Sample questions: 1.
